Seriously. The new bugs aren't that bad. They are inconvenient or annoying at worst. CCP causes a few minor UI bugs and, judging by the prevailing attitude on the forums, people are ready to march on CCP's HQ and burn it to the ground.

edit: grammatical mistake.

Because this is only the latest in a long line of incompetency and complacency that their game is fine despite being broken for those that want more than crappy carebearing.

If we knew what they were trying to achieve by recoding the UI it probably wouldn't be so bad. Seems like a lot of work for something that looks the same, but has glitches now.

Define "Broken". 0.0 fleet lag is bad but CCP is working on it. Just because they don't have results now doesn't mean their ignoring it.

Because…

Note in particular corollaries one and five: for all intents and purposes, the game become 90% worse because of this patch.

Everyone isn't up in arms about it, but many are and you can't really blame them. There wasn't any real reason for the patch from player perspective, so why it was released in it's current state is hard to understand. When CCP really fudges a patch and things become actually unplayable, the level of ****storm it creates would make the current complaining about the patch look lika a gentle breeze in comparison.

Unplayable? I am playing just fine right now. The UI bugs are an inconvienience, nothing more.

I'm glad they don't bother you or that the bugs you encounter are not bugging you that much. Nor does the fact that this is typical CCP behavior, release buggy crap that isn't tested/developed properly, and ignoring the bug reports submitted by players until there is overwhelming pressure or embarrassment to do something about them also doesn't really effect you that much.

You ask why people are angry, well I'm angry because there wasn't any good reason for the bugs CCP knew about them and didn't do enough/anything to fix them. The people making the decisions to allocate resources, push patches, etc decided that these issues weren't worth working out before releasing the patch, just as they have been doing, business as usual at CCP, I don't accept that behavior if you or others do that is your choice.

Post with your main or come back when you have had no issues while pvping. Carebearing isn't exactly playing this game as it is intended.

Currently I have no local, no overview and cant use my system map amongst other issues. Bug reports filed, fixes tried etc etc.

I'd like to post with my main. But his account is dead. However, i have seen 0.0 lag first hand. However, there is still plenty of fun to be had without giant fleet fights. And no local? No overview? Did you even install the optional fix patch?

The fact that there are new bugs is the problem. Window resizing, constaly having to adjust my columns, severe lag when running two clients and one of them is in a station, taking twice as long to pull up inventory, every time I buy/sell an item my windows freak out for two seconds, etc...

Patches are supposed to fix problems, not cause more. CCP's lack of QA is getting abysmal.

Well for one thing, after a year of relative stability, I am now getting frequent random disconnects when running 2 clients on the mac.

The reason for refactoring the backend of a client program is generally so that one may swap out how the UI is built, or make radical changes to the UI and not affect the backend.

My ISK is on a possible UI improvement, or rebuild, in the future.

That being said: Having to move and re-pin my chat windows every day is an infinitesimal price to pay for an improved EvE UI.

read that article and it was spot on.

doesn't matter if it's a fukken' dba management application. if it has a GUI that looks like DOS, it's rubbish.

Perhaps they found something in the UI which contributes to lag, and are attempting a more streamlined method. Otherwise i don't see why they wouldn't just begin changing its appearance now.

I still think the main problem was how these glitches seemed to come out of nowhere, because people weren't prepared for it. We just logged in after patch day to a bunch of WTF, then found out they had undertaken something so pervasive after. That one brief line in the patch notes was overlooked and underestimated by many.

why is it carebears get blamed for alot of the bugs in eve.

yes pi is a broken carebear feature but there are more problems with pvp related stuff than there is carebearing stuff.

Broken Carebear stuff.
1. PI
2. Some assorted mission bugs
3. some bad pos models errors (gal pos)

Broken Pew Pew Stuff
1. Rockets/Rails
2. Faction warfare
3. Fleet lag
4. Probing scanner making annoying sounds bug (new)
5. Guns not firing when clicked on bug (new)
6. Assault frigs still not getting the 4th bonus
7. Supercarriers being too overpowered with no decent counter to it.

Bugs common to both pvp'ers and carebears
1. Overview ui is a complete mess annoying windows moving all over the place
2. Double overview entries
3. Drag n drop not working properly with regard to corp hangars and cargo bays.
4. Bugs in contacts list - not being able to select multiple contacts etc.

I think the point i am trying to make is the patch is not nearly as bad as people are claiming. People are calling the game "Broken" "Unplayable". The game is still very much playable. And I believe we should have some faith in CCP that they will fix these issues.

History shows us they will either take their time ie not do it for quite a while, work on it but fail, or get on it because it gets a lot of attention from users or the media making them look bad. What it doesn't show us is that we should just sit back and be quiet because they are going to take care of it, they probably will but mainly because it is so obvious that there is a problem. Faith is not something I'm willing to give or hold for someone I don't know, trust, or who has shown me they don't really deserve it but you and others are welcome to do with it as you please.

Because…

…look at your list again, and figure which group is more used to working around the… ehm… foibles of EVE, and then take a moment to think who'd be more shocked that, suddenly, out of nowhere, something would come around and affect their particular game experience.

(And that's without even touching on the notion that carebears, by their very nature, will be far more likely to complain about how their own particular needs aren't met.)

Not for you but for some it is.
Having your guns doing less and less damage to the point its pointless to have them fire in a pew pew game or your overview filling up your entire screen without being able to remove it I call pretty broken & unplayable.

Have a read backwards from this thread.
You are lucky others not so.

One of the best bugs is having ships that have been cynoed onto the grid show up as completely neutral, missing all tickers and standing. Yea way to **** up cap fights CCP.
