You guys need to layoff the comments, it's an "optional" patch. CCP has done a beauiful job over the years and I can personally state that from experience, just do the "optional patch" and enjoy the game.

This thing is a cpu hog.

I used to run 3 clients at about 60% cpu on my 2ghz single core. Now I'm 70-80% with 1 clinet, pegged 100% with 2, and dog slow response if I try to run all 3 of my accounts.

No need for 3 accounts if I can't use them all.

Windows are still borked.. and I'm still quite annoyed by it. Might want to fix it kinda soon, CCP. It's one of them things that new players are going to find, strange, annoying, frustrating, to the point you going to lose out some new subs.

It isn't an 'Optional' patch. It's a patch to fix what they broke from a patch that was mandatory. And it's pretty bad how little this patch did, with how much it broke. At a time when the player base isn't entirely thrilled with the company, wondering how they are devoting their time and resources to EVE over other projects. When a patch like this comes along.. it really, really makes people wonder if they just have some small B-team of programmers and devs left working on EVE when **** comes up this poor in quality. Is this what we get to expect come Incursion, broken old important features along with half filled, broken new features? Fantastic.. I was excited before, recently.. I am left, bland.

How can I be sure this successfully installed?

EVE just brought up a DOS shell window and hung when I restarted to apply the patch. I'm honestly not sure if it updated or just screwed the pooch and died.

About menu says Version: 6.31.185699

All in all I have to say this experience really does not command a lot of respect.

goto Esc/general settings, at the bottom in the middle does it say apply patch or patch applied? )or something along those lines).

I installed the patch, and there are still windows flipping its position when i close the martket window or the Skilltraininglist, to tell some examples.
I noticed that only the windows i set up in the corners are flipping its position, hope that will help a bit to find the problems.
Even after reseting all to standart positions and sizes and cleared the cache.

I hope there will be one more patch for this in the next days, because i love EVE really.

hi, the window stacking and positioning still don't work proper, after i open the cargo and put on the bottom-left corner, then open the dronebay and stack it on the cargo, then close them and open the dronebay first it appear on the top-left corner.
anyway, texts on the character selection screen are unreadable.
thx

erm and on the general settings tab the optional upgrade text and the lines arround it are badly positioned. whats up guys? u have changed ur coders? old ones were better. it is a simple task, really....

It appears that the "optional" portion of 1.1a refers to the optional nature of it actually fixing anything.

Looks to me as this is not an optional patch, it will not let me continue using the current version it indicates that the version is incompatable and will not let a person log back into the server, therefore the comement of optional should not even be stated.

ok well just logged in and started some mining. Still the fleet window cannot be stacked into overview, still the cargohold window reverts back to center of the screen, and the new drag n drop animation sucks ballz. The old one was way better. I have applied the optional patch already.

The good news, local can now be placed back off-screen. Hope you guys are having fun figuring our who spilt the coffee on the server and causing the FUBAR.

Cheers.

Just like to confirm that the patch did nothing for the chat windows. I still have the exact same troubles as I did when earlier.

I have 2 groups of stacked windows, each with about 3 stacked together. Every time I log in they scatter across my screen and ungroup from one another. Its getting to a point where I can't even be bothered to log in because I have to fix this every time. Rather just see CCP roll the patch back, it would be the smart thing to do.

I don't see any optional patch, checked the patch download section and all I see is the same patch that my current version is.

So where is this "optional" patch? or did you pull it for more patching?

All the fixes in the optional patch did not fix it. Evil or Very Mad

Clearing cache, reinstalling, deleting the whole setting folder and restarting to move all the windows around just leads to the same window misbehaviour again after restarting the client. Epic fail! At least I can move my chat windows that i can actually click on overview and move around a bit in space. Rolling Eyes

Odd, this optional patch requires you to log in FIRST and then you can download the patch. *shrug* Strange.

So you log in first, apply patch, client restarts, and then you relog back in to play. *scratches head*. Oo***.

As this patch seems to do very little, if in fact anything at all, does anyone else get the impression that it was just a PR stunt?

Confirmed that I did successfully install the patch.

Confirmed that it doesn't fix chat window cascading, or the resetting of window positions to default.

Jolly good job, guys. You look worse than Microsoft Adobe.

I am wondering why CCP is not replying now seeing all the players having problems they could actually be here and talk/reply to us and maybe even explaining why this is and what/if they gonna do something about it...

My guess? It's Saturday and most of the CCP folks are at home with their families or out at a bar. That's kind of the thing to do on weekends, after all...

TBH, I'm probably going to wait for them to fix the window bug before I patch up; I've still got a few days of training left on both accounts.

Which is the logical course of action when a patch causes wildly disproportionate quantities of bugs compared to the handful of tweaks and new features it introduces?

Is it:

A.) Allow the patch to remain deployed, frantically releasing emergency patches and hotfixes whilst the entire player base suffers through a laggy, buggy gaming environment.

B.) Roll back the patch, return to testing it in an actual testing environment, and allow the player base to continue enjoying the game while you iron out the bugs.

or

C.) Take off and nuke the entire game from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Also, performance is now so terrible that having two clients open with both characters on grid (even an empty grid, even if both cloaked) causes such lag as to make game unplayable.

However I can run six clients at the same time and no noticeable lag, so obviously there is not a distinct problem causing lag. Thats with all six clients running L4 missions, three clients at one and three at another.

I cannot run all 4 accounts at the same time without horrible "bursts" of lag that essentially freezes both/all accounts solid every time a ship blows up, or something changes, this happens whether I'm running 1, 2, 3, or all 4 accounts, and yes, the CPU usage has almost doubled even on my quad core system with 8 gig of ram and a decent Inet connection.

It is interesting that you mention this. I was wondering why Vista didn't chirp up and ask for permission to change stuff. I wonder what CCP actually did to get around this OS feature that *never* fails to be invoked by the standard EVE patching mechanism...

CCP please rollback this hideous piece of @#!$ u call a PATCH, it has done nothing but make alot of paying customers unable to enjoy this truly fabulous game, is it so hard to admit u guys screwed the pooch on this one? Seriously, roll it back and take the time to iron out the kinks, instead of throwing out an additional optional patch for us to test for u. that is just FAIL and shame on you CCP. ROLL IT BACK AND GET IT RIGHT.

lol u tell me to stfu and u cant even patch ur game? I'm glad CCP is meeting YOUR lowered expectations, moron. Thanks to people like u, CCP thinks they can keep shoveling out substandard content.I pay for this game for the enjoyment of playing, not for the "privilege" of beta testing and debugging their code. THATS what we pay them for.

Loaded the patch,, went out to do a mission,,,

Lo and behold I now have 3 leaders of my gang,, all the same character two fleet commanders and and one squad leader,, and the client is perminantly trying to update the window.

It goes without saying all the window bugs still exist.

Made me ROLFMAO,,, CCP should rename to "Bugs R Us".

Stuck my nose in here in the vain hope one day CCP will actually bother to listen to their customers who actually do bother to test this junk,,,
