To CCP or transgaming: Did you stop support for the Linux version because the mac was taking too much work or was beginning to be too complex ?

This post could explain the reason why it was left off in the dust somewhere because it looks like the mac is taking lots of ressources off that specific team to make it compatible with the mac.

Maybe i just don't understand the real issues that lead CCP to go that way, but i never saw them answering to this questions.

I think the problem is Mac's are becoming noticeably popular, so you need to offer them something. But you don't want to risk rolling your own OS X native binaries and all that entails... and as a company you want that fall back of "I sue you" when something screw up. Which WINE doesn't give.

However I wonder if Mac's and the release of Valve's games on OS X have got CCP reconsidering this.

I'd also like to state that I was pretty much spot on with Transgaming vanishing like a fart in the wind again.

Thanks for the condescending lesson of why you can count on it to break in nearly every single gaming session. Playing this game on a Mac is like creating a monument to frustration. It basically relegates the player to a life in high sec because even small fleets lag and crash. Please save your self-adulation for the press release.

I am not sure what you mean. I am in big fleet fights all the time. Look at eve-kill at my killboards and you can see recent Titan kills while in my Wyvern. We had over 1200 in system and it wasn't RF'd. I was fine, but i only had 5 clients logged in during that fight.

When I mine, I run 10 accounts and 5 monitors (2 30", 3 23") ad have no problems and get 50ish FPS on all monitors)

All on a Mac that is 4 years old
