Decided to reactivate my Eve account today. Been away a few months. I'm on a new computer since I last played. This is a quad core gaming machine. I have dozens of games, Crysis, several MMOs, etc. They all run rock solid, and have for months.

- Ran Eve today and my nvidia driver kept crashing randomly. Sometimes 3 times in 3 minutes. Sometimes once an hour. Amazing that EVE is the only game that ever did this. Reluctantly I updated my driver to the latest version.

- Running the latest nvidia drivers Eve was running "choppy". FPS would be fine but every 5 seconds the screen would kind of freeze for half a second. Eventually I found that if there was no mouse movement in the eve window, there was no choppiness. Watching graphics on autopilot it ran perfectly. Somehow moving my mouse was messing up my graphics. Great.

- Started messing around with the graphic settings. Turning things on and off trying to see if it would improve the situation. Eventually I noticed the part where you can select which video card EVE is using. I clicked it and it said I had two nvidia gts 250s.. when I only have one... so I decided to switch it to the 2nd card and see what that did.

- EVE crashed to desktop and will not load again, not even in 'safe mode'.

.....wtf ccp? THIS IS JUST WHAT I WANTED TO DO ON MY DAY OFF TODAY - BIG THANKS. After all these years you still have these kinds of problems??? can I get my $15 bucks back or what???

Sigh.... Why is there no troubleshooting forum? anyone else heard of problems like this?

It's obviously entirely CCP's fault that you have problems whilst everyone else are doing just fine, could never ever be a problem on your end.

Hmm, did you happen to have updated your video drivers recently? I'm not much of a pro in these things but it sounds like you might have installed it without completely removing / uninstalling the previous one first.

delete your cache folder then restart eve all the settings will return to default

when u updated your nvidia drivers did u also update directx? the latest drivers tend to work better with updated directx (for me in counterstrike source update.... updating directx after i updated my nvidia drivers meant my fps went from 35 -50fps to 120-140fps average).

if u have 2 monitors eve client will list each as a seperate card. (mine say i have 3 cards but i only have 2 cards but 3 monitors).

That's display adapters, not graphics cards - I get 2 listed as I have 2 monitors.

I have an NVIDIA GTS 240 running under Windows 7 64-bit - not same card I know but from the same family and never had any problems and I'm usually running 2 clients at once. Sounds like you just got unlucky somehow.
