What is your favourite class and why?

I've just finished ME2 with all classes and OOPE seems to have nothing but trolling so lets see how this goes.

Soldier is ok but boring.
Adept is useless since I play on hardcore and all the enemies have armour/shields/barriers.
Vanguard is loads of fun but hard difficulties make it a very tough class.
Infiltrator is probably my favourite class. Difficult, but a Widow, Cloak and all the upgrades can instantly kill a harbinger.
Sentinel is probably the easiest class. Can charge around with tech armour. Abilities for all situations.
Engineer... well I just finished this one. Everyone describes it as tactical, but I ignored the boring skills like cryo blast and hacking and went for damage skills and the drone. You are weak but the drone offers enough distractions to survive. Not terribly enjoyable to play as.

So yeah, Infiltrator or Sentinel are my favourite classes.

Infiltrator here aswell, then Vanguard. Only two i've played as and enjoyed in either game tbh.

I prefer the soldier out of them all as it lets me to optimise my squads damage type and I have my choice of weapons for any situation.

My problem with bioware games:
I love them, and I love stealth classes in all games.

But stealth is a broken mechanic in those games.
It serves no real purpose aside from an occupational damage boost or aggro drop. There is no sneaking or stealth approach to missions, you're forced to either engage with your team and combat starts, or you leave them behind and sneak attack someone and suddenly you're tanking a room full of baddies while waiting for your team to come in. It's pretty stupid and bothers me.

At bare minimum, they need to add a "hey dummies, hide until I say go" type command, and even if they're not stealth classes, the team stays hidden without any advantages to being hidden otherwise.

I had the most fun with vanguard, I quite enjoyed the versatility of it.

Big question for me is which one to use for an insanity playthrough, as that's the only achievement I'm missing. At this point, I have to admit I'm really looking for the easiest way to get it done as I've done everything in the game to death and I pretty much just want it because I've never done all XBL achievements for a game. Leaning towards soldier or sentinel.

I've beaten ME2 on insanity as sentinel and infiltrator. Sentinel is easiest I think because the tech armour really is amazing. Most the other classes you have to use the extra power you get by beating the game as a tanking power (eg fortification or geth shield boost). The main problem you will have on insanity is biotics not working on enemies because armour/shields/barriers, and seems to be more enemies which are tougher.

Yeah, Sentinel is looking pretty good right about now. Infiltrator is a little too slow paced for me in the first place, and having done all the available content to death, a speed run (as much as such a thing is possible) sounds good for insanity.

on a side note a new DLC, which has been said to contain 2.5 hours of gameplay is out on the 15th of this month :)

on another sidenote, i have the sir name as the main char, so whenever they speak to him it sounds pretty awesome, alot of my friwends who tend not to play games often remark how advanced games are to say my name so perfectly in all the speech :D

free DLC or do we have to pay? Not really interested in paid DLC for 2.5 hours unless its awesome.

Paid, 560MS points (or 560 bioware points for PC). Apparently an AI experiment gone horribly wrong, the title is Overlord. Looks promising though.

Anyway, back on topic.
My favorite class so far has to be the vanguard. Charge is an amazing ability and coupled with incredible close range firepower there's very little that can stand in your way.

Paid DLC = cheap entertainment. Compare to cost of going to the movies :)

Yeah, but there seems to be a misunderstanding where the general public thinks all the DLC is free for everyone, whereas it's only free to people with a cerebus membership which came with a lot of game copies (I originally thought it was collector's edition only, but I guess regular ones came with it to? c/d?)

But they've released a couple "premium" DLC packs outside of the cerebus program. I don't have any issues with paying for DLC, but I am bothered by the misleading nature of it as that was a huge selling point for me, the allusion that all DLC would be free for me as a "cerebus member"

Personally, i bought both Dragon Age: origins and ME2. However, i only paid for two of the DLC before i went "Sod this" and grabbed copies of the remaining DLC from other sources. I never bought a single ME2 DLC, yet have them all, since i'm very against zero-day DLCs being for sale. It's just stupid.

I beat the game on the hardest difficulty as an adept. It was a bit underwhelming that half my powers didn't work.

I did find it funny though that apparently what I did was "impossible" according to some forum posts about other adapts trying to beat the game on insanity.

Anyway, I spanked the game like a redheaded stepchild and didn't lose a single crew member my first time through.

Yeah I lost legion and my most of my ships crew on first run through since I didn't rush off to save them, and Miranda was squad leader but had lost loyalty when fought with Jack.

Second run through I tried finish quick as possible without caring if I lost people, managed to lose 3 of them by not upgrading the ship and a few loyalties.

Since then I haven't lost anyone on my other 5 characters. Will be interesting playing third game and which character stick with sheperd.

I imagine the following will leave:
- DLC characters - Zheed and Kasumi.
- Samara/Morinth
- Jack... might leave. Might depend if you did her loyalty mission, or romanced.
- Thane will most likely have died from kepler syndrome.

Bioware are going to have a massive ballache trying to make it so the character can lose Liara (by not helping her in ME2) and lose entirety of your squad in ME2 but still have squadmates for the final battle.

I tend to agree that the dlc characters are likely to not return, and Zaeed can go screw himself for all I care, but I'd really like to see Kasumi stick around. She's one of the more interesting characters, despite not being as fleshed out as the originals due to the more limited conversation options.

I thought Zaheed was awesome... totally balls-out hollywood wetwork contractor for hire... something there wasn't much of in the mass effect universe and a much needed counterpart to the usual sleek, smooth and precise combatants that ran around with you.

I picked Engineer because I was expecting a droid pet of some sort. Can't say I have much love for Bioware's class designers.
