Hey,

So i never tried making a fit myself before, figured i would give it a try. Constructive criticism please.
Wanted to make a fleet fit for a drake. focused on not getting instantly killed (time to warp out, should you get targeted, but not scrambled), but still able to deliver some damage.

Purger rigs and shield power relays will not help you in a fleet fight. Go for more buffer and preferably more damage mods. 286 dps is pretty low.

Ok i changed it a bit, would have liked to fit some damage rigs, but this setup already requires a cpu implant.

2 LSE, 2 invul 1 dc and 3 extender rigs for tank, don't need anything else. The rest is kinda ok.

1) Dont use passive hardners they are junk. fit active EM instead
2) You dont need a MWD on a drake unless your FC is an ***. Drakes have an optimal of 0-max no need to hurry up and get in range. Though if your doing an active roam it becomes (slightly) more useful. Drakes are never primaried by anyone who has ever FCed so even with an AB you have time to get out of the bubbles usually. Plus a decent FC and scouts will keep you out of bubble camps unless they are planning on taking the camp out.
3) 3 BCS = better
4) mids should be 1 em, 1 heat, 1 invuln on hardners. 2 large extenders., 1 AB T2. For CPU problems gimp your extenders down to meta 4s. Use a named Heat and then a named EM if you have further cpu problems.
5)for better range and more kills replace the heat for a sebo carry both scripts. fit 1 hydralic bay thruster. Should give you a range of ~ 85km skills depending.
6) use Furies for short range work( usually offensive). CNs for long range( unsually defensive).
7) Your optimal warp in should be 50 KM. You want to give yourself 20 km of range off the warp in point to play with.

MWD is over glorified by boys with their toys that like to go fast. MWD mainly used to: A) tackle B) get in range of optimal and sometimes used to c) get out of bubbles. Its a waste on a drake. On every other BC i would say MWD no doubt about it but not on a drake, that CPU and PG can be much better used elsewhere.

Nobody primaries a Drake.

7 x HML II

1 x Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive
2 x PWNAGE Target Painter
2 x Invul II
1 x LSE II

1 x DC II
3 x BCS II

3 x CDFE I

5 x Some light drones. ECM or shield maint probably.

> MWD for range control and burning back to gates (always worth it).
> 3 damage mods because you want to do as much damage as possible.
> Doesn't need more tank: enough buffer to allow a warp if you suddenly take hits (if it isn't, chances are more tank wouldn't have helped) but by that time it means loads of your guys are already dead (unless somehow you're the most dangerous thing in your fleet - there are larger problems if this is the case).
> Dual painters because everyone loves extra damage and faster locking, especially on tacklers and nanoHAC's.

With my skills I get (compared to your stats)

EHP: 83,213 (94,260 overloaded)
DPS: 380 (I also have two target painters - SCORE)
Speed: 1038 m/s

Swap second painter for a f-s9 LSE and I agree. Unless you're running solo there will be other drakes to paint the target, 2 painters per drake are a waste of tank (namely, about 15, 20k ehp per drake)

Yeah, that was my first attempt as well. Sadly it's JUST short on CPU and I prefer to plug the PG implants in since I get more use out of it. I also rarely trust everyone else to fit the same way I do and therefore don't count on many others taking painters.

If you have the CPU implant or switch the DC for a best named then it fits (and is likely better as pointed out). Last time I checked best named DC's were mental expensive and I'm quite cheap though.

Confirming the reasoning here is logical. Drakes are known for their supertanks. You can use a bluff tank( You think i have a big tank but really you could kill me in an AF). The larger the fleet the less tank you need and the more dps/range you do need.

I use this:

[Drake, Shalebridge Cradle]
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II
Damage Control II

Large Shield Extender II
Invulnerability Field II
Invulnerability Field II
F-90 Positional Sensor Subroutines, Scan Resolution
Warp Disruptor II
10MN MicroWarpdrive II

Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile
[empty high slot]

Medium Core Defence Field Extender I
Medium Core Defence Field Extender I
Medium Core Defence Field Extender I

Warrior II x5

Nothing wrong with using ECM drones instead of warriors, or subbing off for a painter or two in the mid slots. I don't generally fly in big enough fleets to get away with that, and this barely fits with a 3% CPU implant.

I have no idea what fleets op means, but for standard militia gangs /around 20-25/ i use web+scram or disruptor+scram/web as ewar - yes, kmb implant and named mods...
Just in case some stupid hac/recon/inty pilot comes into my scram range - so i can learn him he has to keep distance from all targets, not just primary. Also allows me to hold down ship in place while im still shooting primary.

Sometimes i use 2x bcs, 2x nano, but even then i use web.

Sorry forgot to tell... Swap third BCU for PDU. If you're going in a fleet then your singular dps isn't that important.

Agreed. There IS a reason why the drake is so universally used.

The reason is: it's a GOOD ship. And an effective pvp ship too. If you're trying to solo pvp with it though, you fail.

It's not a terrible solo boat compared to most caldari ships.

Sort of related...

If I'm in a small fleet (ie: me and 3 of my friends, 1 of whom is an inty, 1 cruiser (moa), 1 battleship (dominix), and me, being a Drake), would it be worth it to use Heavy Assault Launchers and fit a buffer tank?

Yup. This is how you'd do it:

7 x HAM II
1 x Small Unstable Power Fluctuator I

1 x Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive
1 x Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
1 x Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I
2 x Invul II
1 x LSE II

3 x BCS II
1 x DC II

3 x CDFE I

5 x Some light drones (ECM or Warrior II)

Needs a PG4 implant to fit (which makes a lot of other awesome ship fittings possible) but if you don't want it or already have an Omega in there, replace a HAM with a HML (rage) instead of fitting a PDS - you lose less dps that way.

As a happy by-product, this fit works pretty well solo. Beaten some frankly mental odds in one of these.

Re-read the circumstances under which I gave the HAM fit. See where you went wrong? Fleet fits already given earlier in thread, specific small gang question addressed. Correctly I might (and do) add.

And it works like a charm, I do add. Thanks for the fit.

I'm still struggling over which HAMs to use though. I just bit the bullet (I have a fair bit of ISK, several hundred million) and decided to buy 5000 of each T2 kinetic missile.

5000 x Terror Javelin Assault Missile and
5000 x Terror Rage Assault Missile

Sorry that I kind of hijacked the thread with a small gang fit rather than a large fleet fit. For a large fleet I'd use Heavy Launchers and fit a Warfare Link.
