I might be asking for much but I thought it lacked some of the suspense the other two had.

That and these predators lacked the warrior code of their predecessors, cutting people down while unarmed and unprepared like cowards. Then again them running around cloaked I guess they were always that.

As a pure action flick it was good, in the pantheon of Pred movies, its not that great, but it is worth watching to help expunge the memories of the abominations that are the AVP series of movies.

This tbh. Some of the predator actions - setting traps, shooting people without guns etc - was out of character compared to predators in the other movies, who went out of their way to not kill unarmed/pregnant/unworthy individuals.
These predators seemed to be in it for the kill, rather than the hunt.

And wasn't Lawrence Fishburne in it for a really short time?

This shouldn't be confusing to those who saw the movie.

***SPOILERS***

The Predators are fighting each other as well, as there are two factions of Predator. One that they save from the other group is quite honorable, helping them get to the ship (he also seems to have been captured hunting solo, like Preds normally do). This other new faction of Predators have no such ideas of honor, hence they hunt in groups, with 'dogs', and with traps. This should explain the source of the Pred's conflict.

It was a good action movie if it was not in the Predator series, otherwise it was a meh remake of the first one, lacking subtlety, story, and essentially the predator feel of the series.

Was awfull. and Great. (Massive Spoilers).

The bad.

The 2 types of predator that for no reason hated each other made no sense. Sure introduce a new predator but why on earth are they killing other predators?
If you do this give a half reasonable explination. There was some nonsense about a blood feud or such but that came from the storys mad man and the backstory gave nothing to back it up. Lawrence fishborn was so cheesey not to mention un-needed. His Armor that convieniently allowed him to cloak got lost as well as his uber future rifle?

The predator hunting dogs looked bad and made no sense the claims that they had them flush them out seemed stupid as they had just been walking in a forest. Not to mention when was the last time that predators needed hunting dogs to find some one? They managed to find these people and abduct them well they was scattered around the earth with billions of other people! And on that subject how on earth did they know a doctor was a killer? they been foolowing him on his rounds at the hospital for a few years? And managed to pick up on his abuse of medicine where other doctors did not?

Isabella the sniper. First off its important to establish that when you meet her she knows about the events of the original film as is revealed later.
This being said she is without a doubt the worst sniper ever in film history. She has a prio-knowlege of how to avoid being detected by the predators.
She has a weapon that can hurt and (probably if she could aim kill a predator). Yet throughout the enitre film she sits in the open and most often during the combat is sat still lining up shots in plain sight. (She also runs out of ammo half way through then some how gets more that fits her sniper rifle perfectly. But hey i can strech to beleiving that when they get more ammo that rifles caliber is there). The Doctor also at the start of the film find a neuro toxin that he later says is all over the place and totaly forgets that could be used on the predators? (even when he has one staring him down he saves it for obvious more important needs).

Finaly ALL THE PREDATORS IN THE FILM GET KILLED. And 3 of them by humans.

The Good.

The trap set using the dead guy and the predators luring them in with his voice is very nice and would be what a half smart human hunter would do.

Ironicaly even though the film claims the hunting dogs are used to flush the group out. Infact after this the predators take advantage of some random alien that they have lure them out of a trap they had set for a predator. This is infact flushing them out from their fortification and works real well as a predator tactic. The new predators do look cool. Shame they make little sense. Would of been awesome as just a diffrent cast that worked with the established preadtors. The new predators have some awsome head gear to.
The trophy kill is awsome and excellent and awesome. The play on hiding heat like with the mud is reasonable and a nice nod to the original.

Over all
I would say that this film copys the first predator to close and infact if you look at it in 10 years i think people will say that the director added nothing meaningfull to the franchise. The core story is exaclty the same. And i would say that the truth is the director as tried to take Predator and make it his using fairly bad story alterations and gimmicky add ins.

ALL THIS BEING SAID. Do go see it. Atleast if they keep making more one has to eventually be good.

The sword fight was cool but i felt it was kind of out of place. A little like the doctor who kills. They just did not feel liek the type of prey predators would put in a Jungle to hunt. The original predator alone went after a team of special forces. In the equivilant of their back yard. New film just feels uncomfy as a predator movie. But like i said. its got its moments. And worth the cash.

***SPOILERS***

Personally I thought the film was a bit...meh. I didn't find myself caring about whether they lived or died. Having Lawrence Fishbourne's character was a nice addition but he was there for such a short amount of time it didn't add enough, the fact that he tried to kill them makes sense but not the way he did it. If he had survived there for 10 seasons surely he would have thought about the amount of noise that the humans would have made while he was smoking them out.

As for the Doctor, I thought he was chosen because he was good at what he did and was there to try and keep the rest of them alive as this would have made the hunt more interesting for the Predators. Apparently he was also crazy, that bit I didn't guess until it was revealed. It was noticeable that he kept the poison from the beginning but that was soon forgotten.

Overall not worth the 7.15 the ticket cost, luckily I won't go to the cinema unless it is with Orange Wednesdays (two tickets for the price of one for the people who aren't familiar).

Just out of curiosity, for the sun not to move around the planet the planet would have to be orbiting the sun (as normal) but not to rotate. So does that mean the the whole 'planet' was constructed by the Predators for this purpose? Can someone verify or add more ideas to this?

The sun on the planet clearly does move because the film does evetually fall into night.
The stated Sun notmining would mean a planet of giant proportions or a slow rotation.

These predators are the rich snobbish kind like the people that hunt sedated rhinos in stocked safaris Razz

The comment that the sun wasn't moving was from a regular joe, not bloody Hawking, he just noted that the sun wasn't moving at normal speed, that doesn't mean it wasn't moving at all.

Actually from a combatant with guerrilla warfare in his blood... trust me, he wasn't a regular joe. You notice these kinds of things in a combat zone.
