(I believe this is the right place to post this)

Hello!

With 36 hours (game time) to the start of Hulkageddon III, I would like to announce the First Annual Odatrik Ore-A-Thon, which will run throughout the entire Hulkageddon III event.

I've already mentioned the details of our event in previous posts, plus we have a guildportal page set up at http://odatrik.guildportal.com/ explaining what it is all about Please forgive me if it looks cheesy, I am not very good with computers. Even Powerpoint can be taxing.

In closing, I hope Helicity Boson and the organizers and participants of Hulkageddon III have a successful event. To everyone else, no matter what you plan to do for the next 10 days, please have fun, keep a cool head, and show respect for your fellow players.

Pehk

(edited ....got number of hours wrong)

While I'm all for setting attainable goals, I have to ask, isn't 20 million a little low?

Well, we will just have to wait an see I guess!

When does this start?

Well, considering the following factors:

1) We are a small corporation, a handful of new players. We just have one retriever and two mammoths.

2) As mentioned on the site, we will not risk those above assets because they will be targeted. We will fly only those things that we can afford to lose, which are probes and bursts and wreathes we mostly manufactured or bought at a discount. Each probe has a capacity to carry 600 cubic metres of ore when maxxed out on expanded cargohold I.

20 milion is a hard target to hit. I have put in a provision to target as high as 60 million but because of the nature of Hulkageddon and the frigates we are going to use, I will consider it a win if we hit the bronze target which is 20 million ISK.

We also won't do fleet mining as we have done in the past. It will more like guerilla-style mining, you go in, mine and get out. When you have done your quota, youi call for the hauler.

Ore-A-Thon runs the same dates as Hulkageddon.

But how do we know when to show up to participate in the event? Surely you alone can't mine 23/7 for 10 days?

I think there's some misunderstanding.

The Odatrik Ore-A-Thon is being held by members of ODATRIK Mining Corporation alone. It's not like a great big mining festival of all miners in one spot (Minestock? Orefest? Veld-Aid?). Our corporation made a challenge to sell between 20 and 60 million ISK of ore mined during Hulkageddon III.

It's just as well we are not having something like that. We'd be wiped off the map in one shot.

Now, that does not mean you cannot hold your own "Ore-a-thon". In fact, if you want (and I am making this offer to all mining corps and individuals), we'll post your total ore sold on our website in addition to our own total.

(edited for hideous spelling mistake that will not be revealed, ever!)

Ah, I see. But if this event is for your corp only, what was the point of advertising the event in Events & Gatherings?

We found that some of the events being advertised, including oddly enough, Hulkageddon, were being transferred to this forum group. Rather than make work for the administrators, I followed suit, and posted here.

Sorry for the confusion. Ehnea's suggestion is a good one, however. I suggest any miners out there to try holding their own orefest and let us know what you sold. We'll post it on our site.

the technique of ninja mining may be of use to you. You pick a spot in the system [near a random moon is good] and anchor a permanent can. You pop to the can when your hold gets full, and when the can has 3k m3 of ore you call in the hauler. Being amarr, I flew a bestower when young that tricked out was 20K m3 of cargo, enough for several cans of ore. You can also run to the bookmarked can if someone suspicious comes into the system.

However, if your corp has a player owned station handy, you can park an orca and pilot in the POS to provide mining bonus, and do the above mentioned ninja mining technique.

Thank you, Aruvqan. That is actually a great idea. I appreciate you sharing it with me (and perhaps some miners who are reading this thread) Smile

I mean, why bother advertising the event if you don't want more people to attend?

Hello Julius

I explained very clearly why this was placed in the Events Forum. If I placed this anywhere else, such as General Discussion, it would have been moved to the Events forum, as technically, it is a corporation event with a set goal to reach.

Ehnea suggested we should post the ore sales of other individuals and corporations on our web site as part of the Ore-A-Thon. This is actually the best way to do it because it saves us the headache of splitting up the sales with any participants who would have joined us.

I will repeat that offer to you and everyone else: if you want to report your ore sales to us, we will post the amount and the name of the corporation/individual on the site.

I don't think you could ever have on EVE what you are proposing, with Hulkageddon happening. The more people you have, the more the pie is sliced up. And how the pie is sliced up would leave to fights and stuff. Is it equal sharing or not? How do you get haulers and how do you proof it so that haulers are not ripping you off? What happens if someone loses their prize exhumer or barge? Does Pehk get blamed forit because its his event?

Been checking out Wikipedia's article of corporation espionage in EVE. It's savage stuff. If we advertised a Minestock, no question some pirate would put in a spy posing as a carebear, feeding his friends what was going to happen. Then it would be like shooting fish in a barrel and Helicity's killboard numbers would spin forever.

I am happy to announce we have hit our bronze objective. Using probes and bursts to mine and wreathes to haul, our collective sales have exceeded 20 million ISK since the start of Hulkageddon.

Even better, no ships have been lost and none of our capsulers have been podded.

Our next step is to attempt to reach the silver goal of 40 million ISK by the end of Hulkageddon.

Thanks Cozmik, I appreciate you saying that. I'll admit it was more complex to organize than I thought, but it was good fun.
