I see that different ships have different values for heat attenuation and there is a HeatAttenuationMed attribute when you have a look at ships in EVEMon.

I'm assuming (correct me if I'm wrong) that a high value here is a good thing as heat will dissipate quicker. But what do the different HeatAttenuation values mean?

TBH i don't know either... It may be were both really thick but yes it would be intresting to know.

I've never noticed this stat and now I, too, am curious. I'm guessing that the quiet of this thread only means that nobody really knows for certain.

Good question.

I don't know either, but I'd speculate that big numbers there are a good thing. Faster attenuation means to reduce amplitude faster. Not sure why they used the word attenuation with regards to heat. The proper word would have been dissipation. Attenuation is usually used for waveforms because it refers to amplitude.

The wording is rather strange indeed.

Anyway, a quick test with the Griffin vs Kitsune (t1 vs t2 frig) and a 150mm t2 railgun with the same number of empty highslots shows 19m 44s vs 24m 22s. So theres deffinitely a difference. Now, the heat attenuation attribute is the same, but heatattenuationmed is different.
0,63 and 0 for the second for griffin vs
0,71 and 0,25 for the kitsune.

I have no idea how that translates into the times but the difference is roughly 23,48% more time overheating on the kitsune. CBA to see what hilariously difficoult equation they have for overheating, have fun.
