If you guys are that pissed off about it, why don't you just pick a month like 6 months out and get a big campaign together where everyone cancels their subscriptions for one month - make it a big deal, make a website / facebook group / forum sigs / whatever.

Sign a pledge to cancel your accounts for one month, with a promise to resub after the month.

If you get enough people to do that, you could probably create quite a stir in the CCP office. Of course, if you don't get enough people, you'll just be handing them carte blanche to ignore the lag further because not enough people are willing to vote with their Euros.

--------

TBH, I was a big fan of the SISI testing idea, but that's gone effing nowhere, and before the last big patch the game was playable, so it's not like there's no evidence for what's caused the lag. svn blame, yo.

--------

Also, if you could get all alliance leaders to agree not to be dicks and have a one month wardec where everyone fights their fleet battles in Motsu / Rens / Amarr / Hek / Ours (non-jita important systems), that would be hilarious and probably effective. Plus, would be a nice break from CAPS ONLINE!!! for a while.

We are impatiently waiting for the next CCP game development team power point presentation during the next Fan Feast about walking in stations and its nice graphics! Keep at it boyz, we EVE customers are really into that...

it also looks like You were diagnosed with a brain tumor, and your doctor is talking to you about some nice cream to reduce wrinkles on your feet...

Do you really think CCP gives a S... about the concept of lag for which they NEVER HAVE ANY TRACK anyway in their system when you lose a ship??? Laughing laughable.

true story.

CCP dont care.

when 2 entities such as NC and SC are in battle it is impossible to do anything. Mechanics, gameplay, developments, sov changes, stations upgrades, billions spent on fleets and titans, none of this matters. The lag makes all of these things a mute point.

Heres yet anthoer thread that CCP doesnt care about. We wont get a reply.

Im taking 2 weeks off. If things dont change that 2 weeks will turn into forever.

If its anything like the last testing event, it will be full of some planetary crap nobody cares about.
And like last time, after 5 minutes I'll just log out.
If they are actually testing for fleet lag , I'll be glad to help ccp.

We all moan about lag, some more than others, you are chasing a rainbow if u think that it will ever go away, the shear numbers/weight of data the game presents to the nodes/servers makes this a pipe dream. Having played eve since it started in various guises, I can confirm that the improvements in game code and hardware have only just kept up with the popularity of the game, once 10k users online was milestone it seems laughably small now in comparison with todays numbers. The only possible way to reduce lag within the game is to reduce the eyecandy, remove the data intensive sub-routines and have a more basic, more leaner gameplay. One would say a gameplay for the purist where quality of game play overrides the quality of the visual aspects.

How many of you are willing to forgo the following:

1. Local window and the ability to chat there ? ( afterall do you walk into a pitchblack room and a window pops up to tell you who is there ? local is not realistic and losing it would make pvp far more interesting Twisted Evil ( I would get rid of all the other useless chat windows too ones that nobody uses anyway. leaving just Corp, Alliance and Fleet. I do have a real problem with local spamming, be it in jita with the isk spammers, scammers offering " not to be missed deals" on fake items or the people quitting eve promising to return double any isk sent to them, then into my area of interest 0.0 with the infantile smack talk and constant spamming of local chat with non stop rubbish text, IMHO if the children do not play nice with their toys then take them away. I never talk in local an most of the time I have in minimised so it would not be a loss to me.

2. Ship textures. I am not bothered if the outside of my ship is blue green or a rusty red I spend 99.9999999 of my time inside looking out and as long as I can see the brackets/overview of targets what they look like is not essential.

3.Space/planets/moons Get rid of all the extra eyecandy involved in these. Snow storms on ursa geo or a gas cloud around zaphod does not make the game any better for me compared to a lag free or reduce lag enviroment in which I can enjoy the game.

All these are not drastic and apart from upsetting those who stare at the screen at the pretty pictures and marvel at the textures of the ships and structures instead of actually doing anything in the game they would not be missed after a while.

Just my POV. flame if u must, give it consideration on its merits just do not dismiss it out of hand. Eve is still a good game and there is nothing remotely like it out there that comes close.

Amen to 99.9% of what you are suggesting.
But you are forgetting one thing: THE MARKETING, Bob, THE MARKETING!
To market and promote massively a product, you need some nice packaging around it so it pleases and attracts customers!
Welcome to Mass Market Land where quality dies to quantity!
Sadly.
How about having a nice official post from CCP dudes to show us how much they care and what they intend to do to correct the issue (or try at least)?

They already sucked us in and had us paying for years now they made their money and dont really care.

Now they are just worried about having a constant flow of new players, and honestly they aren't going to really change that way of marketing, they already have our money, they just want more.

I would just like to point out an informal fact about this thread that leads me to a wildly speculative conclusion.

All the IT posters stop short of saying stop paying.

Therefore IT posters all work for CCP.

Therefore all members of IT work for CCP.

It does start to **** me off a little. I just lost my third ship in H-W inside 1d, all to losing connection (and getting killed by the squad that does nothing but kill people who lose connection).

Now, CCP, this isn't WoW where there is no real economy, as nothing ever really dies. You just find your body, go to that smith, pay a couple coppers, and you're good to go again!

This is EVE, we spend hours to make the isk for a battleship. Then we (or some logistics people) spend hours to get the ship to where it needs to be. And then you get immediately killed by your abysmal server performance. If you create a game with a true economy, at least make it so that you don't lose your assets because of game issues. Losing a POS, for example, comes to mind, because the attack mail doesn't get sent. Or sent too late so that you can't stront the tower even though you only covered 2 systems in 2min to get to the tower.

But looking through your annual reports and seeing that investor interest steadily rises, combined with the knowledge that investors always want to see more return on their investment, and are not afraid to put up pressure to get what they want, because, what are you going to do to stop them from taking their money and investing into something that promises them more return? So, basically, what I'm saying, you've become another victim of your own success, thanks to how our economy is working, and thanks to the fact that humans are humans, with the same instincts that we had 100'000 years ago and that, at this time, ensured our survival through scarce times through greed and selfishness.

And sadly, you increase returns not by fixing lag, that only the people in 0.0 get to feel when they form fleets to defend assets (that you made worth to defent because there's an economy...), i.e., a small part of the gaming population, but by introducing new and shiny stuff that draws new people into the game.

All hail our economic system. At least I can sleep well with the knowledge that it can't last that way. Or, do you think humanity can always consume more and more to keep interest rising while the "usual people" never earn much more, and we completely lack the technology of recycling and unlimited energy supply to cover "unlimited consumation". But that's probably just me. As always, ignorance is bliss. Now where did I put that greenish stuff that brings me bliss?

listen - CCP did a fantastic job over the years reducing lag. On the eve of dominion, we were having a bunch of fun in 0.0 with very little lag. Some thing, or some things, within the dominion code screwed this up, and reversed years of the fantastic work of CCP at reducing lag. All i want is to roll back to pre-dominion code.

But... but... we'd lose the pretty planet graphics!

I'm sure everyone would be in complete support of this, too bad it will never happen. CCP makes far more money off new signups than they do off us old players, so: new stuff to advertise > playable large battles

make the state of affairs popular in the interweb. discourage others from joining. we dont want more. we the old players are the ones that kept this game running for 7 years. and there is less and less to enjoy for us because of the lag. no need to dance around the fire by either side. the time will come for the nc again where they are on the receiving end of this crap.

Sure, I'll take one for the team and sacrifice an hour on a lazy Saturday to help fix this game I enjoy. Color me a martyr. Unfortunately, I'm terribly sorry I can't devote a full afternoon to clogging Jita and intermittently spamming BAWWW threads. But keep up your selfless toil in these forums.

They need logfiles in a controlled environment if this lag is going to be fixed. Sucks to commit time to something I shouldn't be expected to do, especially if I'm paying for that's supposed to be bug free. Sucks like an Electrolux. Nevertheless, this is the only way we're going to make getting blown up in fleet fights fun again, as opposed to @#$%RAGE-inducing and 'I-cancelled-my-9-accounts' thread-spawning. Be a man for once, grit your teeth and do something not self-serving. A few hundred of us are going to soldier up and give up an hour to hopefully improve (or, rather, at least restore to pre-Dominion lag) the game for the other 300,000+.

Also, if you have a computer that can handle dualboxing, you can testserver for an hour while you wait for a grid on Tranq to load.

Yeah.. you're right.. HW is the only system with pilots experiencing lag. ???

Fact is.. just like the Toronto Maple Leafs.. they'll never put a good team on the ice because they can fill the place regardless.

CCP is making scads of dough by keeping all the the addicts, letting the truly disgruntled leave and then attracting a new crop with fancy new releases.. Why fix a problem none of us is willing to quit over?

Right. Let's get CCP to hire some (read: "lots of") guys to watch the telemetry on each and every node 23/7 waiting for a fleet fight to happen (which usually is during evenings, AFAIK CCP employees work during the day) instead of doing it under controlled circumstances with CCP personnel that take their weekend time to try to improve this.

Right.. once they start paying me for doing their job..

You should get back to your desk and continue something massively important like redesigning the capsule graphics you ccp hack.

Such an ingenious idea! I know an even better workaround to not have any lag at all it's called not playing the game!

On a side note: I am not a CCP employee, I have lag and I don't like it.
