Am I the first person to notice how well this could work out, after all EVE's one draw back seems to be that you can only react so fast with a mouse, and iPad's problem is that no one takes the few causal games it has seriously. I think an app for EVE would be very enjoyably for players, as well as make EVE seem like the future of gaming by having it on the newest piece of tech out of apple.

Besides, how grand would it be to beable to multitask commands because you arn't restricted to a mouse. Please back me up on this EVE community!

I've been thinking the same thing, but the iPad can't handle eve (hardware)

I'm not sure if HP's touchsmart PC is limited to just the HP apps and media center or if it can be configured for win7 and mouse gestures (and gestures to == hotkeys)

If possible it'd work.

but most touchscreen montiors are crap and nowhere near accurate but yes it would be nice.

The iPad is nowhere near powerful enough to run Eve. It wouldn't even have run the old classic client very well (though that's partially due to the classic client being poorly optimised, hence the change).

A much more likely option is that one of the raft of windows based tablets that will hope to profit from the tablet hype may have enough performance to run it on minimum specs. Though I wouldn't guarantee it.

I still would prefer a keyboard and mouse.
EVE on a touchscreen sounds like a nightmare and unplayable?!

What have you been smoking?

Windows 7 already support multitasking! Get a multi-touch HD screen (and windows 7. (It's not that hard)) and multitouch on baby. Right-klick will be an issue though.

No.

Last thing we need is CCP diluting dev resources to make whole new version of Eve client for oversized iPhone. And it would be practically complete rewrite.

Get tablet PC/touchscreen monitor/tablet.

Obviously, if you are going to get something Windows based, you will need to hurry while they still make them.

Technology is in beta on the iPad (via streaming.)

The iPad is very popular, has a great user interface, and has been mentioned in the same paragraph as You Know Who - all three of which are very strongly opposed by a vocal minority. Perhaps they just like to resort the overview while listening to their Zune? Very Happy

In the short term, I think a full client would be tough on the iPad or similar. But if Moore's law holds up, then iPad 2015 should have more computing power than the average PC of 2010.

The immediate opportunities are for skill queues, market trades and the rest of the EveGate suite.

Actualy, as Apple stated that all content had to be written for Apple devices from scratch in its recent terms of developer service changes, a move that caused Adobe flash to totaly withdraw support for Apple devices.

It would have to be a 100% rewrite, not even the graphic textures would be allowed.

Ive played eve sometimes with pen and tablet, which i think yields about the same results.
Its somtimes very annoying yet it does work on certain things actually. Granted that i had my keyboard next to it.

I have used a HP 2380EO, a touchscreen laptop/tablet. It works quite nice.

ChrisIsherwood linked it already: you don't need EVE to run on the iPad (or any computer) to play EVE on the iPad (or any computer).

Go back, read his post, follow the links.

I am getting HP's Touchsmart tm2 tablet for college and I am looking forward to trying Eve on it. It has a keyboard, mouse, and a touchscreen. It also has dedicated graphics so it wont run that badly, since it already runs on my old laptop with integrated ok. (30 fps, everything set to lowest quality)
As for right-click, Windows 7 interprets holding down for a while as a right-click. So it isn't that inconvenient.

As for the iPad, the closest thing to eve you will ever get is running Eve on a computer then running VNC to remotely control the desktop. But that will be very slow and jumpy, like <0.75 FPS (depending on the network connection). Good for managing skills? Maybe?
