Originally by: Minealot Yeah, I wished they spent this development cycle working on what makes the game great already. This EVE gate thing really does not excite me one bit, if they opened up a few more API services 3rd party developers would have been able to do that anyway.
Planetary interaction is going to swallow up so much CCP development time, it's not funny. EVE is set in space, lets not forget that during development sprints.
Something that needs addressing is the bounty system, well here's a thought: It should be possible to put a bounty on anyone's head via contracts by transferring kill rights to another player that if successful are nulled, or if it's low sec/null sec I guess kill rights don't matter anyway. This would open up the mercenary side of EVE, and would be a nice feature for PvP as roaming gangs would finally be able to make a living taking care of griefers and the like.
Some UI improvements with the scanning system would be good, like being able to have multiple groups probes. So that groups can be moved together or maybe even allowing the formation to be saved, so that next time, dump probes, click a formation and they arrange themselves in space ready to scan stuff - much easier.
I'd like to see a dedicated salvager ship, and why can't hacking modules "hack" other peoples anchored cans in space? I'd love to steal things considered locked up and safe in the belts.
Something to address corporate theft would also be great, lets extend the employment history to optionally allow a CEO to leave a twitter length comment when that member leaves the corp. That way, you can leave something negative to warn other CEOs about that the character is a thief, or the best damn pilot you've ever known.
These are just a few ideas as a player and a developer I see as quick fixes, that would open up a few new aspects in this game and cheer a bunch of folks up.
Any thoughts people?
+1 and we need an access log to ship maintenance in POS'es, not fun to not find your ship when logging in and no body seen it |

Originally by: Guerrios Hi, I've got a problem and a related question:
I started the game about three weeks ago on a trial, soon after I subscribed. Even after I ran the full version update it still reads: 6.21.127381. No sign of Tyrannis whatsoever on the computer.
Dominion launches and while before I had the option to apply a patch after login (which didn't do a thing)now I only got the message that I have the wrong version... Any suggetsions before I try to update this patch again?
CCP doesn't officially release the patch until after the server is done being updated. That way if they run into any little problems, they can roll out another patch if they need to.
Be patient and it will work out.

PS, YAY, my forum picture is finally correct!
Thank you. :) |

Originally by: Seth Ruin, oringally by Avan Sercedos The Dominix lacked turret and booster locators on its model, thus turrets and thruster animations were not visible. Locators have been added to fix these problems. -- Wait, I thought you couldn't do something like that without hiring an entire team of artists working round the clock for months at a time? Because that's what CCP's been saying the past few years as their reason for not adding a turret slot to the Naglfar. Rolling Eyes
This sounds like the Dominix model already contained turrets, but that there was an "oops" that prevented them from displaying properly. The Naglfar on the other hand, would have to be remodeled to add another turret somewhere on its hull. Originally by: Captain Jebrilo the most killing me part is deepspace bookmarks deletion. who on earth could decide that they are illegal? IT'S SPACE, MAN. LARGE AND UNLIMITED. IF YOU CAN GET SOMEWHERE AND WANNA SETTLE THERE - YOU ARE FREE TO DO IT.
I believe the issue is that a bug/exploit was used to create these bookmarks, hence they are unintended. The DEV blog states that the furthest deep-space bookmark is 5,900,000,000 AU (95,000 light years) from the system's sun, which is well over 100 years at 10 AU/sec. If so, with these bookmarks you "should" be able to enter other systems without the need to use stargates, which is completely unintended. It is more than this however: Fleets of ships can be positioned 50-100 AU outside of the furthest point in a star system and can never be scanned down by probes, resulting in a 100% completely safe safe-spot. Since the scanning interface prevents you from moving probes a significant distance away from the sun, you cannot scan someone down who is far enough away from the system. Originally by: Virtuozzo Those black contrast bars provide a much needed element of redundancy which allows players with colour sensitivity or other deficiencies to compensate for the little flaws and hiccups in EVE's Usability design. Taking them out, removes that compensation mechanism. It begs the question, which is more worth it, the shortcut fix or shutting out user groups which common Usability standards take into account.
I initially didn't care about the widescreen removal, but after reading Virtuozzo's post I have to change my opinion. To me it does not seem as though removal of features is progress made, particularly when people have used these features to make the game more playable to themselves. Originally by: Chribba CCP can you PLEASE set the default EVEGate shared access to NO PILOTS!
I will most likely use EVEGate to manage calendar events and keep an eye on Corp mails, but I am forced to agree with the dozens of people expressing their desire for limited default access permissions. As with any system upgrade, whether it be a video game, word processing software, or hardware, removing features should be limited whenever possible and adding features should not affect anybody who does not wish to use those features. EVEGate's default settings should be set in such a way as to not affect anybody who does not wish to use it. In regards to insurance, I cannot log in to confirm some of this, but from my understanding players buy their insurance from DED (itself of Concord). If they then attack a player in highsec, Concord will come and kick their butts. Then DED will pay the player for losing a ship to Concord. This seems a little like the accounting office of a police department reimbursing criminals for items confiscated during a raid, or someone being able to pick up a one-time-only license to kill. I think that it's likely that current changes to be applied in this patch will partially address these issues, so I will wait and hope that fellow capsuleers are appeased. There needs to be two threads, one for actual patch discussion and one for "Where can I download" and "How long left" questions. |

Originally by: Governmentyard Edited by: Governmentyard on 26/05/2010 16:57:03 OK, I'm a noob, I have no idea what's happening now other than the patch 'will be deployed' which I assumed means that at some point after 3am today UK time when I boot my eve client it will auto update. I'm reading a lot of conflicting stuff on here and there are no links to the Tyrannis patch on the site or at least not where I'm looking, so can anyone in clear terms answer the following questions:
If I leave Eve off for a while and come back eventually (i.e. in a couple of hours or longer if needs be)will booting my client eventually cause the update to download?
If the answer to the above is probably, but in some cases probably not, will the client or website have a clear link to a manual download?
I've probably missed clear answers to these but the signal-noise is a bit off in here. Thanks to anyone who can guide me to truth :)
Enjoy the update, everyone!
/edit Re: the gender thing - I'm a bloke, but then again in real life I'm not a capsuleer either, so as far as I'm concerned when in escapist activities like games, be someone else to the best of your ability and in life, do the opposite.
Patching will begin soon (1hour) or later... And I agree, escapism with chars is fine... Other games I'm a green monster and one I'm an accountant..... I Am Dude 2 |

Wait. Go outside. Check now and then. Eat. Wait more. Shower. Call a friend and tell them you are still alive.
When CCP have all their stuff sorted and have confirmed that the game is playable, auto-update option will be available.
Trying to force the issue will not help, and there will be kinks to the server and gameplay anyways for a while - at least there normally is. So don't fly outside in your biggest baddest ride and be surprised if you lose it.
Just enjoy a day off, huh? |

UTC is GMT time. BST is GMT+1 and that is the time for people living in UK. UTC/GMT do not use summertime variations.
UTC 18:00 is; BST 19:00 CEST 20:00
So whatever your clock was when the clock in left corner said 18:00 yesterday will be the same time today... And that time CCP wish that the server is, hmmm, up?
In other words, in 56 minutes I expect to be logged in.

So adding planetary interaction with the intent of linking the universe to an FPS(which sounds like and hopefully will be as awesome as BC2) is a minor update and not worthy of a release? I guess if any other game developer had ever attempted, let alone accomplished, the same; then the whiners might have a point.
Kudos |
