Yes, I was kind of waiting for that.

Krychton, is there any reason for me to actually argue with this one? She seems a little ... something or other. Damaged. I'm reasonably certain you understand the irony of her position, but I'm starting to think that she doesn't and won't.

If so, I might owe her an apology for some of my remarks. There's picking apart propaganda and then there's beating up on injured capsuleers. The latter ... well, "cruel and pointless" comes to mind. And, of course, if you put her up to this, the criticism would have been better aimed elsewhere.

I appreciate the apology. and yes I do understand the irony of all this.

I haven't put her up to this. I like for people to have the freedom to express themselves. If this is how Cecilia chooses to vent some frustrations, then so be it.

Mm. That's a medium I normally use for an exchange of ideas, rather than a debate. It's easier to explain, for instance, Achura Shuijing over an open channel or "in person" than in a forum.

Debate? That's better held in the forum. There's more time to think, more space to lay out complicated arguments, less opportunity for heckling interference, and a wider audience. My primary aim here is to stymie attempts at tweaking public perception so long as those attempts fit under the heading of "propaganda" rather than "serious discussion."

So, it may be that we simply continue this another day. Or never. It really rather depends.

Mind you, I wouldn't mind a chat at some point. Members of your faith (of most faiths, really) are often well worth talking to. But that's really aside from my purpose here.

Pilot Syal you are Matari, Sebeistor if I'm not mistaken. Let me tell you something as a sister, as it were. I would suggest that the remedy to bullying is not to seek help in standing up to said bullies from an organization such as the Blooders but, your family, clan or tribe. That is the Matari way and it has served our people well for millennia.

Rely not on the dubious charity of strangers but, instead turn to those who have your best interests at heart, sister. The faith of the Amarrian monster is not ours, much less the perverted "faith" of the Blooders.

If you'd like to talk privately sometime please look me up. I'll be happy to share my experiences with you of how I dealt with bullies when I was younger and how I deal with them now.

You still get bullied?

I would like some advice on bullies too. There is this nasty person making hateful comments about me on the IGS, comments about someone putting a paper bag on my head. These comments really effect my self-esteem, what should I do?

Mm. A good first step in working out whether you've properly countered someone's objections is checking whether, if absolutely everything you said in response to them was taken as true, you'd have defeated their arguments.

Even if I am the most horrible being in the cluster, what I say is still true if it is true. Truth exists independent of its speaker. That being the case, I agree with your characterization of this as a "'debate,'" but probably for different reasons.

My problem with taking your argument seriously, is that it comes with its own brand of misrepresentation. Which adds its own flaws.

Presenting yourself as a realist, with the same breath calling yourself a "demon" and unhuman.

Also your personal crusade to rid Galnet of "low-lifes" or bring some kind of justice to all this misinformation that you so believe. A self admitted criminal/murder fighting the good fight for the honest folk of Galnet. Right, and I'm misrepresenting myself.

Honestly though I'd like to thank you, you've done me more favors then you realize, and for that alone, you'll have a special place in my heart.

Maybe I can take you to dinner some time.

I'm a woman of faith, pilot, and my faith calls on me to understand and pursue perfection within my role. Achura Shuijing, the "crystal" sect of Achur faith, holds clarity as its core purpose and goal. To understand your place in the universe is to grasp the universe itself.

The body that writes this is a homunculus constructed from the bodies of the dead, genetically-repatterned certified corpsemeat. My skeleton is similarly-harvested hand-me-down bone or osteoplastic. I live the existence of a corpse-possessing spirit, flitting from one clump of "pre-owned" biological matter to another.

And I am a murderous creature, quite capable of cheerfully taking human life in abundance without pity or remorse-- indeed, it's been some time since I've even felt any unhappiness over the lack of that remorse.

Now, as a realist, what should I call that? Not "human," I think. The genetics are human, but they're just another building block (along with consciousness transfer, etc.) for the creation of a technological pseudo-immortal. And what place, what path, in human society do I occupy? A soldier who never risks her own life? Ha.

Am I a literal demon? A literal ghost? Of course not. These are metaphors-- frames of reference easily understood by all. If one cannot find one's role in human society, the next step is to look for an existing path from which one might take some guidance.

I am an infomorph capsuleer. The question is what in all the worlds that means, and I hope you'll excuse me if I consider your answer, that we are "human," to require much more faith than mine does.

Also, and more to the point, it's not my opinion, or the validity of that opinion, that you need to worry about. It's how much others will listen. You'd be unwise to assume that their perspectives, or their conclusions about others' position to comment, match yours exactly.

Oh-- dear gods. Pilot, if you just work on your comic timing a little.... You could have knocked me right out of my seat just there.

"Low-lifes?" "Justice?" "Good fight?" ... Where in all the worlds....

You really must be accustomed to arguing with the Amarr.

Mmh. As you like. You're not the first to make such claims. They didn't dissuade me much, then, either.

Your backers are of interest, mind you, particularly if there are any from outside the Sani Sabik. My longest running feud is with Sansha's Nation-- friends of your faction, I believe.

You can spin it however you want Aria, but anyone with simple grasp of how things work, knows that your full of it. You're simply trying too hard at this point for it to be believable.

A large vocabulary doesn't make you intelligent, makes you a complex idiot. Simply adding filler to your post doesn't do your argument any justice either.

Trying to add another notch to your belt. Like you mention the whole Silver incident like its some kind badge over your chest.

Drop the pompous act then maybe we'll talk.

"Anyone" ... meaning you, yes?

Krychton, something you don't quite seem to grasp: this is fun. I'm not "trying." I'm enjoying myself.

Mind you, I enjoy higher-level exchanges of ideas much more. Philosophy is a passion. Mudslinging is a relatively worthless activity. I remain in this conversation partly out of a sense that you might be capable of more if you ever figure out that I'm not arguing simply to discredit you.

I'm a seeker, not a sophist.

Quote:

Nor would having a small one make me wise. I aspire to wisdom, but remain a clever fool.

Perhaps a wise woman would have left you alone, long since. You are a proud man; talking to such people is often futile.

But I do not pretend to be wise-- just clever. And so I persist.

Quote:

"Filler?"

Hm. Wait. Combined with your comment above....

Are you having trouble understanding me, pilot? Complicated wording's a bit of a habit-- a bad one, maybe. It limits the number of challengers I have to deal with when presenting my own ideas, and it lets me work with complicated concepts more easily.

But, it reduces the audience size. That's a problem-- as you pointed out, being intelligent and having a large vocabulary are two very different things.

Quote:
Trying to add another notch to your belt.

Ah, pilot, I don't keep track.

Quote:
Like you mention the whole Silver incident like its some kind badge over your chest.

Let me see how plainly I can put this....

Silver won.

If it hadn't been for Kuvakei's return, there'd still be an awful lot of people around here who'd immediately think of Super Happy Chips when someone mentioned the Nation. As far as I could ever tell, in the long run, his arguments were the more effective.

... And it's a terrible shame that he was wrong about the power he served. He truly believed the Nation could be redeemed. In that sense, he was a kind of idealist I can never be, but only admire.

Even if he was tragically mistaken, even if it is arrogant to try and force an ideal on reality, it's hard for me to find anything worthy of blame in what he did.

I hope Electus Matari is treating him well.

Quote:

Mm. Mr. Ixiris tells me I'm an arrogant person, and maybe that's so.

Perhaps it would be better for me to pretend to agree-- to make my apologies and mend relations. I would then cast a veil of illusion myself.

But I am not sure what more I have to learn from you that would make that worth the trouble. We are all hypocrites, at least a little, but that one would be a little ... much for me just now.

Here there is no social structure here for me to uphold, no delicate balance of relationships, no need to retain the peace. There is no overwhelming social need for me to hold my tongue, and so I'll speak my mind.

If that is unacceptable to you, perhaps we should end this discussion for now.

Well-- think about what you do for fun, Ms. Syal. If you're good at doing something, and you really like doing it, you probably do it a lot, right?

I'm someone who likes puzzles. My puzzles are made of words and ideas, and I like it when they mean something when they're all put together.

Right now, Krychton is working on a puzzle called "how to make Aria go away." I'm working on a puzzle called, "how to get Krychton to talk seriously." It's taking longer than I'd like, but I'm a patient person.

I'd like to be working on a puzzle called "Krychton's faith," which would be about what he really believes. That would be much more fun, but that one's hard to start while he's still trying to get rid of me.

Quote:

Yes-- I'm sorry about that, sweetie. It turns out I probably shouldn't have brought you into this. It's all right if you want to leave it to Krychton, or else I'm happy to talk with you, too.

Mr. Ixiris = Andreus Ixiris (he spoke up here earlier). He's from the Gallente Federation, has a lot of ideas he's very loud about, and he's sort-of my friend (like a friend who hardly ever agrees with you, but is still a friend).

Electus Matari = a group of capsuleers who work for the Minmatar Republic and against the Amarr. They've been around for a very long time. They believe in giving people second chances, so they'll hire pilots who used to be pirates or other "bad people." They're good folk. I like them.

(I like most sensible people, actually.)

Silver = Silver Night, who used to work for Sansha's Nation. He likes thinking and talking as much as I do, and tried to get people to stop being afraid of Sansha's Nation because he thought he could change them into something good. He did a good job, but I guess the Nation turned out to be more dangerous than he thought it was, so he left. He works for Electus Matari, now.

Kuvakei = Sansha Kuvakei, the leader who started Sansha's Nation. He believed he was making a great, good country that would make people happy, but then he started putting devices in people's heads that would make them do whatever he wanted. People thought he was dead for a long time, but now he's back and making his soldiers kidnap people and take them away. No one knows exactly why, but most of us think it's so he can put those devices in them and make them into more soldiers.

I hope that helps. If you have other questions, I'll try to answer them.
