Sitting here with my trusty hauler doing a 36 trade jump.... Can't help let the thought wonder over to Star Trek and compare, seems a lot of people compare stuff here :=) *Lasers are better then projectiles* and so forth and so on...

Well I was just thinking, the star ship that is the centre of Star Trek Voyager, Intrepid class... What ship in EVE would you most likely think could be a Intrepid?

I would have to go with the Minimatar cruiser Stabber (not very alike) But both ships are fast, have descent weapons (of course Voyager can fire 50x more torpedoes then it can carry Shocked but that’s not the point Razz )

Thinking of the Voyager from the last two episodes of the final season it's more like a cruiser sized ship with armor hp like an Apoc imperial issue, the armor resistance of a sacrilege and the damage output of several POS sentries Twisted Evil

Umm can't help but think thorax.

It's got the looks, does partial damage and goes down faster than brick thrown in a river.

But it looks good, so who caresSurprised

tbh there is no comparison, i can't think of any eve ship where all the consoles on the bridge explode in a shower of sparks as soon as it gets hit the first time, and the shields instantly go to 50%, then more stuff explodes, but still kicks ass.

wonder if you could you armour tank voyager?

well they sould have used a 100mwd they would have been home in the first season
or mabye fit it with a named borg weapon .. would probley kick ass plus cheap to cause they dont value money
or maybe janeway sould have bought the jump drive skill
or even set it on autopilot and went and got a coffie of something.. probley would have been home by the time she got back ...or multi specs she could have jammed all those ships attacking her .. or maybe tryed using some warp core stabs... the borg wouldnt had the chance to gank her at all those planets
well the whole crew sould have just cloned jumped.. would be the smart thing to do

Whenever I go on missions, and I target a Gurista Wrecker (i think its this one), the targetted icon looks like a silhoette of voyager....or is it just me..

Guess this actualizes the question of being able to declare war on a NPC corporation, anyone g'hey-hey enough to produce anything similar to the Voyager should be hammered into oblivion.

I'd say its most like the ship that takes a venerable and revered franchise and runs it straight into the ground with bad acting and horrible writing in an attempt to cash in on rabid fans of the genre.

Whichever ship that is, sounds kind of like an ishtar to me.

A scout class ship from Star Trek would wipe the floor with an aramada of battleships from EVE.

1) Star Trek Lasers (Phasers for the pedantic) travelling at the speed of light correctly never miss any target they are locked on to. Where Eve lasers couldn't hit a fking moon from 10KM away.

2) Star Trek weapons can actually do damage! Eve weapons would struggle to destroy anything even if it was the 1 in 100 shot that actually hits its target.

3) Big Star Trek Battleships can actually kill sh**y frigates in a single hit! Eve weapons can't even hit a frigate, despite the fact that the weapon always visually hits the target frigate, I guess the HUGE frigate shields must harmlessly absorb all that energy?

4) Star Trek doesn't change the rules of Physics in it's universe based on little babies that cry about the fact their 500k frigate died in a few shots to a Battleship that costs up to ~22,000% more.

etc.

jovian frig.

if you ever looked into S.E.T.I they rank any civilisation that may exist on another planet by its 4 types.

the star treck ships fall into a type 2.
atm humanity in rl is a type 0.
the 4 playable eve races are type 1/2.
jovian are type 2.
borg type 3.

im a massive trek fan and general sci-fi and space nut.
so come get me

I dunno dude. Last time I checked that POS Defiant, and the other POS Delta Flyer that Tom Paris built out of scrap parts sure seemed to make it through a lot of fights concerning Battleships. These were both tiny ships compared to their counterparts. Granted Defiant is closer to a cruiser class vessel but still relatively small and sturdy compared to most Star Trek ships.

I have seen plenty of phasers fired and completely miss the targets.

I think Paris would have pitched a fit if the Delta Flyer got smooshed every episode.

I would have to agree with the Thorax on looks. Everything else, not too sure about, as i lost ability to watch it when my family moved from the city to the sticks.

Anyone who has a personal opinion on this matter will be known as ComicBookShop Guy from The Simpsons from now on.

None of you had to even ask for a picture to see what an Intrepid class Star Trek ship looks like.

Are none of you ashamed?
