I have been toying around with a Vaga as such: [Vagabond, Solo Vaga] Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Tracking Enhancer II Tracking Enhancer II Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Warp Disruptor II Dual 180mm AutoCannon II, Barrage M Dual 180mm AutoCannon II, Barrage M Dual 180mm AutoCannon II, Barrage M Medium Energy Neutralizer II Dual 180mm AutoCannon II, Barrage M Dual 180mm AutoCannon II, Barrage M Medium Polycarbon Engine Housing I Medium Projectile Burst Aerator I Warrior II x5 Not entirely sure its as good as it can get. What do you guys generally use? (Its for low sec mostly, and maybe the odd high sec war, so decided against the 220mm and cloak ) |

I am skilling towards one also, I would suggest losing the 2nd tracking enhancer, and adding a 3rd Gyro 2. Up your guns to 220mm to compensate for the range.
Finally replace your Rigs with Core Defence Field Extenders for a for a better tank. That seems to be the common fit.

Fits without a fitting imp, can switch out the nano for a dc.. But meh, the vaga can put the extra/speed to better use than a little extra ehp. If you get caught you are usually boned anyway.
Also, no fitting imp means you can plug in the two rogue imps for a little extra speed/agi. Or a hg/lg snake set even. |

Aye, I use the Cane as a bralwer sort of ship, Vaga is all about speed for me The 220mm one do seem to have a slight edge tho, gotta love the extra falloff. |

With 2 TEs you don't lose *that* much range with D180s but the step down in DPS is quite sharp. |

The vagabond offers little over a hurricane if fitted in 'facemelting' mode and/or in 'tanky' mode.
In my opinion if you are planning on dissing out the T2 price for a vaga and not use it in the only way it is actually superior to a hurricane then you are doing it (horribly) wrong.
And personally? I even find the amount of better speed/agility/reduced sig from the vaga compared to a hurricane to be insufficient to justify it's ludicrous price.
To put it bluntly, In my opinion a vagabond hasn't been worth flying anymore since the first speed-nerf hit, and especially not after the 2nd and 3rd speednerf and the tacklemods change. |

As I said: I, PERSONALLY, find the benefits not worth the +-5x more expensive hullprice (I haven't followed the vaga market for a while so excuse me if my guestimate is outdated). I understand that once you reach a certain skill-level and money-making/holding level it becomes more reasonable to look over the exponential increase between the increased cost/increased efficiency curve but I would reason someone at the experience and money level that I personally deem required to consider such a purchase would not need to ask for fitting/usage advise in something as this forum section. It is on this assumption that I based my advice and post. If it turns out I misjudged the OP's situation, I apologize for that. I do however stand by my statement and convictions. I personally am a 75mil+ SP april 2005 character with more than sufficient enough means to provide a solid income that would support generous T2 ship usage, but even in my situation I (still) find it much more enjoyable, educational and relaxing to fly 3-5 hurricanes for the cost of 1 vagabond and all the paranoid careful flying that such a glass, speedy, but glass nonetheless, cannon requires. And if I do find myself wanting to fly a T2 cruiser hull I would still prefer a rapier, huginn, scimitar and/or broadsword over the vagabond. (I don't fly muninn's for the same reason I don't fly vagabonds: hurricane can perform adequately comparable for a fraction the cost.. moreover who in their right minds would primary a hurricane in the midst of a sniper-hac gang, it's like a don't shoot me sign wrapped around your ship that actually WORKS) ps. Apologies for the intensive use of the comma and parenthesis (is that plural or does it require a ' ?).. lol |

You cant really just look at hullprice alone, you have to figure in survivability to properly judge effectiveness. And then there is the fitting price that people often seem to forget, a HAC hull might run you 110mill while a BC hull goes for 25mill, both need the same basic fittings and ammo for around 25mill, leaving us with 135mill HAC and 50mill BC and ratio down to about 2.5-3:1 already. As far as vaga vs cane goes, they both excel in different environments, but personally I tend to lose a lot less ISK flying the vaga. My canes tend to survive a few days at most while my vagas typically live for months even in bigger engagements. |

Aye if that is the case for you then it does indeed make sense to fly a vaga over the cane. For myself however this doesn't seem to be the case, I usually engage in a more aggressive 'all in' fashion of pvp (and die in fires a lot). So I guess I am a less capable vaga pilot than you, but I personally like dying in fires from time to time so it's all good |

I do not know this 'dwarf paladin barber' thing you speak of. Aside from being a response of confirmation assigned as a characteristic of this so called 'dwarf paladin barber' in whatever fictional (game) universe you are referring to, it is more COMMONLY seen as something a pirate would say. The fact you interpreted my 'aye' as being a reference to the first cultural archetype I just mentioned (which I had no knowledge of up until your mentioning of said archetype) seems to indicate you place the association of the word with that archetype to be of a more likely occurrence than with the latter. tl;dr: what is 'dwarf paladin barber', precious? |

The vaga is the best 0.0 solo roamer hands down. Hurricanes don't have a patch on them, solo or otherwise.
Speed and dps fit them, if you need tank you are doing it wrong.
Oh, and at risk at getting flamed to hell and back, fit an improved cloak, you will be virtually impossible to catch. Who needs T3's to run bubble camps? Not a cloaky vaga pilot.
Edit: Just read OP properly, yeh something like that for low sec

@SFX; I understand your point, and I usually fly the Cane myself. Sometimes I find that it do lack that extra speed, and when I can push my vaga 2700/3900 m/s it should let it survive, if I am careful enough. SP wise I am more then capapble to fly one, but I do not have all that much time in it, but only one way to learn I figure. If its worth it in the long run, time will tell, if its jsut too expencive I will stop And you are right, the prices are quite steep now. I have tried catching UK vagas while I lived in AM space (while AM had space), a while back. It was indeed tricky I did however find a fit similar to the one I posted in OP, same tank, same speed, med neut, bigger guns. So I guess thats ok |

Longer range guns are good. Vaga fights at between 'overheated web/scram' range and 'point' range. So fitting 220s there will make quite a notable difference to your effective firepower. Even if you do a straight swap - D180s to 220s, and swap the projectile rig for an ancillary current router. |

thats not a nano-canes top speed with mwd, thats what you get with gyros, te2 and dcu in the low. try whacking nanofibres, overdrives in, should be hitting around 2km/s |
