I take it the test results are an indication of the progress.

So seeing that the performance during the tests has decreased from 5.2 (slightly better than current TQ) to 4.7 (slightly worse than TQ) is making me wonder how it will be when Tyrannis hits the server.

EDIT:
I still think you are still trying to figure out what's really going on and far from developing a solution.
Especially "Still seeing low FPS reports, seems to be getting worse" is making me wonder if you can even predict whether your changes are going to make it better or worse until you see them running.

We need at least 300 pilots, preferably 500+… the more people who show up, the better.

Will be there.

This should be interesting.

I'd love to come to the event as well, just returned to the game about 40 days ago and see the test server hasn't had a mirror since then. Hope yall do a mirror before this next test.

The update is appreciated, but I will take a leap and state that the community is interested in more than a summary of what is, in the world of quality assurance, highly subjective data via player feedback.

For example, what are CCP QA and Network / Hardware engineer personnel seeing metric-wise when large fleets jump into one another (via gate, titan bridge, POS jump bridge, logonski, etc.)? If measurable, what data traffic are you seeing between server and client when a client has the fleet window active and there are a ton of changes to the fleet composition due to pilots joining / leaving fleet due relogging during fights? Etc.

And how are you guys doing with the monitoring of large Tranquility fights? You want numbers of warm blooded (well, mostly) testers? You have them getting together one or more time a day and performing all sorts of random actions en mass that should provide decent data.

just curious ... would it be an option to stage a fight for NC/SC?

e.g. each side names a pos they want to fight for. CCP sets up the pos the same way as on TQ, fight gets started ... and the result (pos save/destruction) is applied to TQ aswell.
that might solve the participation problem.

(of course some kind of peace agreement from both sides for the 17th would be needed)

Id like to see what you have done since dominion, what stage are you at in sorting this broke expansion you pushed out?

And when can we see some sort of fix for it, because if your thinking about we will have a fix for the next expansion just isnt good enough.

CCP you have been going down hill on your customer service and with the recent dev blog about deep safes, what has been done about the LAG.

numbers and stats that we all know isnt a report.

So many great questions, so many porrly thought out questions, so many great answers. There is just My self and a barely trained alt I can gring to the table and my main alt ain't that good either but even poor players like myself should add to the testing parameters sice what ever we do to screw up the parade during testing is going to happen in real life anyway. I'm hoping I can figure out how to set up so I can play. there are some great instructions from some of you so I think I can figure out how to do it on time and correctly. Us old geezers need to start early setting up it takes us a while to move let alone think. lol.

Btw, I want to congradulate the dev or whom ever set this particular thread up as it was easy to find explaines pretty much everything anyone needs to know and is well done. Unlike the CSM Election which is one HUGH Cluster F'ing mess with no central anything and even less info.

Tell me If i am wrong but if you were getting closer to solving the issue causing this increased lag why is it on Your Test reports The FPS and player ratings are actually getting worse ?

Also when you say things like this

Quote:
This is the first time we’ve seen reports of players getting ‘traffic control’ type messages when initiating a jump. The message they get tells them that they’re in a queue to jump and must wait 2m 30s (was the exact same time reported by all players who got the message).

I get the impression you are out of touch with things because 1)This happens all the time and 2)We don't actually want to see that stupid message.

Then you go on to say

Quote:
That said, Loading into the system was a bit smoother this time around than in previous tests.

Thats probably because half the fleet were stuck due to traffic control. If you were enagaging a fleet on the other side of a gate the fleet that jumped in would therefore have even more of a disadvantage and would probably have no chance.

tbh i just had a facepalm moment after reading this.

We should also have a new mirror applied to Sisi before this test event.

All that's in the test reports is a summary of the problems we get in 0.0 every day when 2 fleets of over 100 or so engage. CCP, it's good that you can see this now but please open up to us on what you have learnt about the problem at a techinical/system level, what fixes have been tried already and what more is being done.

I'm really worried that the focus is going to shift now onto these new planetary expansion features and we won't see a fix in the next release for the fundamental issue that's killing life in 0.0. Please give us some real reassurance that you're making progress on the problem and that you won;t release until it's fixed.

Unfortunately the timing is bad for the PI test for my alliance plus a bit short notice. Having said that, however, I will be showing up with a couple and possibly more pilots and a few alts.

It would be nice to have more notice next time. Maybe even two tests in one day to cover more tz and get you more data. Just a thought.

By the way... I would be the contact for my ally as well.

I'd like to participate in the test on Saturday, but for some reason I can't log into SI. Wrong username or password, even though the same ones work for TQ. What can I do?

<sarcasm> Yes CCP, give me a copy of your source code so I can see what fixes you are making and if they are good enough. If you do not, all veteran players will be fed up and quit. </sarcasm>

You do realize that EVE is proprietary software, correct? CCP doesn't owe you or anyone any technical information regarding the fixes they are making.

They have made it clear that they do need our help testing on Sisi. So instead of worrying about the technical details, log onto Sisi for the test and let CCP do the work. At the end of the day, all the user needs to know is that the software works, not the why or how.

Who was talking about source code?!
Oh right, you were...

Well there are several levels of abstraction that do not involve pasting or quoting source code while still explaining what's going on.

How do you think do software engineers communicate when they talk about how to solve a problem?
In source code?? Laughing

Just take a look at the devblog about the grid loading bug.
There are some explanations that are comprehensible and do provide some insight.
However for some unexplained reason there is not a single line of code in it.
Truely amazing, isn't it?!Shocked

One noob to another. I was in it last time. You do not need to bring anything but yourself and a ship bc or better. They want numbers, and loading the system is the point.

I'm re-loading now because the update some how failed to last. Ran fine on the 15th but today 16 21:00 eve time it is not loading and giving that uninformative incompatible message.
I hope to be there tomorrow. I cleaned out the folder and started down loading.

for some reason my singularity patch when downloaded says that i have an incompatible build.
do you suggest anything? as for trying to use the command centers as i was on the server it would not use the command center right every time i placed one it would not take away what i had and when i left planet menu, it reset and i had to put a new command center down again, i am not sure if this is the proper spot for the report.

thanks,
Starhawk
