I was curious if there happened to be anything of interest or value were the old gates are at leading into the universe Eve is located in? Would it be worth the trip (around 32 jumps from were my characters are) to check it out?

I assume you're referring to the EvE gate/system...

All I can say about it is... well... it's colorful. Beyond that is entirely up to you. I left feeling slightly underwhelmed (I had hoped that there would be a way to get "close" to the EvE gate and watch your ship and pod get ripped to pieces... alas, no such thing).

Be aware that the EvE system is also the dead-end of a low-sec pipe (there are no stations or alternate routes of escape in the last 6 systems of this pipe), so watch your step.

Thank you for the heads up. It is kind of a let that you cannot get too close.

Yeah ... on the one hand, it is kind of nice that they have included some sites that have nothing to do with anything but their back story ... but on the other hand ... there really isn't all that much to some of them.

It's kind of interesting to check them out ... but ... don't expect a lot.

The other thing with a place like EVE Gate ... which I have not been to ... is that just by going there you get some modicum of bragging rights over all of us who haven't bothered. It's kind of like having climbed Mount Cyssor in Planetside. There's nothing there. It's just something to do.

You used to be able to leave a secure container in space as a claim to fame (leaving it as 'close' as possible to the gate) but nowadays all unattended containers in space get cleaned up.
