give us an example of what you mean by wasted?

Posted - 2010.03.13 23:04:00 - [3]

I have wasted TOO many million Sp than i am able to count.

How? cause i have subscribed i believe ever since 2004, and had to cancel the account for way too many times due to RL. Evil or Very Mad

Skill time I 'wasted' was learning BC 5 in my implant free clone (I know yeah) and energy emission systems 5 but that wasnt too wasted as I can use T2 heavy neuts, not that I PvP since only mean bullies PvP and this game is all about mining Crying or Very sad

Oh and just because you dont need Energy Management 5 for Thermodynamics DOESNT mean you dont have to train for it ;) I know no one has said this but someone will

I got level 5 in Survey when you actually needed that for some exploration skills :/

Posted - 2010.03.13 23:42:00 - [8]

I got Exhumers V and the ability to use tech II mining crystals on most ores.
I also hardly ever mine now.

The refinery and industry skills I use, but the barge skills are a total waste.

Zero, because every point contributes to my >121mil total that lets me say I have >120mil total. Laughing

I disagree with the idea that SP in stuff you no longer use are wasted.

I was a nano-***** and so I can fly Minmatar HACs. But just now I don't, but those SP are not wasted, just having a rest.

waste? dunno. trained but don't use atm, maybe. hacs are now too expensive for me to fly. dn are so so since nobody wants to defend space in a game that lags out the systmem that you are trying to take back and a titan will just alpa it, anyways. carriers are good for moving lots of ships and stuff real fast. but, also die ez.

but, wtf am I to train will I already maxed out all the sklls for my t1 frigs, cruisers?

just don't do anything stupid like get podded w/o an utd clone and you wont lose any sp. unless, you're flying a t3 ship. what a stupid thing to do. take sp for a ship loss. that's really a realistic way of thinking on CCP brainpans.

No idea, lost 100mil plus SP due to being inactive. And for half a year or so I had the accounts running, but was too lazy to login and keep training. lol
Besides that, no lost skillpoints, just skills I don't make use of currently.
My Minmatar specialist flies caldari and amarr, too, don't use it though. My Caldari specialist was actually Minmatar and is now Gallente pvp with BS V and tech-2 guns, which I have never used. Same with dread skills etc.
My industrial char has good Gallente pvp skills, large gun spec, t2 drones etc, but never used them, his job is station, pos and asteroid hugging. Can fly freighter too, but for that I have another char.
My freighter char has recon V, adv. weapon upgrades V and all that, but no gun skills at all, except T1 small guns. Couldn't decide, what I want, except that I once thought curse/pilgrim would be cool.

And 3 of my chars are covert ops / exploration chars, I usually only use one though.

Maybe some day it all makes sense and gets useful. Embarassed

I have a 2003 main that is for pvp but he can fly a hulk, refine ect.

I then started an alt for indy stuff, good bored quite quickly and trained him up for all sub BS t2 ships.

So i then started this alt as my indie toon, who has just finished BS5 and t2 guns.

guess i will never learn

Me too Laughing I never even bought a Hulk (except on SiSi).

But no, I don't consider any of my SP as "wasted"... just "unused, for now".
I keep getting more and more of those kinds of SP each passing day Wink

The day I finished training Exhumers V was the day I quit mining for good, because that day just happened to be the day Emperyeon.. imperion.. whatever age came out and I decided to try out this factional warfare thing. I don't do FW anymore but PvP > staring at rocks all day, and combat sites in wormholes pay a lot better than any asteroids anywhere.

Of course, I wouldn't say they're *totally* wasted, sometimes if I really have nothing better to do I'll park a Hulk next to some giant Arkanor rock in a wormhole system, but 5 hours of trying to give myself carpel tunnel hitting the "Scan" button on my d-scanner every 2 seconds keeps me from doing it more than once in a blue moon.

Though I do find the refinery skills useful for reprocessing my mission loot.

Getting podded with an insufficient clone 2days after you complete battleship 5, and having to do it all over again... That seems pretty much as wasted SP :p

0.058314 million, or 58,314 points.

These skillpoints are hidden somewhere in my skillsheet and will come more clearly into focus in about two years.

Bits and pieces here and there .(As applied to THIS character.)

I've never shot anything with my dreadnaught.
I've never shot anyone with the POS guns.
I've never flown an Amarr BS, Minmatar cruiser, Minmatar battlecruiser, or any Gallente ships
I dont mine ANYTHING.
Have never dropped sentry drones.
Have never used smartbombs after the first time.
I too , have had the un-insured clone = BS 5 loss.
In the beginning, I didnt know about learning skills for months.

I didn't really get into the game for the first 3 months.Sometimes I would go 10 days without any skills training at all.Probly trained 3 weeks skills in 3 months time back then. Maybe less Crying or Very sad

Total loss with time + the uninsured clone is 4 million-ish I suppose.

I have a lot of sp that I dont really use but I might someday. Thats the case with most of what I train now since I dont train for big stuff since I have no interest in flying it.

I have so much stuff trained up that i can't really make use of it all at the same time anyhow,so it depends on the definition of the term "wasted",but having said that,it is nice to be able to adapt to pretty much every possible situation one can be faced with too,or simply feel like doing something different with pretty much any ship in the game,as they're all nicely trained up.

Just today i bought a titan skill book(gallente)and already plugged it in to my character sheet and will be training it to lvl 5,but who knows if i'll ever be able to make enough isk to actually buy the ship itself,as they're kinda pricy to say the least.

Yep the big one would have to be mining! argh.. i trained most of the high end ores, and hulks on two characters.. Now all this girl does is repair another character... or Jam things :(

so thats what.. 8M sp in industry.. maybe only 2M is actually worth it......

Posted - 2010.03.15 16:19:00 - [28]

I don't see any of my SP as a waste, it just means that should pvp or mission running not entice me today then mining or probing things out will. Granted, going for a jack-of-all-trades takes a long time, it is very fun Smile

Survey V. Neutral

And the 240-300K I put in industry when I first started because I thought I'd be an inventor...

But other than that, just about every bit counts for something, someway.
