EVE Online Tyrannis 1.1 has been deployed. This thread is for any issues you experience on Tranquility. We will be keeping an eye on this thread for any issues.

For general feedback please use this thread. Non-Mac-specific issues can be found in this thread.


  • There's an issue with downloading the Mac client through Safari. We recommend that you download it using Firefox or Opera. You can also try downloading the dmg file from the command line, "cd ~/Downloads; curl -O http://cdn1.eveonline.com/mac/eve-premium_004577_185699-mac.dmg".

  • There's an issue in windowed mode with the game window being smaller than the screen size and surrounded by black.

  • If you are experiencing issues downloading or patching the client, please file a bug report indicating what version of the client you are patching from and all relevant hardware and OS information.

If you have your main in station menu (character sheet,...,items) minimized to icon view only:

The icon tooltip text on mouse hover explaining the icon gets misplaced whenever you move your mouse over a new icon coming from the icon above: Is should get rendered next to the icon you're pointing at, but in fact it gets rendered next to the icon above you just left with your mouse.

If all PI actions are submitted and I select an extractor, choosing a source to extract, pressing install button:

The background of the extractor changes to yellow.

If I submit, the background color reverts to black again.. but:

If I choose to select another extractor instead of submitting right away, choosing another source to extract, pressing install button again:

Successive extractors do not switch background color to yellow.

So what's the purpose of just one extractor changing background color whenever there's actions not submitted yet?
Shouldn't all extractors with unsubmitted actions get a yellow background color?

Can't mount the latest client's disk image.

Downloaded the patch and the patch failed.

So downloaded the client from the website. IT takes a lil' while to download and then
mounting fails with the reason 'Not recognized' or 'error -4960'

Any ideas?

The patch is fails due to wineserver file being modified.
"Examining File : /Contents/Frameworks/wineserver -> SHA1 Error"


So your patch fails and I have to PAY again to download the full client? Can you fix the patcher so it can actually fix the file that you broke?

You have taken a game with broken pieces on the Mac client and made it an unplayable broken game. Yay. Good Job.

Same issues as above. patching failed. Tells me the files have been modified. please reinstall..

Im not spending my bandwith on a full client again. just dld it few days ago :/

1) When you split a stack with shift drag, it sometimes does not split the stack, it behaves as though the shift key is not held down. Happens most often if you click the mouse a split second after hitting shift.

2) The "logged out of audio chat" message pops up for no apparent reason.

3) Songs in the jukebox do not play all the way through.

4) The first PI extractor updated turns yellow, but none of the others do.

5) If you open the skill queue and drag a skill of a level higher than you are training and try and place it too high on the list, you get a red line, but moving the skill down to its proper place in the list does not make that line go away.

6) Corp members do not show as green with a white star in chat.

My install works fine, not sure if I'd dare use this file myself if I was in your position, but here's my Wineserver-file.

Maybe you have something installed that messes with executables?

Edit2: Btw, I saw someone had trouble with the windowed mode. Go back to your config file and find the macdrv section; change the Desktop section's "N" to "1600x1000" or similar, whatever you want your windowed size to be. "1600x1000" works well for me at a 1680x1050 monitor resolution.

Same issues. Downloaded patch, get about half way of installing then patch fails Shocked.

ISD Tsuroyaan couldn't help me to deny or confirm whether there's some official in game CCP Mac OS chat channel.

As a matter of fact there is "OS X" where I've seen CCP folks around once. Its motd is "Welcome to the official EVE Macintosh chat channel." ...

There's a link to Tyrannis 1.0.4 known bugs page which did not get updated neither to 1.0.5 nor to 1.1.

How about keeping stuff up to date which is meant to guide customer feedback?

P.S.: Excellent work of getting rid of that lousy client resource greediness in background mode, I can actually type this while the client's still running in the background.

Ship module activation/deactivation button sounds are broken.

There's still some minor click noise whenever you "enter the button area" with your mouse pointer... but "pressing the button" (clicking on it) is a silent action now, both for activation and deactivation of the respective module.

If you click the HUD scanner view button (between inventory and autopilot button), a "failure" sound is getting played when opening up the scanner window. The sound getting played is the one usually getting played whenever entering too long strings into text fields (e.g.: give money->enter "99999999999999"->press TAB).

I had this confimed by somebody using Windows client, so it's 1.1 and not Mac specific.

Also getting the 'eve-premium_004577 error -4960' issue when I try to install a freshly downloaded client.

This is, and let's be honest here, completely shocking CCP. I thought this patch was to address Mac client issues... did anyone actually test it?

Jukebox still unable to play a track to completion.

Seems like a few UI sounds/clicks missing (dropping an item after a drag-move, activating a slot, etc).

So CCP released a new build without testing that it works for the Mac? I would and do expect that from Blizzard but not from CCP. I have tried all of the suggestions, none of them work, so I am wondering exactly how long my paid accounts will sit idle because I cannot update the client...

How do you distribute a patch with an incorrect hash ? I mean really.... did the techs get drunk of something ?

10.5.8 fully patched, no non-vanilla software on the machine at all except Eve and Synergy.

Downloaded fine, on both systems. Bit of a wait to login but that has now gone away, presumably everyone attempting to log on at the same time.

Pleased to see and have noted so far:

1). The fps is up noticeably again;
2). The flickering on my ATI MAC has gone;
3). UI interactions seem a lot more responsive;
4). The response time of OS X when EVE is running is back to normal;
5). The LP store window response time has been greatly improved;
6). The Browser works again.

Two small issues:

1). When opening wrecks on both iMac and MacBook Pro, the wreck window appears in default screen centre. No amount of repositioning/pinning will stop the next new window from defaulting to screen centre again.

2). Re-ordering the LP Store window using the title tabs causes the "Required Items" index to get lost. e.g a Megathron Navy issue will require 1 x Small Plasma Smartbomb I and 168 x Caldari Navy Captain Insignia I as an example. Closing and reopening resets to the correct values. LP Cost and ISK cost seem unaffected.

With the exception of those two minor issues, so far so good. Thank you.

Is tabbed windows (e.g. Ships and Items, or the chat channels) being ungrouped, then moved and resized when you re-enter the station, restart Eve, or reopen them (anything where you go from a view that doesn't show them to one that does) a known issue? Because I have even manually deleted my Eve settings and reinstalled Eve, and I cannot fix this :-(

I've been trying to get the new client to run all afternoon / evening with no luck. I've opened a petition, filed a bug, etc... I've reinstalled the client from numerous fresh downloads across different browsers, from the terminal window etc. Did anyone encounter this issue and resolve it? If so, will you please let me know how?

The client shows the slash screen, then minimizes to the application bar, pegs the CPU and does nothing. I have to kill the process via the activity monitor. I'm using a MacBook Pro i7 which has had 0 problems in its still fresh life...




Ok, I got my Mac client working. Here is what I did in a nutshell:


Using the terminal program and a very diligent, cautious use of rm -rf (be warned you can get hurt feelings doing that in the wrong place!)

In this directory:

/Users/<mac.user.name>/Library/Preferences/EVE Online Preferences/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE

I had 4 different subdirectories, one for tranquility, one for singularity and two by IP #. I am assuming the IPs are reverse for DNS. They were named:

c_program_files_ccp_eve_87.237.32.22/
c_program_files_ccp_eve_87.237.38.50/

I deleted these via the term window and an "rm -rf" command as well as the tranquility directory.

There was also a very alarming looking dir:


/Users/<mac.user.name>//Library/Preferences/(null) Preferences/

Which I also completed removed. So I rm -rf'd a total of 4 directories: null, 2 IP named ones, and the tranquility one. I left my singularity one in place.

The tranquility client then loaded just fine and recreated the "tranquility" subdirectory similarly named to the one above.

So, again be careful if you use rm -rf, it's very unforgiving, but this is what worked for me.
