Cerebral accelerators are military-grade implants that significantly increase a new pilot's skill development. This technology is usually available only to naval officers, but CONCORD has authorized the release of a small number to particularly promising freelance capsuleers.

This implant primes the brain's neural pathways and hippocampus, making it much more receptive to intensive remapping. This allows new capsuleers to more rapidly absorb information of all kinds, and as a bonus also enhanced spatial processing abilities that are critical for weapons handling.

The only drawback to this implant is that capsuleer training renders it ineffective after a while; as such, it will cease to function for pilots who have been registered for more than 35 days.

Bonuses: +3 to all attributes; +20% Damage to Laser, Projectile and Hybrid weaponry; +20% Rate of Fire to Missile weaponry.

It looks to me like an in-game rational for the accelerated training newbies receive. Probably simplifies the code base to do it with an implant rather than the custom code it must use now.

FYP.

On topic, yeah, it just looks like an in game explanation for the faster skill training, although the ROF and damage bonuses are kinda Confused

would mean that the bonus last 35 day for a newly created PC and not until your each the XP threshold.

Better for a veteran that can give high level implants to a new character, worse for a true newbie.

It will probably be part of the next boxed set or some other marketing program. Start now with a boost!

This is pure genious. We all know how the current learning curve looks like: it's a steep cliff and you start at the bottom.

With the bonus to damage for turrets and ROF for missiles lasting for 35 days, the learning curve will look more like a half-pipe. Laughing

More dumbing down the game, jeez.
Also, I can already hear the whining when they suddenly can't hit for their 'full' damage anymore.

Interestingly it occupies a booster slot, not an implant slot. So you can combine it with a full set of Attribute Enhancing Implants.

No, but really, I'm quite against this, should it become used. But I don't think it is.

the learning curve isn't about skills, it's about understanding even and this would actually only make it more complicated (not by a lot, just saying it's the opposite of helping the learning curve).
