Last night there was a Movemebot in the moveme channel but it's gone now. I thought it was an excellent idea and worked great!

Why don't you bring it back dear CCP as I think it would really help since you don't need to have ppl devoted to moving others.

Cheers!

I probably need to log it on again, since it would have been disconnected by the Sisi downtime.

Systems currently not accessible via MovemeBot:
  • Jove space
  • WH systems
  • Sakht

(because there's another system called Sakhti)

If I have the time and inclination to invest more into this I'll see about Sakht. Jove is deliberate and the wormholes pose different technical issues (since I'm resolving names -> id's and the wh systems all have the name 'Unknown')

As a little bit of a coder myself (not that I know what language Eve is written in) but wouldnt it be plausible to require an precursor (like #) to the Locus Sig for going into a WH system via the bot, ergo "moveme #Locus Here" ?

It wouldn't be hard to have a switch at the start of the code that parses the letters for the system name and immediately know its about the parse a Locus Sig by the indicator (#). That way instead of having to resolve it from a name to an id it knows its starting with a different field in the database. Just my ideas.

Of course, its all up to you, and much love for even making the Moveme Bot as good as she is, its SO MUCH easier to test Sov and POS ideas now that we don't have to fly an hour to find an empty planet.

Edited for clarity

Ok, fixed up Wormhole systems; they're the same as normal - just use 'moveme j123456'. Also fixed Sakht/Sakhti - just wrap it in quotations like 'moveme "sakht"'

Reports are surfacing of people using MovemeBot to track down abandoned ships in WH space, which if still there often indicate the presence of a POS nearby on TQ.

Of course, this doesn't actually help people find a way to reach that particular system on TQ Laughing

It should be fixed for now. Since this is a personal project, if it causes too much grief with people abusing it I'll simply remove the entire concept and we can all go back to using stargates Wink

The bot is awesome. also it produces a lot less lag to session change via the bot than to use stargates. They should let you fix TQ lag me thinks. Very Happy

..not being too pessimistic here, but what exactly caused that jump-gate-stuck-phenomenon to stay undetected and make it to TQ the last time?!
Just sayin' Rolling Eyes

(edit)
Yes I got even more doubts about this.. you lazy people can feather and tear me if ya want Razz

We're always telling people that (technically) Sisi needs to be as close to TQ as possible.. that's why there are no instant skills.

What purpose does this movemebot serve? The moveme channel was originally there to get people fast to FD, where they could easily find others for fit-testing/duelling with a fully seeded market. That's ok.
But now we got instant-travel to any system in new eden.. no need to even test jumpbridges anymore. Why would we need to insta-jump around anyways?

As funny as it is to zipp-zapp around I think it does give bugs the chance to slip through to TQ..

So I personally would vote for this thing only to move people to FD (if further away than say x jumps even) and remove the rest of the functionality, although it's kinda funny to try to get moved to "hell".

PS: being able to insta move to w-space is kinda nice though (knowing how rare w-space entries on Sisi are) and serves a testing purpose, so I would keep that. Maybe alter it so that we can wish for a w-space system class but not for a particular system to avoid exploits?

For some ungodly reason, faction ammo isn't seeded on the market. The solution?

insta-jumping around as means for buying faction stuff

  1. this will work for how many hours/days after the mirror is done?

  2. considering that contracts/market is obliterated from those items quite fast.. there is no stopping you from doing this without the insta-jumping around, just use a inty to get to the hubs, buy, make freigther ready and let you move you to FD

I suspect this is mostly to do with being dumped into a random safespot each time and not having to load anything on the grid except your own ship. There would be some interesting consequences if stargates worked like that on TQ, to say the least.

Yes, maybe. Doesn't seem to be random, though, you just seem to stay whereever you are, just the system ecology around you changes.

I support Tres Farmers idea of the movemebot only being able to move ppl to FD if it helps to keep it alive (or as alive as a bot can be).
