If your bored try something new, this is a game so if youíre not having fun then somethings wrong. Most important advise is if you feel like stopping then do so (donít hurt me ccp), take a month off and then realise. Holy cow Eve is teh bomb!

I went through a phase like that a couple of months ago.

I just couldnt face another level 3 mission, it was just too repetitive.

So I just set some 2 weeks skills and just checked on them now and again. Im back playing full time again but I can tell I'm going to need a break soon.

Set a long skill and come back in a fortnight - a change is as good as a rest!

set a nice long skill training that you know you need and play another game for a while. a 2-3 week break does you good.

-Yesterday me and 4 friends killed a raven and 2 frigs and we were not camping, we were patroling looking for a target. look for another place or way to pvp.
I play eve cause when i got tired of pvping, i can go to empire and run missions, or mine to make some isk, or ncp hunt in 0.0, or i could join eve radio army and pvp in noob ships to have some good laughs, if i were tired of all i've said, i still could train some production skills and become a trader for some time... (enough, i think you got the point).
Having a good corp with many good lads to work and laugh with helps a lot too Very Happy

Camping is for noobs Very Happy

Real men hunt blobs on map and die trying Very Happy

Still think they should nerf the map though to only show populated as Y/N as opposed to how many peeps are there....would make hunting more adrenalin boosting

Eve does become boring at times, it's the very nature of the game, unless you one of these pve grind, must get standings up.... all you live for type of people, your allways going to feel bored at one point or another.

Been there done that. What did i do, join a BIG corp, bet your life within 100+ people your going to find a few like minded folks that think atleast in part with your own ideas and how you want to get along.

Think iv'e found that now.. sure we camp, we wait, we have to do the grind in the game to do what we want to do, unavoidable realy.

But it's the other stuff that makes it all count, brings it all together, the laughs on teamspeak, the mates atmosphere, stops near all of the boredom.

Probaly the main reason im still here, lots of different things you can do, ultimately most will become boring in the end... it's what you make of it yourself, and with others... it's a massively multiplayerSmile

I agree with all the above people.
With this game there are SO many other things to do!!!
Mine, PvE, PvP, trade, research, manufacturing,...... I'm not sure how you can get bored.
But a nice break is a good thing. Set a 2 to 4 week skill and go do the christmas thing, or something different and come back. see what you think then.

They might nerf EVE into two playstyles only.
"miner"
"fighter"

we all know what happened to piracy, and how the warfare changes affect mercenaries.

don't forget about the number 1 occupation in EVE:

Station Spinner

can we get some skills for this wonderful career path, CCP ?? i got some ideas...

- Station Spinning - this will be the main category. in the future, you won't be able to "orbit station" without this skill. Gives access to special tab in ESC menu.

- Orbiting - 15% increase in max "velocity" per skill level (unadjustable).

- Advanced Orbiting - Additional 5% max "velocity". Allows user to adjust current speed by up to 10% of the max per level (through ESC menu). f.ex, if you have level 3 and your max speed is 200, you'd be able to adjust it any speed between 140 and 200.

- Station DJ - Allows the user to set "scratch" sounds to their mouse movement while in station. 2 memory banks per level can be programmed.

- Rythm Section - Allows the user to insert a loopable sound pallete. 2 loops per level of skill.

.
.
.

okay. you get the idea...

Sad to say, EVE does suck. As far as the actual game engine itself, it's superb apart from a few bugs. It's the gameplay that is severely lacking. PVP combat is a seldom occurance in the game. It generally few and far between since the risk/reward ratio is so low, not to mention all the other countless loops and hurdles you have to pass: 2-day wait periods for war declaration, cost of war, sec rating hits for piracy, logoff tactics, alts. The list goes on and on. I think the biggest problem is that PVP combat has become too consentual to be a profitable means of sustaining oneself in EVE.

Anyways, i play eve for the combat. Nobody occupies 0.0 except a very negligable population. These players are usually the ones with >5mil sp. Just get rid of concord, problem solved!

Of course, most MMORPGers just like the capitalistic elements of MMORPGs; They like to collect, collect, collect and not fight. So this probably wont happen any time soon. If a good majority of the players enjoy carebearing, why should CCP change anything, they are a corporation with money as their primary driving force.

Way back then, EVE was supposed to appeal to a different community of players. Read the developer interviews and you will see that EVE promised something unlike how it is today. Now its just gotten ******ed cause CCP realized that they could please more people by giving into the carebears of other MMORPGs and turn the game into one ugly bastard child that tries to satisfy both types of players, and fails miserably.

My solution to the problem is remarkably simple.

*Remove alts or make them tracable
*Add timers to prevent you from logging off until a certain amount of time has passed in space.
*Turn the task of Concord over to the players and allow justice to be completely administered by them. Eventually you will see the rise of player-run governments.

I wouldnt say EVE sucks. Although for those more interested in PvP there are certainly dry spells, and blob wars *do* suck, totally.

As for your solutions, the first 2 I agree with. The last one is a bad bad idea. You can NOT trust the average guy to be the police, you'll get a zillion greifing gankers at every empire gate and noobs and "carebears" will quit in droves. The game needs 100% safe places for people who have no PvP interest.

IMO, the game needs 3 things more than anything else.

1> Less sec penalty for killing people in < .5 sec systems, so make piracy there more viable.

2> Something unique available for mining in belts in < .5 systems to ad incentive for "normal" players to go places in low sec empire systems that will provide the pirates with a target. That way pirates and anit-pirates alike are more likely to find targets in empire space, while adding something lucrative enough to get the miners out there.

3> NERF the stupid "people in space" on the map. Alliance warfare is no fun because of blob wars.

Slowness is in the mechanics. You can spend hours (or days) gearing up to give someone else a thrill for 2-3 volleys in the space of 8 seconds. What most consider fun is very expensive for other people. It's no wonder they get burned out if nothing else is fun.

If we were properly Wittgensteinian, we'd say that others can only be observed pursuing their own highest good. Thus, people sitting in safespots in ships they can't readilly afford to replace all day are doing what they enjoy most: i.e. sitting in safespots plotting away on irc channels.

If it was harder to kill each other, we'd whine about not being able to play the game in some ideal fashion or some "unbalancing" in game play. However, I suspect we'd do it anyway because shooting at others is fun even if they don't die. It's how the time economy of eve breaks down. People like the the concept of balance , but they don't ever appreciate it physically or through their actions.

If people wanted to say they were fighters, and wanted to be observed by Wittgensteinians as fighters, they'd be fighting all day long. Probably though, they'd all be fighting in frigs or bantams if they get blown up 60 times a day. The trick is, "how do we trick them into doing this?" Secondly, how do we do this without making fighting start to seem silly or pointless?

Clearly there is a middle ground, but we are still waiting for the pendulum to start swinging.
