Hiya everyone.
I am fairly new to EVE and just wanted to get a feel for when people POD other pilots.
Do you:
POD those you are war with
POD those who try to enter your space
POD those who initiate a fight
POD those who have angered you(ore stealers scammers.. etc.)
POD anyone you initiate against (even in 0.1 - 0.9)
Have the view "POD the Universe"

Before everyone starts flaming and calling people carebares. this is not about that.
Last night i was attacked in 0.4 (yes i know you take your risks in that space) but was supprised that they then podded me too??Evil or Very Mad the person had a 4.1 positive security rateing (well he did have now its 2.4) and just wondering if there are heaps that fight like this? this 0.4 system was close to empire space too.. and a fair way from any 0.0's
Pls keep coments to usefull onesLaughing

Well, when I first started pira.... freelancing, I was kind of shy about pod killing other players. Part of me was thinking, "I don't want to be too mean to this guy."

After a while, I started saying "I MUST CONSUME HIS IMMORTAL SOUL AND FEAST UPON HIS FLESH! THE INNOCENT MUST SUFFER!"

So, you get used to it after a while really.

It boils down to whether or not you respect the other guy and yourself I guess.

If you're some 200 members beating the crap out of some 15 guy outfit and they stand their ground I'd consider it unclassy to pod their pilots and ruin the little pet war you got going.

Eeh, why NOT pod ?

I mean, war is waged out fo conlict of interests.
To prevail means damaging your enemy.
To damage your enemy most you pod.

That's how I see it and practice it every day.

VERY true,TBH i have poded ppl i think are cool, and missed total nubs pods...POD when you think is right, will it make your opponents suffer and fear you eg? if you have had a realy good fight, maybe let them go as a thank you. i know after my ship has gone pop ppl have let me go due to the fact i dont smacktalk and gave a good fight... totaly up to the player!

I pod anyone im at war with...
like CA or celes, if i ever get the chance. i tend to think of it as damaging my foes.
other than that, i pod people who i think are spys, but i usually give them 1 chance. (i.e. if they warp back in and sit there in a pod, i destroy it.
or, if they **** me off. like this one person who called me an ass when i had there pod 1/2 dead and scrambled. i was going to let her go... then she called me an ass.

In the beginnig of my pvp "career", I almost never podkilled ppl - we destroyed the ship, but let the pod warp out in most cases.

You'd be surprised to see how many pods that just didn't leave after their ship was destroyed - they could sit there for minutes, until we told them to leave and they did.

Then I joined a 0.0 alliance, and since you only enter 0.0 on your own risk if you know the dangers and so on (at least that's how it should be), I learned to always try to get the pod.

So, I usually try to get the pod, but it depends on the circumstances aswell - sometimes it's better to go for the next target instead and so on.

POD those you are war with - YES
POD those who try to enter your space - YES
POD those who initiate a fight - YES
POD those who have angered you(ore stealers scammers.. etc.) - YES (If I can be bothered to fight them)
POD anyone you initiate against (even in 0.1 - 0.9) - YES
Have the view "POD the Universe" - No, I usually try to not podkill ppl with +10 standing (including corp mates) unless they ask me to

Of course there are times when you shouldn't pod. Like when you are engaging multiple ships, you don't want to attack a pod when others are still attacking you and your friends.

If you have a reason to shoot his ship you have a reason to shoot his pod.

Hence, if you have no reason to shoot his pod, you have no reason to shoot his ship.

I understand people just open fire because they can.Rolling Eyes I also have no problem i lost... well i do.. i bitesCrying or Very sad.. but heh.. thats PVP.
What i didn't understand was podding for what i saw as no reason. I put up a good figh and was winning.. untill my capacitor ran out (need to increase skills) I have not come accross him or his corp, neither has my corp and where we were was not anyones "teritory"
it hurts loosing all the implants that were given to me and was just wondering how many people who PVP actually finish off the POD too?

Always try to get away with the pod, even if you don't care and selfdestruct it rather than give him the satisfaction and a corpse.

That is if you're not fighting an upstanding enemy, as you seldom do.

I haven't podded yet. But then again the loss of the poor guy's interceptor made me feel bad. I mean, insurance only covers market value for those things :(

With the rarity of implants these days, waking up in clone factory hurts a hell of a lot more then it used to. I try to keep that in mind if it's your typical casual pvp. Some heated wars/fueds, however, it's all the more reason to pod 'em. Just depends.

War is war. If you get a shot at a pod take it. Respect is not an issue, the issue is how much damage you can cause to your enemies. The price of implants at the moment might keep this guy out of a bs to replace them. It might even keep him out of the fighting if he has to make some cash for them.

There's also the operational considerations aswell. Pods can make fairly decent scoutship when needed. They're very quick into warp and very hard to catch a hold of.

The answer for me is this. If I am at war against people I can res[ect, then I will not pod, regardless. I have destroyed the weapon, what else would killing the pod accomplish.

When fighting Gankers, griefers or pirates, I pod.

Podding is a part of the game
To miss a pod is really a shame
An insured ship lost
Incurs no cost
But for implants you can't say the same.

A corpse is a reward to me
I hang them where people can see
I do naughty things
With all the joy that that brings
And keep them in a can called 'Trophy'

miner gankers and peeps who initiate fights for no reason i understand I always try and pod.
during fleet battles and corp war activities, I try and avoid it as it usually only gets them back into a ship faster and hence back into the frey.
