Look at adoption rates.

XP is dying and should have died years ago.

DX11 + DX10 > DX9

And that trend will only grow.

Did the entire fallbcak path thing go over your I.Q.?

More fail you want to post?

Mr Obvious! Of course xp is only going to continue dying, even microsoft is stopping corporate support for it soon.
Of course dx11+10 are going to continue to gain popularity.
Any 5 year old can point these out, he learned this with his Pokemon games. Nobody plays Pokemon Red anymore, because the newer, better is out.

My point is, player support is at 5% right now. There are other things in the game that effect 100% of the eve population that still need fixing. I would prefer CCP work on fixing the things that apply to the ENTIRE POPULATION OF EVE before they worry about hardware tesselation for 5% of its users.

If you're developing a brand new game, defiantly use dx11. But as another posted stated in here, eve isn't even making full use of the dx9 spec, what the **** is the point of switching to dx11 when ONLY 5% WILL BENIFIT

Yes, it may be easier for programmers, as you mentioned its been COMPLETELY OVERHAULED to make it MUCH EASIER. Even though its EASIER, its still DIFFERENT, wich requires TIME to train and adapt to the new spec. Should CCP developers take a few weeks off and learn dx11, then spend the next 2 or 3 months rewriting the graphics engine just to support FIVE PERCENT OF THE EVE POPULATION?

You fail utterly...no wonder you want to buy SP.
It's not just for the +5% on DX11, the fallbcak path ALSO include these optimizations when ever possible.

And that you think all programmer needs to take week of to learn more esay and better way to program just shows your igorance.

Read again, UNDERSTAND...think...then post.

I just have to ask, are you a sock-sniffer?. You know the kind of guy who comes home from a long day of work, his feet have been sweating all day, his socks are ripe with the pungent aroma of stale milk and wet leather, and after he finally sits down and takes his socks off, but just before he throws them in the hamper, he takes a quick sniff to sample his odors.

Actually I am at work (work for an ISP as a network technician) and a avid gamer...hence I read up on technologies that affect my gameplay, so I don't post FUD on forums, looking like a clueless tool.
I don't sniff my socks, I have a girlfriend and a 7 year old daughter.

Well, First off, I never wanted to buy SP, i've been speaking out against it from day one (infact i think i may have been the cause of all the speculation when i pointed out in a thread "what kind of system is ccp introducing that would allow them to give sp out?") This alone proves you don't think or read before YOU post. Before you flame on about how i'm some random kid and you don't follow my posts, well, you knew enough about me to think i supported buying sp.... you obviously fail utterly at English language comprehension.

Second, you clearly have never worked in the IT industry. When new software comes out, companies they send their employees for training. Sure, Windows7 is a cakewalk and any idiot with half a brain can figure it out. But that doesn't stop professionals from seeking their certificates. You claim you work for an ISP, however any ISP willing to hire someone who is not formally trained is just fail. Maybe they have you working at Help Desk? lol!

Cisco IOS ridiculously easy. ipv6 can be learnt by kid in grade 6. Its not hard to memorize the colors of each pin in a rj45 jack, but companies still PAY for their employees to have their CCNP/CCNA/etc certificates up to date.

If you want a job as a windows sysadmin, expect to spend months taking classes that go over the same boring **** you already know. They don't do it because they don't know it, they do it because that's how the whole industry functions.

If CCP decides to move to dx11, i hope they would have the sense to get at least some of their employees formally trained in it first. and yes, courses like these are usualy a week or two long.

In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king.

I'm sure you network expertise and many years as a gamer combined with you google and wikipedia searching skills makes you an expert on the eve client code base and upgrading dx.

The difference between you and the rest of us, is the you get off trying to impress others with you trivial knowledge of the technology used to run 3D games. When in reality you know as little as everyone else about how easy or difficult it would be to switch the dx version.

By all means keep on telling people they should use 15 min on wikipedia, like you did, and they will also be experts on this matter. As for you not post FUD on forums, looking like a clueless tool... how well is that going?

Now you are just grasping for straws, trying to cover up your ignorance about DirectX.
This is my workspace:

In my experince, people falsely claiming that other people are simple phone-jockeys..are that themselfes.

That you don't understand DirectX and my work is way above CCNA, CCIE ect. (and thus I don't waste my time on certs, when my CV tells a better story) has what do to with anything else other than serving as a smokescreen for your own ignorance?!

No, not more smokescreen, i was replying to your specific accusation on that exact subject. You should apply for a job at Fox News, you do a great job at completely running all across the board and convincing yourself (along with the mindless zombies who watch) that you're right, without even thinking or reading a word anyone is saying lol.

Seriously, you sound like a very angry person. I don't think its possible to explain my dx11-upgrade point any further, and you've basicly ensured that nobody has any respect for a word you say, so im just gonna cut it off with this frienly note:

Smile more! If you appear happy and friendly instead of grumpy and angry, people may start like you! and you may not have to spend hours on an internet videogame thread trying to prove your e-peen to the fullest extend of your rage

And 45thtiger 0109, i'm sorry i shat all over your thread =( lol

I guess my "ignorance" is why I in 2002 got contacted by a GPU maker for enrollment in their beta-test program.
But if we follow your "logic", develpment of EvE should have stopped when CCP started with APEX for "Incarna"...sadly for you it didn't.

But could you link to any factual errors in what I have said?
If not I suspect one of three things:

a) You are an alt, trying to help yourself mask your own ignorance.
b) You are an frined of "Mr. Ignoratus"...trying to mask his ignorance.
c) You have a bro-crush on "Mr. Ignoratus"...trying to score some points on his account.

Microsoft is luckily pulling the plug on xp and maybe it will finally die. It was an amazing os for its time, but its old, outdated, and lacks vital features.

The os is nearly 10 years old, its time to move on.

I tend to agree that updating software to keep up with the times is a good idea, Just like jumping from xp -> vista -> 7 ( i liked vista tbh). Also they are some perdy switches you have there. YARRRR!!.

I agree on this quote and Yon89 reply.

I went from windows XP to Windows 7 64bit pro version.

Also The pro & Ultimate Versions of Window 7 runs eve online without any problems.

I know that allot of older progammes and games will not work on Windows 7 Home Version.

3D display of eve sounds silly and stupid, same for any other game that already involves 3 dimension space, all you will do is hurt your brain and eyes.

You will also burn through the touch screen monitors due to the ridiculous amount of clicking needed normally. You will pretty much **** the holy **** out of the monitor in no time which aren't meant for the abuse of a REAL input method. But I suppose emoragequits will be funnier as they punch their display instead of keyboard.

I don't think it's that easy. Creating several versions of the game to accommodate different DirectX protocols adds a lot of work, this is one of the reasons why they removed support from one of the older game versions.

Yeh, EVE its a 3D space game where you can evolve in time so it's 4D. So if we see it 3D IN 3D (!!!) would be 5D or even 4x3!! 12D!! OMG! Uber!

No matter how many D's we have this gone crazy already! Ppl always want more xxxD!

I hope someday we can have some media sh*t in 999.999.999D.

I would love to see something done with the UI to support 1920x1080 resolution on large HD TVs before any new graphics update(s).

Any one with a 40"+ HDTV that plays EVE in 1920x1080 (w/o squinting or using binoculars) might agree too.

It's true XP is now a dinosaur. I have used every version of windows and though they are always flaky to start with they work themselves out. Have been one of the lucky ones I bet. I never had a problem with vista or windows 7. But I've used them since release and made it a point to make it work for me. EVE runs well on all platforms equally well.

On the 3D dx version issue, it works great with the nvidia 3D vision setup but the effect is only fair in comparison to other 3d games like fps. and the 3D vision only works with dx 10 and 11 cards(unless someone has created a work-around which wouldn't be a suprise)

But running multiple accounts and 3D vision only working in full screen I don't bother.

And I do run a 46" sony 1080p as my main monitor but I think I sit too close for the UI font to be an issue lol.
