I'm prepping this toon for a character sale, and of all the issues I have a secure station container that I can't get rid of. Every time I try to repackage/trash it I get the message that the log file isn't past the three week timer. <rage> I need to get rid of it, but I can't. Who's Idea was it to put a 3 week timer on the log file? <rant>
I can't put this character up for sale till it's gone.< Emo-Rage >

Can you contract it out?
Give it away for free.

WHY can't you sell the character until the container is gone? Just leave it, and sell the character.

Tried contracting it to one of my alts, but it came up with an error message.
It cannot be contracted while the log file is active (3 weeks).

Cannot put a character up for sale while it has anything of significant value. I have to get all material assets moved before I can sell it. A secure Station container is a "significant asset" because something might be inside it.

Do a direct trade with some random dude in local. Simply stick the container in trade and hit accept. THey'll prolly accept. If not, ask someone in local to accept a direct trade. Every so often someone randomly trades me those damn things but i accept nevertheless.

Are you saying that you KNOW the character transfer SYSTEM won't allow you to transfer the character while it has any of those in inventory (because you already tried and it won't let you) ?!?
Or do you mean, that's what you think will happen (and haven't tried yet) ?
Or do you just think that's something you must do to comply with the rules of character transfers (even if the container is empty) ?

There's a big difference between each of those three scenarios, and the last one is almost certainly not necessary (if it is necessary, CCP has officially gone bonkers).

That line in the rules seems more to be: You are not allowed to sell a character that has significent assets. Like "WTS 30m SP char with a Golem included" not some random crap that you cant get rid of.

Dont quote me on that though, just what it seems to mean :P

Some guy who used to be in my corp bought a character that had a lot of assets spread all over the universe.
This included some pretty awesome stuff (CN invulns, CNR somewhere in nullsec, etc).
When you can't get to it, just leave it there.

^^This basically^^

It's my first try at selling a character, real world economics are in play and I really can't afford multiple accounts, so I thought to sell this one hopefully for enough ISK to supply my other account with a few months of plex and let this one expire.

Just don't want to have any issues with the transfer.

I'm pretty sure there are no checks on assets, and the only reason the "significant value" clause was in there was to prevent ISK sellers from selling ISK for RL cash that way (or, rather, to allow CCP to punish those that try it whenever they discover it).
If the total value of the goods on the sold character is noticeably below the ISK you receive for the transaction, you're perfectly fine as far as CCP goes.

He can't even trash it less than 3 weeks from the last audit-logged action.
It gets worse : if I remember correctly, the attempt to repackage or trash the container is in itself an action that resets the timer... so you basically have to remember to not do anything with the container for at least 3 weeks.

Set the container name to todays date and come in three weeks time.

Repackage.

Trash it.

Done.

tbh I find it hard to think that CCP would even care about that container. And as stated before the rule of assets is more that you may not advertise a sale for a char that it comes with assets. Else you'd even have to force pilots to trash their rookie ship before a trade...

So as far as assets go, I'm sure you'll be fine with that container there.
