Why are you not flagged when you salvage? Salvaging IS stealing. You are stealing what ever components are left in the wreck. It is just like looting a can except you are looting a wreck with a salvager. It is my belief as well as many others that ninjas should no longer be allowed to scan down missions and salvage all the wrecks without repercussion. The same goes for any other wreck. Don't you just love it when your fleet takes out a few T2 ships and some tard in a catalyst is sitting there watching and swoops in to salvage all the wrecks? Please fix this.

It's a wreck; it's space junk. Not your loot. Your loot is in the wreck.

It's like someone mining your asteroids.

salvage by nature is not directly called as stealing as it require a module and bla bla bla....

i dont believe that this would be a great solution as they would get another corp mate to rep and u aggress and so on that eventually u are gonna get ganked back by his fleet or corp mate. (imagine that happening to u in a faction ship faction fitted mission ship)

I tried to suggest that any1 when entering mission space that is non fleet/corp/alliance/blue is set to auto aggression, but that would just fail as roaches can just bring in a fleet of spider tank bs and bc and what can 1/2 ppl fleet (mostly u and an alt) doing mission can do?

So the problem imo lies in the scanning itself. I hear that ccp is going to make ship in mission space harder or even impossible to scan down (how well that gonna work depends on what ccp propose the change in mechanic), but making a ship impossible to scan down while in mission space would just simply ruin game mechanics.

The danger of this roaches fortunately havent grown into mission raiding/ mission completion looter then moving to ransom for mission completion, stealing of rat bounty. but it's a matter of time before it get into that. which is sadly is safe (non-concord action) high sec pirating

So CCP, pls respond to the issue, lets talk about it as talking have a good chance of bringing solution instead of just sitting by not doing anything about it

well in truth it's almost refreshing, what with all the weekly "buying sp" proposals that are cropping up... I haven't actually seen a ninja salvaging whine in a while

Salvaging is NOT stealing in EVE, wether you like it or not.

It is yours when you show info whose handsome mug do you see on it? Just flag them if they salvage. They have that cool feature to abandon the wreck if they don't want it. So they can do that then let someone salvage it. If they try to salvage it when it shows as yellow make that message pop up warning them. I think that would be a good addition to the game.

Because CCP has directly stated that they wanted salvaging to work this way. It's not like you're losing much ISK Post-Dominion, anyway. Stop griping about what little salvage you'd scrounge up and instead make more ISK by completing more missions or blowing up more Space Pirates.

Honestly, you may as well complain that someone stole water from your faucet when they give your home a visit.

Actually Mayor Adam West already launched an investigation into this, it's cost the tax payers $150,000 so far, might cost a million.

I'm going to gun down (not really) some random motorists on my way to work tomorrow and when the police show up while I take their CD collection and salvage whatever parts I can from the engine, I'm going to explain to them that since I gunned them down fair and square, the stuff belongs to me.

For crying out loud, you're lucky people can't just freely take the loot out of the wrecks, let alone salvage them.

Like I tell everyone who brings this up, if people are coming around and salvaging the wrecks of the ships you blow up, you don't have enough people in your fleet. Quit being greedy.

Yeah and the cops are going to leave you alone even if you don't salvage the parts of the engine or pick the pockets of those you just gunned down. Great real-life example!

The flagging mechanics I wouldn't mind. At least make it more risky for the salvager to salvage in a T1 frig without weapons. As it stands salvage is a big isk income without any risks. In this part the risk vs rewards is fully screwed.

This makes no sense. Why is the loot your loot but the wreck not?
Everyone can take the loot. Everyone can salvage the wreck.
To me it would just be logical that salvaging will cause a flag, too.

CCP gave this mechanic to us to prevent that thiefs steal your loot and you can't do anything against it in hi-sec.
In low-sec you would lose sec standings or gate guns would fire at you.

Salvage has a value like loot. Therefore it should work under the same mechanics like stealing loot.

Salvaging other peoples wrecks.... This is an intended game mechanic and is in no way an exploit. People salvaging your missions npcs or the player you just blew up are doing nothing wrong. The players are salvaging what is effectively floating rubbish in space and Concord places no value on this wreckage.
Eve is a harsh place you won't always have everything go your way, its a do or die world and people do what they can to get along. If salvaging some wreckage gets them a few more ISK someone will do it, it doesn't matter who just blew it up.

Per Senior GM Ytterbium :

Players are still completely free to salvage other pilot wrecks at will ... and doing so is not considered as an exploit.

Why is stealing salvage OK? It's not. It shouldn't even be possible to move an item from your cargo-hold / hanger to another persons cargo-hold / hanger without opening a trade window. Before the salvage enters those containers it is not considered your stuff by the server code. Hence it's not stealing.

Had a chat with some designers this evening.
Ninja salvaging is intended game play. It was always intended that the wrecks are public, the loot is private.
They do not see it as a problem if others salvage your wrecks.

(These quotes are kept handy for your convenience at Ironfleet.com.)

guess what...oh yes, ANOTHER salvage thread

in EvE, you dont have a divine right to maximum profit. it is a competitive pvp game. If you want a piece of salvage you have to beat someone else to it. Which part of it do you not understand?
