The final battle against the Sansha invaders has begun, 650 in local and massive alliance carrier spam.

It seems CCP forgot to reinforce the server sadly...

Update:

Yeah, it looks like CCP didn't reinforce the server at all, we are having 10-15 minutes of lag.

Sansha-aligned forces were already on the field with dozens of capitals, our fleet, Operation Bad Moon, looks like it is going to be wiped out - all 230 of us. Doubtful if we will inflict significant losses on them, since most people can't even load the system.

UPDATE EDIT:

The node just crashed. So gay.

I just relogged in Maut. There are only 420 pilots left in local, so we can presume some serious carnage is taking place.

UPDATE:

Less than a minute since it was 420, it is now down to 370.

UPDATE:

Now down to 310. The local count is falling like a rock.

About 20-25k players got kicked of EvE when the node dropped. Go figure.

Now down to 250 in local... local chatter is rather angry that it wasn't sufficiently reinforced...

I'd say the Sansha are going to win, simply because NPCs probably won't be affected by lag...

Wouldn't it be great if these "live events" were just a pretext to test dominion lag on tranquility? Sadly, I am skeptical CCP would intentionally do something that mean. (and by "mean" I mean "awesome")

I was on grid the whole time. I scanned the sansha supporter chimera and its small support fleet on planet 6.

I relayed intel to everyone and soon people started to warp into grid. ECHaries soon jumped in a Nyx, and all hell broke loose.

At this time, local was already above 100. Soon after Nyx showed on the field, Cry Havoc hot dropped with a few moms and capitals.

Meanwhile, local had gone up another 100 or so and grid was already filling up.

And then... A large local spike and a Pandemic Legion Fleet with moms and carriers and dreads cynoed in. After this moment grid was very hard to read, but local kept increasing steadily.

At one time there were 4 cynos on the field, and I noticed there were 2 capital blobs shooting eachother. Looks like PL was shooting a MM capital fleet.

At this time local was up to 650 and I decided to lveave because server would be going down soon.

So i warp to Adacyne gate and jump, only I stay stucked there with an Eve Uni fleet waiting to jump. About 5 minutes later the node seemed to crash And people were reporting being DCed from the game all over the region. I relogged a few minutes later and showed up in a random safe in the destination system with the eve uni guys and i docked and logged off.

Biggest cluster**** I've been in, and I experienced fleet lag, module lag, grid**** and all the stuff mentioned that happens in nullsec.

Well, it looks like Operation Bad Moon was completely wiped out. Nobody knows if we got any kills. The lag was terribad, far beyond our expectations.

Nice event CCP.

EDIT: It also looks like the hostile Nyxes were warped away using exploits...

EDIT2: All the killmails are glitched too, my death is showing 0 damage done. I don't know how common that is, but with only 600 people in local you'd think they could handle it. Kinda sad honestly.

Well seems whoever set up the trap did a very good job, both sides fell for it, and seemed it became much more then just a trap.
Still I got to thank one of the 2 big fleets (Pandemonium Legion or Morsus Mihi) for taking out my attacker, else I would have been roasted (SB are no match for a bunch of Warrior II's while webbed & scrammed)

But many of the participants got to see a glimpse of what stuff is fielded in battle in lowsec. Cheers for bringing the nullsec war to our doorstep so we could have a glimpse at it.

I lagged out when trying to warp to planet 6 and it booted me... came back online about 15 minutes later... by then i'd already seen that moros km and just jumped back out and went home :P loving the stories i'm hearing though :)

Not a positive glimpse to be honest... loads of lag and you lose your ship. How does that attract people to nullsec capital blob wars? Question

T'is a shame and i think someone dropped the ball on CCP's side.

yup... was one EPIC turn of events...

Moros went down quite early on...

on the moros KM there was:

Aeon x 6
Nyx x 5
Thanatos x 17
Archon x 12
Nidhoggur x 4
Moros x 3
Revelation x 5
Chimera x 4
Pheonix x 1
Narglfar x 1

That's 10 dreadnaughts, 11 Motherships and 37 Carriers...

another 2 thanatos and 1 archon were destroyed.

Agreed Lag was a HUGE problem last night.

do we know if a single sansha ship actually showed up?

In the legendary words of General Ackbar:

ITS A TRAP!

No sansha showed up because they weren't meant to, just a very well done trap. CCP wasn't aware of it.

Edit: On why the Node wasn't reinforced? Probably because no involved party expected such a large engangement, add to that some sides thought it was a CCP sanctioned event and though CCP would have reinforced it. As CCP wasn't aware of it, reinforcement didn't happen.

PL did not shoot MM, PL was with NC as usual.
All were shooting me and after I escaped them NC/PL started picking off other caps parties like USF had brought to the field.
NC were merely there as oppertunists. If I truly was their target they are lucky that despite flawed intel I was even there, but then I should think they would've brought more HICs.

Nevertheless, nice attempt by everyone involved and it was great fun. That was an interesting surprise and that sort of tension every once in a while does keep the fun in EVE.Smile

Edit: Oh and... yeah, good luck with those reimbursements because CCP "forgot" to RF the node.
Answer for yourself this question: Has there been even one purple word in local?
It was all was staged.

Just to set some other things straight:

The first cyno was for 2 triage carriers and my Nyx.
The second cyno was a CH cyno. Contrarily to what some say CH did not bring any caps, that cyno served to bridge a CH subcap fleet in.
The 3rd, 4th and 5th cynoes from what I could tell were PL, NC and USF jumping in.

The event itself was not real, but staged by Nation sympathizers.

agreed... it's freaking epic... and yeah... re-imbursements?!?! WTF!?!?!? you were going into a battle

also... people with 0 damage on their killmail... rest assured, that's an issue ccps looking into... it's something to do with drone damage not registering sometimes
