So... I know there's a formula for what a skill rank increase costs, but I can't remember what it is, and as usual the search function is useless.

Something like (x-multiplier)*(some number)^(skill level), right?

Or if someone knows the costs of level 1-5 for a x1 skill offhand, I guess i could figure out the rest from there.

Number of skillpoints required to complete a level equals:

(2 ^ ( 2.5 * ( LEVEL - 1 ) ) * 250 * RANK ) ... Rounded to the next highest integer.

While trained to the level below your next level, EVE displays the next level's skill points without the ROUNDUP function taken into account, but once trained, the skill always has that extra point (with certain levels) shown. (eg. Rank 1, level 2 shows as 1,414 when you have less than level 2 trained, but when complete, it was actually 1,415 skill points you ended up needing.)

Interesting, I'm wondering is this could be the reason for the "Skill Completion Imminent" message us oldschool skillcampers used to see all the time when waiting the last few seconds for a skill to finish before starting the next.

I mean, if the game calculates after the time it will take to train to 1414 sp, but in reality you need 1415 that would account for at least a second or so.

Thank you, that's exactly what I was looking for. I can finally do skill calculations in my head again so I don't have to run everything through EveMon. Sweet.

EDIT: I don't actually have fractional powers of 2 memorized, I just mentally converted it to approximately 6^(n-1)*250*rank.
