So there I was at a planet checking my PI and way out in the distance I noticed a round object that I could not warp to. Curious, I warp in as close as I could and then activated autopilot straight for it. After about 12 hours, I finally reached it. It looks like a moon, but totally unusable.

I am assuming they are for decoration?

I'm confused. Are you saying you found something that looks like a moon but isn't or have you not realized that there are moons in the game? Or is it some sort of sarcasm that I don't get?

Moons aren't useless in the game but they can't be used for PI. All moons in EVE are dead rocks like earths moon for reasons only CCP knows about.

My bad, I thought you could actually warp to a moon like you do a planet. It seems like that isn't the case. In any case, the planet will have a circle in the middle of it that you can select, but the moons don't.

I figured that since you cannot select it and warp directly to it (not using the right-click nav menu) that it must have been something special.

Please disregard.

EDIT: Oops, re-reading your post I think I misinterpreted you there.

You can warp to them in the same way as you do planets (clicking on the circle or via your overview) if you have the moons ticked to show up in your overview.

The easiest way to warp to a moon is to select it from the right click menu. They are shown as a sub menu under each planet.

Not true, although the majority are.

As far as I know, there is no way to get the brackets for moons to show on the main view; even if you have moons on your overview. Therefore, OP's confusion is understandable.

To the OP: you can build Player-Owned Starbases (more commonly known as a POS) close to the moons.
