Testing is cancelled for today apparently. It's been postponed to Saturday July 3rd. That's what the masstesting channel on SiSi said at least. I couldn't even jump gates, was getting a message "Loki has just left Vylade as of 30S ago" everytime I would click jump. BH said "Test server is experiencing severe issues."

And all that's after I couldn't autopatch, and DL'd the whole client all over again. Bah, oh well. Hope you have fun sat, I can't make it :(

Allow me to apologize for this mess. It was my bad. Although we had some issues in getting the patching to work for all because of last minute issues, it was an experimental feature we enabled in a fit of optimism that went very very wrong and basically borked the whole test cluster.

But, the important thing is that on Saturday, we will be testing a potential patch to deal with the "stuck-on-jumping in fleet fights" issue. This patch has shown great promise in localized tests but we need to see how/if it performs with hundreds of pilots beating on it. Please spread the word and bring friends over. Let's find out if we're TQ ready with this!

oh, typical over-0enthusiastic optimism caused the borked test - thx for the relatively quick follow-up and apology accepted, downloaded and now installing the new patch and this time it seems to work fine! got a bit up my arse about but podded myself and killed some amarr and gallente in PvE and I feel so much better now...Wink

The patch cannot be downloaded because, at least on my PC, the client version is 166321 and the patch is expecting 167296. Please do something about this.

Copy Eve Tranquility to Eve Singularity folder by replacing the files already there. Apply a patch ( if necesarry ) "et voila".

BTW... Is the official time 20:00 UTC or 20:00 GMT? Because on this thread is says GMT and the main page thread says UTC.

GMT and UTC are (nearly) identical or to quote Wikipedia: "In casual use, when fractions of a second are not important, Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) can be considered equivalent to UTC".

If you are asking in regards of summer time: Both UTC and GMT have no summer time. If you are located in the UK, the mass-test would start for you at 21:00 BST (British Summer Time).

Last nights test was fun.

Had no problems whiles in fleet other than Traffic Control when jumping, upside of that was no jump took longer than 1 minute even if Traffic Control took place.

Found overview easier to use, targets not updating to quickly.

Problems: Major lag once battle commenced, even before cats arrived :).
Launching of drones took forever, even got an error message, once drones launched though they responded very well.
Activating missile module was 1 click, deactivating took a good few minutes, was quicker to warp away :(
Major lag when warping away from battle as well :(

Overhaul was lots of fun :)

Certain aspects of EVE combat that are prominent on Tranquility are not done or even banned on SiSi. Specifically dictor bubbles, bombs, titan bridging and podkilling. All these happen in abundance in real fights, would it not make sense to allow them in mass tests ? If one of these things is a major cause for lag we'll never discover it during mass tests.

If fixing lag is so important, and I think it is, and SiSi is not a good simulation of TQ, why can't we have an extended downtime where we load the SiSi DB onto the TQ cluster and run a realistic large battle. Give everyone lvl 5 skills and you'll get plenty of pilots. Then just put TQ DB back and we're good to go. A day spent like this may be worth weeks on SiSi.

My windows ingame are not minimizing properly. They turn into a "X" on the leftbottom of the screen, next to the clock.
When I dock up, all my windows get dragged to the middle of the screen, including the Station Services.

My overview is freezing after one jump, and will only work again if I dock up again.
Some elements from the UI are showing glitchs (like when you drag one object, the sprite following the cursor is just wrong)

I can't get to group windows too.. they get really bugged.

Is all this happening to everyone?
ugh

During the last two mass tests I participated in, at the jump-in stage my client went into a tight loop writing log files and produced about 5gb before I gave up. FPS went down to a few frames per minute. In both cases I asked in the mass testing questions channel if these logs are useful and, if so, how should I submit them. In both cases I did not receive and answer, so I assumed they weren't wanted. I thought it might be a good idea to follow-up here in case this data is useful to someone.

Will we get a fresh flash or would CCP grant us SP on SiSi for the test. I think it would be beneficial if CCP did give us SP so even the lesser skilled people can get out there and have some fun. Nobody wants to bring a t1 fitted frigate to a large scale fleet fight.

Last time everyone got all skills at level 5 on SiSi anything but testing occured.

A T1 fitted T1 frig will cause just as much server load as a Titan anyways.

The UI on SiSi at the moment is a huge mess. I've made six bug reports in 20 minutes as basically nothing works as it should. I hope you get all this fixed before this mass test.

Serious honest question:

Nobody has ever said why you can't and don't install the monitoring software on the live server, and run it when you A) see a fight, B) get a node reinforcement request.

Its an honest question, it seems the metrics you want, as well as the bodies you need are readily available in those areas, and honestly, if "it would make TQ lag worse" is the answer, you should probably review that, because it really can't get much worse for us.

The main reason I ask, is that your scheduling during the week is mainly during work hours for most of the US tz, so the chances of me taking off, or being home, and NOT having something important going on on the live server are pretty damn slim, so organizing time for this is extremely hard.

Seriously, I understand you can be a bit less "invasive" on sisi but why can't you take some data from TQ? Due to the nature of sov warfare and node reinforcement requests, you KNOW when fights are likely to happen. There's giant f'in timer in space for christ sakes, so you know if something really important like a CSAA or a station is coming out in 1 day 18 hours and 17 minutes, it's probably gonna be a fight there. At worst you say hey, "You guys get to get off work early today, and you get tomorrow off during the day. Show back up at 2 in the morning and prepare to collect data for about 5 hours while our players black screen and figure out why the servers are melting." You get the data you go home, repeat for the next 3 weeks of fights, and then spend the next 2 months trying to find a fix.

At this point there's enough broken stuff on TQ where no one will really care if you break the game for a couple hours while collecting data as long as you are working towards a fix for all of these problems.
