I introduced my wife to MMOs so its the other way around for me.

However, I am aware of at least two wedding this month by players who found each other in EVE. There are a lot of love stories that started in EVE. Some of them even started after one person ganked the other. It goes to show that chatting in local is underrated!

Yes i did!
We had been playing in the same corp for maybe a year or so in a swedish corp. I joined the corp after an internet friend told me to join his corp. I did. I even visited him a few times in Gothenburg and met a lot of great people (Hello GGRG!), drank a lot of beer and ate pizza.
The summer of -08 my corp had their annual BBQ-meeting in the south of Sweden and I decided to go there to meet with my corpies.

I was not the only girl; one guy brought his wife, but otherwise I was alone among 30 guys in the ages of 18 to 50 (never felt safer tbh). I had met only one of the guys before, in Gothenburg and the rest I had only spoken to via ventrilo or TS. We had humungus amounts of beer in the cellar for 5 sek a can (0.5 or $0.7). We even had a killboard for the beer :D

At the end of the first day we decided to watch Clear Skies, and I happened to steal the last chair so one guy (a really tall and skinny one) didn't get any place to sit and decided it was easier to move me and place me in his lap than move one of the other drunk geeks in the room. And one thing led to another... Twisted Evil

But we didn't hook up then, we just had that little fling, went home to our home towns ad continued to play in the same corp, while dating others. I think it was in the spring of -09 we talked a bit about me going down to him for a visit, and came to the conclusion that it was a very good idea.

Now one and a half year later we're still together, still in the same corp and are talking about me moving down to his place. We're both totally gamers so I don't bug him too much if he spends a whoel day at his computer playing SC2, and he doesn't bug me when I play civ4 or run mission with the alty.

TL;DR - Yes, I met my boyfriend in EVE, 2 years ago.

Don't personally use EvE as a dating app., but had the following conversation earlier...

wife: can you pause the game we need to talk now...
me: erm... no... you can't pause it... those red flashy things are trying to kill me...
wife: well tell them to stop for a minute...
me: I can't... sorry... give me 10 minutes...
wife: but it's really important...
me: what is it that can't wait 10 minutes???? [*expensive faction ship hits structure*]
wife: does my bum look big in this?

Yes! I met my gf while pirating in a system called Eurgrana, a little system the border between Geminate nullsec and Metropolis highsec. So there she was trying to camp my Vagabond inside station with a Condor and a few of her corp mates in various battleships and battlecruisers.

Fast forward a few minutes and several lines of smack talk in local later. I decided to hop out of station and see who I could harass and maybe even grab a kill. To my surprise they didn't shoot at me at all, I guess they knew I was awesome and could easily take them with the sentry guns help. I decide to engage the poor little Condor, knowing I couldn't tank the guns for more then 30 seconds or so I popped my warrior IIs out and started to fire! Two volley's later, the Condor was dead and I had warped off laughing and smacking some more in local.

A few more minutes pass and I start to get bored, I thought it'd be a cool idea to paste my Ventrilo details into local and see if I could smack them verbally too. To my surprise a few of them connected and man was I in for a surprise. Out of no where this cute, young and very attractive sounding voice started to smack back! I played it cool, things calmed down and we got talking about silly things, I can't really remember but I was having a great time and I guess she was too. So over the next few days, I continued to run around Germinate and kill more of her corp mates and shoot at her a few times, she continued to jump on Vent and talk to me.

This went on for a few weeks and I had started to buy her ships to PVP in and skillbooks to train, I guess this was the EVE equivalent of flowers or chocolates. We would spend hours every day talking, flirting and getting to know each other. We did this for about four months almost every day, things were getting more serious. We started to introduce webcams, I'll let you imaginations run wild.

So about six months in to the now crazy relationship, still spending every day with each other on Ventrilo, EVE and whatever else we could find to do together - I decided it was time to jump on the train and go meet up!

The next few weeks were amazing, I was defiantly in love and everything seemed more 'real' and 'normal', whatever that means. Was no longer the strange relationship online and was something very special.

This went on for about a year, both of us taking small trips the 120miles or so to each others apartments. Making a long story short, we now have our own flat and two cats called Vaga and Ibis, because Condor is a stupid name for a cat :/

It's been well over two years now since we first met, nearly three and we're still madly in love and playing video games together! She isn't so into EVE any more, but I still play and continue to love every second!

With all that said, I want to thank CCP for creating a game that introduced me to a very special woman!

Also; I'm totally aware of how sad this is, but I know for sure it isn't as uncommon as you might think!

EVE couples, share your story!
