Speculation kicking in, with about a month till the expansion, this is usually when it starts.

CCP mentioned changing some T2 ammo's in the SISI forums.

Come now, no self-respecting Gallente would use CN Antimatter - they would instead use the Federation Navy Antimatter with its obviously superior pedigree. You can't judge ammunition by its attributes alone, after all.

Well, the ammo is a little bit more phalus-shaped and organic, I guess.

True, but the Caldari have a better marketing department, which explains why their equally-well functioning stuff costs so much more — it's all in the brand.

…and those silly Gallente aren't market-savvy enough to see through the PR. Wink

So, people are thinking that barrage is one of the ammunitions more likely to be standing in the "to be boosted" camp, rather than the opposite? Confused

Well there's persistent rumours that Scorch will be nerfed and there's also a rumour that Fury missiles will get a cap penalty so the only viable T2 ammo left will be Barrage.

I think ..

Actually it is because this particular ammo is very popular among the Pvp crowd and is manufactured using technetium. Technetium comes primarily from moon mines in the Northern Coalition areas. The last patch or two changed certain manufacturing parameters and this, combined with NC's efforts to restrict technetium are resulting in shortages of some goods... thus the stockpiling of ammo and concommitant price rise you are seeing.

All typical Capitalist Pig behavior. If you use this ammo, I suggest you buy it before it doubles in price.

WTS : spreadsheets showing just how much technetium matters in most T2 ammo types not just a few (all turret ammo, that is), and how little technetium price affects ammo cost (thanks to relatively high invention and manufacture costs when compared to raw techentium costs)
Even if technetium doubles in price compared to now (which is, given the current price level, rather unlikely), turret ammo wouldn't go up more than 10% or thereabouts in price JUST from that.

Think what you wish Akita... there is a major campaign on and people don't know it yet... but they will soon.

Scorch being nerfed? Wtf? Not like the **** tracking and cap usage is bad enough, now we're gonna lose range or DPS too?

**** you CCP. Fix the other broken races first and leave Amarr alone. Hybrids and missiles, specifically.

I thought that was debunked by a Dev post stating it was an accidental change on the Testicle server.

What part of "roughly 1 unit of Technetium in 500k-1mil ISK of T2 ammo" is hard to comprehend ?
Technetium cost is 20% of final T2 ammo price, at most. Usually 10% or even less.
If Technetium more than doubles from the current relatively attractive price of around 70k to the unrealistically insane high price of 150k ISK, your 500k-1mil batch of ammo will become more expensive by a mere 80k, so 580k-1.08mil.
Not exactly tragic.
