On the road to Jericho, a revolutionary once said love your neighbour as yourself, sound the horn for freedom: With every engagement the Star Fraction spreads hope, the nuclei of revolt within the Caldari and Amarr Empires against the details of Caldari-Amarr oppression. The system will be overthrown and mankind will be free. We have been lied to by those who would possess our inheritance, our Transhumanist history, this we mustnít allow. We, are the lucky few, not only to have reached escape velocity - leaving behind that ancient gravity well, that all pervasive orthogenesis - but we embrace the coming saltation and would have it as a common treasury for all.

Plug in wake up, make contact, find the free captains, die and be reborn in the clone vats of the free.

Eve online is a big place and pretty daunting for the new player taking their first steps in the dark and dangerous territories of the new frontier. Political polemic, deadly manipulations, treachery and character assassination are rife, people play internet spaceships very seriously and perhaps itís no surprise that the single-server environment has made legends of despised villains as often as its lauded community accomplishment and high minded idealism. Still thatís Eve end of the day, itís a special game and in the brutal melee of rhetorical flourish and Machiavellian invective youíll find some gemstones too.

In my time in Eve playing the ubiquitous anarcho-terrorist made first CSM chair Jade Constantine, Iíve found the community around the game to be capable of great feats of creativity and long term dedication that sometimes takes the breath away with the scope of endeavour and almost fanatical devotion to this game universe. Hell, it was precisely this creativity that sucked me into the game in the first place when a friend showed me the Taggart Transdimensional (TTI) site back in the first weeks of retail and I was astonished by the depth of the thing.

There is a wealth of player made content provided to this game universe; some great forums for general discussion and politics and rumours and interactions. There are great resource-sites for roleplaying, for developing the game background and for promoting and supporting any of the specific career choices the posthuman capsuleer can undertake in the New Eden Cluster. In short, thereís flourishing community out there to support a game thatís more than seven years old in retail and still going strong.

So be armed, learn to gather the information you need to prosper in New Eden, take the advice of wise pilots and prepare yourself against the risks and dangers to come. Deprogram your statist brainwashing and prepare you for heights of revolutionary zeal!

Once upon a time in the cluster, there was a group of people that call themselves freecaptains. These people were fighting for freedom and space for everyone, where there are no bad people to tell others what they can and can not do.

The freecaptains are now recruiting, they are looking for more likeminded people, revolutionary thinkers, idealists. So the story can continue, so the fight can be brought to their enemies' doorsteps.

The story is Star Fraction, the freecaptains are the people in it, and our enemies, well.. they will be our enemies.

Way back at the beginning of the game Jericho Fraction was involved with an alliance in the north called the Venal Alliance. We tried to encourage free-space thinking and open commerce but war overtook us all and we ended up feuding with Taggart Transdimensional Corporation and having a civil war. Our side won the civil war and founded a new alliance called the NVA (new venal alliance) Ė for a time it was a functioning free-space alliance but was ultimately betrayed by some of its own, and by the intrigues of certain corporations (Oberon, RONA, CDI, Occassius Republica and others). The betrayers destroyed the dream of the NVA and formed a new closed space alliance called the Phoenix Alliance under Halseth Durn.

Jericho Fraction was exiled and served a time in the wilderness of Empire politics but eventually returned to the north stronger and more dynamic hoping for a peace of honour and return to open space policy (but fully prepared for war). PA proved every bit as venal as it had in times before and betrayed our allies in Reikoku Corporation thus setting the stage for the Great Northern War.

Jericho was instrumental in forging a broad anti Phoenix Alliance consensus that we called NCA (Northern Coalition of Allies) and in 5 months the PA was pretty much ruined and destroyed. All of the target corporations we named in the war-declaration were exiled from the North (RONA, CDI, Oberon) and the remaining PA lived the life of guerrilla fighters amongst the lonely stars.

The victory was not as complete as it could have been however. Some of our allies had left NCA when the work was perceived to have been done and went on to form Band of Brothers as a pvp-centric alliance of allies. Quickly BoB became embroiled in hostilities with other NCA era (and NCA successor) interests and Jericho saw her allies fighting and feuding in the dust of the Phoenix Alliance.

Obviously this all gave time for the PA to recover a bit, and under Cochiseís (20th Legion CEO) leadership they pulled up their socks and reformed a meaningful government and played diplomacy well to ultimately dominate the consensus of the post GNW north. At no stage did this incarnation of the PA actually pose a thread to the Band of Brother corps, but with BoB engaged against other former allies (such as the NSA (Northern Stars Alliance) and daily losing ground in diplomatic backscratching it seemed that what the NCA and BoB had won in firepower and conflict was lost in cold-war and influence-peddling.

There is an ancient myth, of an old engineer who creates a clockwork simulacrum, a marionette. He is childless and in his few idle moments he makes believe that it's the son he longs to have. In the dream his marionette son is sentient, but acutely, self-conscientiously aware of his artifice. The marionette is persuaded by his experience of the world that to become real he must change. This change involves imitation of those 'real' people he see all about him. However, the journey of pretense is difficult because it leads him further away from true inclination, but in time he learns to overcome these feelings even to forget them in hard work study and of course imitation.

At the end, the old engineer whose fantasy this is, wakes from the revery blinking only to realize that he was in fact dreaming of his own life which is sadly about to end, and in a terrible moment of self-knowledge and shame he sees the terrible irony, that he abandoned at its start the joys of real life and love for cold peas porridge.

A problem that we of the Star Fraction address on your behalf 'citizen': the received wisdom is that individuals needs to be controlled. However, in small communities control tends towards compromise, give-a-little get-a-little, whereas in large complex societies there's a more draconian approach. Largely because the former, to ensure the continuing survival of the community, to be self sufficient to preserve their more or less permanent social relations upon which the community depends compromise is preferred. In the latter there isn't the same incentive to preserve future relationships - the social relations of production are alienated, the administration of justice rigid to prevent abuse and to promote the repression it is thought that civilization requires. Large civil societies subjugate human instincts, the larger the society the higher the required repression; this is only to look at problems between citizens. However, when looking at the threat to these larger societies from say organized internal resistance to the repression of individual liberty, then the problem becomes a whole load more extreme. The state begins to dominate that interpersonal space to an such extent that there is a mortal threat to the very instinctual foundation it was designed to control.

Combat experience, a fragment of a Star Fraction Pilot.

'Yskari'-, 'Yes?' She replied immediately over the communications channel.

'What's your current position?', the voice of the fleet commander coming over the static on the channel.

'Floating next to the Dital Stargate' Yskari said, continueing before the commander could ask:'No visuals, and one Hostile in system, Directional Scanner showing nothing yet'.

'Affirmative, stay there, keep the intel coming'. The communication channels clicked once and went back to static.

The fleet was a system or two out from Yskari's position, she knew it and had to rely on her own wits, and the freecaptain circling along with her around the Stargate's structure.

Looking over the interface of her ship, the Directional Scan showed something coming in, a battleship sized vessel. Yskari made a decision and picked up the comms channel:'Incoming Scorpion class battleship, to Dital Stargate in Esescama system'

'Affirmative, fire at will. Everyone best speed Dital Stargate in Esescama and jump in', the commander's voice shouted over the channel.

Yskari and her fellow freecaptain, Sabadagus who was flying the interceptor of Gallentean design, a Taranis, and she in her Minmatar interceptor stiletto activated the Stargate as the Scorpion belonging to the EWOKS pilot did the same.

The static on the channels cleared, and the interface picked up signals again, Yskari approached the stargate as soon as control was handed back to her. It was only then that she noticed the System's channel.

'Abort Abort, noone activate the gate to Dital!' Yskari shouted over the comms:'There's more then twenty hostile pilots in the system, Do not engage target, Do not engage target'.
Sabadagus who jumped in along with her, reapproached the Stargate as well, and waited out the time until the computers would allow the jump back out of Dital. Yskari did the same, ignoring all the opportunities that the EWOKS Scorpion class battleship provided to her to engage the weapon systems.
She knew better, it was obvious that the enemy had laid a trap, with numbers far beyond what the freecaptains had available.

'Retreating back into Esescama system', Sabadagus and Yskari's voices mingling over the comms channel as the static had cleared from their stargate activation back into relative safety.

Yskari sat silent for a few moments, recollecting what had just happened, and how things had ended without losses on her own side, how silly Sabadagus and herself had looked if they had engaged the battleship sized vessel, in their frigates. They had posed no threat, their backup had been far away.

'No, it was a good thing we noticed the enemy before engaging' She thought to herself, and steered her Stiletto-class interceptor back home.
'I'm perhaps not the most important gear within the clockwork, I am not the best pilot nor a tactician, but there are times where my efforts save my fellow freecaptains, by providing intel and preventing hostiles from escaping our fleets'.

Yskari grinned, chuckling at her own adrenaline rush from moments before:'And this, this is why working together is great, everyone has a task, however large or small, but all equally important to help keep the clockwork running smoothly'.

Star Fraction has a history empowering the little guy, the new pilot, before he becomes new meat for the large imperialist corporate war machines of O.O. Jericho Fraction has pioneered asymmetric warfare to exploit the characteristic weaknesses of these larger powers. Such unconventional strategies and tactics of warfare, require imagination so that "weaker" combatants can offset deficiencies in quantity or quality and bring it.

Such an induction to the black arts is required for the combat pilot in SF, if your intrigued listen to Jade speak on'Individuality and Freedom in Eve Online' in her address to Eve-Uni graduates.

Thanks Yskari, I very much enjoyed your after action report, makes me sorry I missed that one, got a tengu last night though :P.

JF is a very rare corporation for several important reasons Ė chief amongst these being the roleplay ideology and our vision of free-space and free captaincy that actually follows through into every aspect of our organisation and actions in-game.

We arenít just talking hot-air and pseudo nationalist froth here, when we talk about our rejection of territorial values and standings enclosure we mean it. Itís our roleplay and our combat ROE, our identity and our diplomatic yardstick Ė itís hard, very hard sometimes to live up to these values but itís a worthy challenge and something to be proud of.

In very real and literal terms it does make us better than those who slip into NBSI and neutral shooting for shootingís sake. It means we still have values, we still have vision, we still have the personal pride that comes from standards and ethics and the reason for existence that stems from a long-term cause beyond our own fleeting excitement and adrenal kicks.

But this stuff makes us pretty much unique in the cluster. We are a corporation that doesnít bow down to the orders of tyrants, there are no exceptions to our ROE standards Ė anyone who offers us hostility with no recourse will end up set to -10 KOS and freely targeted Ė BUT, with this bullish commitment to our own freedom and independence comes the recognition and respect for the freedom and independence of others: we are no slaves of tyrants, nor tyrants ourselves, and for a corporation of our age and wealth and capabilities that is a completely unique organisational trait.

Personally, I have a very dim view of NBSI (the ideology) I think itís a loserís admission of unimaginative mediocrity to be blunt.

I think itís a statement that the people adhering to the policy have resolved their inability to act as adults in the game world and simply fallen to a currently prevalent majority belief that ganking is god and all must fall and worship at the altar of the great Killboard spirits. Its dull, its derivitive, its following the lowing bleats of the herd without daring to think of something original.

Iíve heard tales of corporations that boot out people that donít get a certain number of kills each week and use the killboard as their organisational tool to achieve this judgement...

No wonder that the poor combat pilots cry for NBSI engagement rules since it allows the weak and uncreative combatant to ensure their quota is filled on hapless novices and unprepared 0.0 tourists. Talk about turning space-operatic suspension of disbelief into the mindless drudgery of the call-centre - don't we play games to get away from that rubbish?

NBSI is as weak as it gets, symbolising nothing more than a bankrupt corporate ideology that has taken the easy route to finding weaker opponents to stave off the knowledge of its own weakness and lack of ambition.

Do something different.
Stand up.
Dare to Dream.

Take a look at yourself, dear reader, just for a moment. That vessel you are flying, which can bend the rigid laws of physics to your will as a matter of due course, turn on a pinhead or plough through all that stand before it, that can slither silently amongst your enemies arrayed in their own mighty fleets unseen and undetected or simply hold firm against their savage assaults and endure, that can move a city and its people from planet to the next or simply level it in a single volley...

...why are flying it?

...what purpose does it serve?

...what purpose do YOU serve, if any?

You call yourself a Capsuleer, the very pinnacle of Mankind, a meta-human with the capacity to acquire unlimted knowledge and with it unlimted power. But do you know why do this? For what cause, for what reason will you weild this power and shape this cluster we call home? If you do not have an answer to this question, then you cannot call yourself a Capsuleer, for you are a slave.

A slave to the status quo!

A slave to those who tell you that you cannot become a force in your own right unless you do EXACTLY WHAT THEY TELL YOU TO DO.

And a slave to your own limited vision that cannot see beyond the wallet in your left hand and the trigger of your guns in the right!

You have acquired so many skill points, dear reader, but you have learned so very little. But the Star Fraction can transform you; you can become a Free Captain, and you can fight for a reason, a belief, a Cause.

We reason that senseless violence solves no more problems than it creates: We fly NRDS.

We believe that we are all much, much greater than the sum of our skill points and kill statistics: We work together as a single identity to achieve our goals.

And our Cause most certainly requires it! We fight to tear down the hegemony of the so-called "Power-bloc", to make all Capsuleers free to pursue thier own goals without enforced defference to others, and to make the hordes of slavering Pig-Dogs explode in a satisfyingly dramatic fashion!

It's happening right now, right HERE.

As capsuleer I'm sure you often wonder, why is it that we have become immortal. Why is it that we have taken a liking to the stars and our ships over the safe green havens that terrestial planets form to mankind.

These questions might be rather existantialistic and odd. Perhaps these questions might feel like a look over the shoulder, glancing back into the past.

Are we taking the chains of the empires, the imperialists, to the stars, chaining them down? Or are we taking up our freedom, to go and do as we please?

These questions all matter little, as anyone can make the decision to throw off their chains, their slavecollars to regressive imperialistic societies they belong to. And turn to face their freedom and are willing to fight for exactly that, freespace.

The Jericho fraction, as part of Star Fraction has been taking this fight to the enemies of freespace for years now. We fight for freedom, our freedom allows us to choose whether we fight or not, where we fight, and who we fight.

Star Fraction, Jericho Fraction, is recruiting capsuleers. Whether you have just begun your career as one, or you are a veteran, hardened by battle and war but now decided on the right thing to do.

Our war is not a campaign of road-blockers and petty robber barons, itís not a war of control towers and sovereignty, itís not scored on cyno-jammers and bridges, it has nothing to do with control and domination.

Our war is the war of ideas and bright allure of hope and brightling dreams. Our victories are counted every day we do not slip to the morass of mediocrity and submissive adherence to blind NBSI and clockwork territorialism

Our truest victory is in perseverance and keeping the beacon of hope alive. We have fought across the length and breadth of the New Eden Star Cluster and strived with every breath to grasp freedom and independence across the tapestry of stars.

So you ask "where are the heroes of this revolution" and I say to you. Look no further than your own names and dreams ahead. Every free-captain, every independent, every pilot who refuses to bow and sc**** and kiss the boots of hierarchy.

These are our heroes. These are our victories and this war will be won in a million flashpoints in personal choice and idealism across the face of stars without number.

The Freespace movement is yours.
It always has been.
It always will be.

Before I discovered the Star Fraction I already subscribed to many of their positions, perhaps I felt that there wasn't going to be the opportunity to express these attitudes, or that they were antithetical to eve itself, but like many pilots I already thought of myself as a free captain. I was delighted when I discovered that this was not strange, nor even uncommon. I didn't have to subordinate myself to the fraction's position, indeed the free space movement is the only political philosophy in Eve expressive enough to really allow me, and perhaps you, to be, and to be recognised to be, who I already am.

If your tired of being treated as number, as +700dps, try Eve on hard mode Ė log on and be who you are, plot your own course.

And that is because the space between each of us is filled with the ideas and dreams that will either make you or break you.

The Star Fraction nurtures the most dangerous and unstable of these; Freedom. To embrace it is to be scorched by its ferocity and wildness, for true Freedom cannot be contained, restrained nor couched in "ifs" and "buts". It will not compromise with you, and whether you choose to accept this or not you will be burned by its purity of purpose either way. Annd once you have accepted it, you can never go back. Hi guys. Even if your unsure of the Rp aspect of SF come along to our public channel and have a chat to use. I myself was unsure when i first joined but i would never look back. with SF there is none off this boring gate camping sitting there wiating for hours on end for nothing to happen or just to kill a ship or 2. none off this constant CTA for hours on end with nothing happening. or being called up to do a POS def or attak at silly times in the morning or night. we play the game to suit our players RL comes first and that is what i love. there is also never realy a shortage of WT to find and kill as we try to keep the wardecs up on corps/aliance that we feel incrouch on the freedoms off fellow freespace men and woman.
