Unfortunately I haven't been able to reproduce this issue while I'm actually logging Wine's console output, so I can't produce error output. I'm using Wine 1.2 on Ubuntu 10.04; ATI video card (ugh!), just whatever happened to be embedded in my motherboard (double ugh!). This system wasn't built for gaming, yet runs EVE quite nicely, save for the white box cursor issue and some textures that won't load (mostly planets), although I haven't given her a full shakedown yet. I may go out and buy a mid-range nVidia card for this system just so I can play EVE better (it's primarily a work computer, but has quite beefy specs because it was built to run multiple VMs for development and testing purposes).
Anyway, here's the issue I'm encountering, but only intermittently: After configuring a PI structure, or rotating the planet in planet view mode, or really doing anything in planet view for a little bit, I suddenly become completely unable to select any structures, links, or even build any new ones (structures or links) -- the entire planet mode UI just completely dies, save for the buttons on the left ("Build", "Scan", and their sub-buttons, although despite being able to select a structure to build I can't actually build one). Leaving and re-loading planet mode doesn't fix anything; only thing that gets it functional again is to quit and then reload EVE, which is quite annoying when it happens in the middle of restarting all my extractors!
I've found
this post describing what seems like a very similar issue, however GL SL is disabled (I've done it twice, maybe thrice, via winetricks just to be certain). The only other post I can find that's similar is
this one, which actually might be the same issue, but it's a month old with no responses.
I'll try to capture and post console output when it next happens again, but in the meantime I'm just asking if anyone else has seen this behavior, and if so know how to approach fixing it?
