Multiple cores, we (most of us) have it. USE THEM !

That tool is terribad when it comes to update your client, especially :
- hashing files one at a time
- calculating missing blocks one file at a time.
- re-hashing files one at a time

Also, what's the point of the i/o speed ? who cares about r/w speed ? It's not like that tool is used for benchmarks..

When I try to use the sisi launcher. I get to the 6/8 downloading patch part then it hangs there at 0/bs. I have left it for hours it just sits there eating all my bandwidth.

Why does there appear to be no way to tell the launcher where to put the temporary files.

I use two HDs, one for my OS and system files (C:) that is very small and my main drive for everything else that is huge. Trying to install Sisi the launcher appears to be trying to put temp files into my smaller drive which doesn't have the room for it. So I can not install it.

Sounds like you probably want to tell your OS where the default temp dir should live then. If this launcher doesn't use that, then come back and complain Wink

Tried to repair my client numerous times, even used the sisi-launch, that was the only time i manged to get it working (not properly mind, incarna was stuck on loading screen and when i undocked the HUD was up, but so no graphics of any kind, and ofc settings were wiped aswell so had to reset the overview, urgh))

This one puzzled even me, cant see anything like it on this forum, it pups up with a error saying:

verification failure
client may be currupt, modified, blahblah, anyway,

Bad manifest signature, Timestamp "2011.1.11 09:50:16", expected
"2009.02.25 10:35:34"

and thats that.... 2009!? Really!?

First attempt was to install to the default directory. Fail.
Second attempt was to put it in a specified directory. Fail.
Third attempt was to manually type in the directory with no spaces in the path. Fail.
Fourth attempt was to force the installer to run as an administrator. You guessed it from this post... Fail.

Now, what I *DO* have is several clients running on this computer. Each directory is symbolically linked to save drive space, update times (Who wants to download gigs of UPDATES for the same client?). Maybe this is barfing somehow?

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1598459/SisiLauncher.exe.log

Included in the log file is what is written out in text box during the install.

I should also mention that it doesn't make c:\ccp\singularity either. I thought I'd try to make the directory, and nothing got dumped into it. When it gets to 7/8 it starts to download something, but then just stops.

Could it be just the download service not working, or something turned off at your end, or whatever?

Oh.. I'm also using Win 7 64-bit, US version. 6 gig of memory, installing to an SSD (50gig free), dual video cards (8800gtx and gts).

And you're welcome.

I'm currently doing the manual install and its running the auto-update. The download speed is horrid right now. 185k/sec when I typically get 1,200kb/sec from you guys when doing updates.

Now, I was just playing on one of my accounts and I didn't run into a problem.

Now trying to run Singularity I get a bad manifest signature.

Sorry for the double-posts. I'm trying to get this thing setup so I can play on Sisi on the 7th.

Looks like you guys put out an update, or, running Windows 7 - 64bit is the problem. Running WinXP at work, and this time it asked me if I wanted to download a new version, which I did. Then it asked me where the source directory is (Where I play on Trinity). I then browsed to where I wanted Singularity to live, and now its copying files over.

We'll see how this goes.

[Edit - 60 minutes later]

Somewhere in this particular thread, there was mention about registry entries, and suggesting deleting the entries and then retry. Well, I decided to investigate what is going on. Since XP worked and Win7 didn't, there had to be a difference. And considering that SisiLauncher has never been run on either machine, there has to be some sort of difference.

When I first ran the program on my home machine (Win7), it never asked me where to copy files from. I just assumed it knew by looking at other registry entries and guessed, or whatever. I went for a hunt for "CCP" as a key and found where the SisiLauncher stores its data. My Trinity install is NOT the default install directory. I looked at the values and data and found that there was no entry for where its to find the Trinity directory. I modified the key to where Trinity exists, deleted the data in the c:\ccp\singularity directory, restarted SisiLauncher and let her go. This time it started copying files from Trinity to Singularity (GOD I LOVE SSD!), however in the end it still failed to install. URL to log file as a footnote.

The other difference I noticed, in this most recent attempt, between the Win7 machine and the XP machine is that the Win7 machine died at step 4. The XP machine is happily downloading at step 6 (Much faster than yesterday too). Yesterday, the Win7 machine, on initial run, you'll notice in that log file I posted yesterday that it got to step 7. Today, it bombed at step 4.

Even after Step 4, the log server kicks up and says its failed (Warning) to verify manifest.dat as well that it can't find bin\NxCharacter.dll. I checked the directory, and its correct. The file doesn't exist. Could be because it didn't continue pass step 4, but, I'm not sure if it didn't copy the file from the Trinity setup or what.

So with the XP machine, the install failed as well, but it got a LOT further. It acutally downloaded something from your servers (About a gig worth) and started restoring files. I was in the Y:\EVE directory and I saw files being created. But in the end, another error popped up.

Win7x64: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1598459/SisiLauncher.exe.log (Initial attempt)
Win7x64: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1598459/SisiLauncher_Win7x64.log
WinXPx32:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1598459/SisiLauncher_WinXPx32.log

I work nights (00:00 EVE time to 12:00 EVE time) and if you'd like to abuse my machines, let me know and I can get onto TeamSpeak, or something, and we can hammer this out.

[Edit - Again]
After I closed off the XP installer, the Log Server kicked up. Another bad manifest signature. It opened it, read the file, but then spit out the following 3 errors:
default.lbw

222 2011.06.06 01:22:08:748 ExeFile CRT invalid parameter handler: <none>:0 in <none>
223 2011.06.06 01:22:08:748 Expression: <none>

I checked the machines time and it is accurate.

Are you using the latest Sisilauncher?

Edit: what I meant was that, if you're not using the latest Sisilauncher, ie not v1.29, you might be unable to start it successfully. This is due to some changes that have been made on the website that are not backwards compatible. To get around this problem, you just need to download the latest version of the Sisilauncher from here and try again.

Doesnt this look a lot better than 7 GB to download?
(6/8) Downloading patch: 41.3%, 428.76 MB/1.01 GB, 716.03 KB/s, 12m56s

To keep from having to redownload all 7.5GB (atm) and ONLY have to download no more than 1GB (atm) to play on the Singularity Server, copy your UPDATED eve live installation

c:\program files(x86)\CCP\EVE

to

c:\program files(x86)\CCP\Singularity

Delete the Eve.exe, eve.exe(safemode), and repair.exe out of the Singularity folder, so that the CORRECT binaries for singularity will be downloaded into it, in the steps below.

CHANGE the start.ini file in this folder, NOT in your live eve folder (DO NOT change anything in your live folder), as follows:

[main]
role=client
aid=0
server=Singularity
port=26000
edition=premium

Then, go into the sisilauncher tool and "Browse" to the Singularity folder. Then, hit the button in the sisilauncher that says "repair my test client".

That's it! This is something that sislauncher should do automatically instead of causing everyone to redownload the ENTIRE client when only a few files are changed between the versions.
This even helps prevent the errors people are reporting above as, if your live version works, the test version should as well. most of the errors above are from corrupted download (Not relating to eve at all, turn on checksumming of TCP and UDP packets to prevent corruption of downloads)

This is actually the second run of the repair tool; the first run downloaded 1.02 GB of data and also failed in a similar way but I didn't worry, thinking it was a transient error.

EDIT: a third run finished successfully...

Improvement idea that probably was mentioned before: maybe you should use the rsync protocol or bittorrent for the repair tool...

EDIT2: SiSiLauncher does not run eve.exe at all when I tell it to start up; only the log server runs. Running manually with /server:Singularity works.

Perhaps you should notice the name of the file that's listed as throwing the error, and do a google on it. You'll find that zsync IS rsync, but optimised for HTTP since we can't have a server doing custom diffs for everyone out there.

This error comes about when there's been some form of corruption when downloading data from the internet, so there's not really much that can be done.

Though the "rsync" idea came from seeing that the update is not done inplace and in a single batch (first downloading a blob that cannot be verified or repaired until zsync either works or fails), that there is no resume support or even timeout detection (unstable connections make installing large patches impossible).

Win 7 - 64 bit, with 6 gig of memory. Anyone else have similar stats and is having problems with Sisi? I've got 3 clients for Trinity and they all work with the updates, but Sisi seems to have an attitude with me.

SisiLauncher fails spectacularly with a memory fault (Already posted)
Deleted the directory, re-copied my primary game directory to c:\ccp\singularity, tried going to http://www.eveonline.com/patches/patches.asp?s=singularity and downloaded the "TQ to Singularity Patch". 700meg later, install attempted and failed. Tried to run the repair it suggested, it failed with a memory problem.

I'm just about ready to give up here. :(

Bugs:
Strip miner II's act just like normal mining lasers as I previously reported, they only make sound at the beginning of the cycle.
Heavy Modulated Beam Laser I look great but sound just like autocannons.
Target locking sound still very feint
Warp effects still don't display properly, used a harbinger, drake, pod and hulk

No issues with the luncher tool and or patching sisi so far.

i give up

edit: ok i didn't give up, manually copied the tranq client and redirected the launcher to it and BLOODY HELL IT WORKS!

thankyou ccp!
