THIS is funny: People play the game as ccp intended, it breaks, ccp fanbois try and get their tongues in deeper. Oh wait I see Ryhss recently got evicted from fringe NC space - so has to chime in everytime theres an issue that pertains to the area to vent his frustration.

Oh FFS, what are you crying about? If you lose ships, just go to the system next time after downtime and you will find them floating unharmed in space.

Oh wait, right ... that was just a one-time deal for the NC to give them back their lost 9 titans Rolling Eyes

So you better don't yell around how unfair lag treats you, it might backfire quite a bit.

Oi you are not allowed to post in this forum. I shall be reporting you to your superiors. When ever any of you post on eve-o you make the mighty NC look stupid. Well thats what I've been told.

Can you describe better the situation around? I have some question for you:

  1. How big was the fleet fight? How many pilots involved?

  2. Was the fight notification form filled for this? Did you set a dedicated node running just that solar system for that battle or many other solarsystem share this node with it?

  3. The fact that someone reports that there is lag in Delve and Curse, is it related to it or it is another issue?

  4. It seems that with Tyrannis the lag monster strikes more frequently than before in low populated systems. Is it always related to the solarsystem sharing the some node with other "hot" solarsystems?

I have E-Certification to answer two of these!

2. Dedicated node = just the one solar system on the node. Otherwise it wouldn't be dedicated.. Wink
4. Yes, low population systems usually have lag because they share a node with a big fight.

3 I can't really answer, but I'd ~guess~ that the affected systems in Delve and Curse are on the same node as that fleet fight. But, there might be a bigger problem. (If it was reinforced, then yea, there's probably some problems...)

Yes, the thing that I don't understand is this:

IF the node is reinforced it should run just a solarsystem. So why are other solarsystems laggy?

Two options come to my mind:
  1. Despite the fleet fight notification form was filled, CCP put that "hot" system on a shared node anyway. That is, the node was not properly reiforced.

  2. Some strange thing happen to other systems even if they don't share a node with a fleet fight.

Which one? I'm trying to ask some questions politely and in a quite formal way because I would like some simple answers from CCP.
I hope anyway that players filled the form, there was complaining from CCP about people filling petition instead of filling the fleet fight notification form.

Exactly, it shouldn't. Meaning it either wasn't reinforced, or some **** is broken (more than usual).

I'll try to keep this from becoming a slingfest, but I really wish CCP would fix the problems with lag or cowboy up and admit that they can't.

It's one or the other... but something has to be done.

I remember CCP Warlock stating that lag in almost empty systems is probably due to those sharing a node with a fleet fight, but she wasn't so sure about it, so I was asking for a confirmation.

Of course the problem would be much more simple if empty systems lag just come from node sharing, so I hope just this, but you know Murphy's law...

60 minutes since the last update from CCP. Reports from Curse are that lag is increasing. Reports from Delve are that there is no activity there at all. Reports from Pure Blind are that blackscreens still reign supreme.

No feedback either means a fix is imminent, or that CCP have no idea whats happening and are sipping on tea while hopping the server settles down.

Some good questions and hopefully I can clear up a few things about what goes on behind the scenes in these cases.

  1. The fight started with just under 600 pilots in local.

  2. Yes, however the first notification mentioning this system was at around 1400 EVE time, which is well after downtime. (We perform analysis and dedication of fleet fight nodes at downtime each day, which is why we ask for a 24 hour notice if at all possible). Because of this, the system was not on a dedicated node, but sharing with a number of other constellations.

  3. It is related the constellations affected were also in these regions (note this is constellation based not region based).

  4. If a system is sharing, and a fight in that system overloads the node (ie. 100% CPU), then it will affect the other systems on the same node. This is the reason we have the fleet fight notification in place, so we can move hot systems to separate nodes. It gives better performance for the fight, and reduces impact on neighbors.

I came in to the heat of it no problems but people that have been here are showing people not here. I'm guessing one of the reasons we get the 'can't log back in' anomoly is because the node is keeping you logged in and the server cant log you in twice. Because I cant see them, they arent here is my guess but because people in local have them as on they cant log back in?

Hope that made some sense to CCP.

Because you really need 24 hours notice of major fleet fights - why does your sov system have game mechanics that utilise timers under a 24 hour period - thus ensuring there will be fleet fights where the node can not be reinforced in time?

Oddly enough, although some people experienced the contrary, the lag wasn't actually that bad for me in RORZ. Targeted stuff fine and manually cycled my guns and they never got stuck.

The lag gods must favour me.

Because people already cry like a river for the length of the different timers.

That reply has little to do with game mechanics. It doesnt matter how good the concepts involved are if the mechanics and the game servers are not compatible.

Frustrating fights these past few days.

They seriously could have been fun and epic. Our opponents have been bringing it to the table as have we.

It's so upsetting flying logistics and seeing the broadcast, locking the target just to see "target is invulnerable" 3 minutes later.

Then, locking a target, getting reps on it just to have to wait 3 more minutes to unlock it.

"Come on Logi rep these guys"

"We would if we could get a lock on them"

There has got to be something you, CCP, can do to alleviate some of the load on these servers during fleet engagements.

All of the alliances involved in Pure Blind want to enjoy the game and have fun in the Sandbox you've created but the frustrations echoed aren't of spies, aren't of losing ships and aren't of losing space... it's because it's impossible to fight for it.

You can fit 250 in a fleet, in theory the game should at least support 500 in a system duking it out. At least give us this number. Right now, 50 vs. 50 is rough.
