i think i know i found why the graphic behaves as it does in my case.

there were buys on all days from 23.03 til 30.03 but on 23. and 24. there werre no sales.
looks like the graph doesnt recognise that the sales volume should be zero but instead procedes to fill in the first data with sales (25th in this case) for the 23th

A new version (2.0.4) has been released.

This version expands the Quick briefing functionality. I've also added the possibility to mark grid cell(s) and copy their contents to the clipboard.

As always, see the version history for a complete list of changes.

I received your mail with the logs, Ben. Thanks for sending.

I'm afraid I only can provide an explanation, not a real solution. The logs show ("invalid beforeRefID provided") that you're hit by a bug CCP introduced in wallet journal API with Dominion. While they fixed this one for personal wallet journals, corporation API still is bugged.

See this thread over in the Tech Lab forum, where this is discussed. Quote from there:

I haven't hear anything back on my bug report but in their reply they did say they were aware and mine was being added to the existing one so probably not going to help at this point making another one. They didn't say when it would be fixed in the reply either but at this point since it's existed through a couple minor bug fix releases I hate to say it but looks like we're not get a fix until next major release

Bugfix released: v2.0.5

v2.0.4 containes an error which makes it impossible to edit an existing EWA account. This new version also corrects the behavior of the "Top buy/sell" charts if there are no records present.

I apologize for the inconvenience. Embarassed

Version 2.0.6 has been released, along with a database update (15).

This version adds a new feature I called "Virtual Character" (VC) to EWA. You combine two or more of your existing (real) charaters into a virtual character. This VC will then act as an "on-the-fly-total" of the combined chars.

In order for this to work, you need to apply both the appliaction and the database update.

Virtual characters can be created/edited via menu Extras -> Virtual character.

As always, see the version history for the changes in this version.

This an error reported by the EVE API server. So, EWA is able to connect to the server (=no technical connection problems there), but the API server can't serve the characters for your account, for reasons only CCP knows.

Is your account by any chance a pretty new account? I seem to remember that you can't immediately use the API with a new character.

Also, make sure you're creating an (EWA) account first, entering your Full API key for that account, save it and mark the account you want to retrieve the characters for as the default account.

what is the issue when EWA says I have no wallet transactions? I've entered the strong API etc.

It shows char info and wallet total ISK no problems.

I switched my trade char to an old account last night. Initially it didn't work on that account's API but after a few hours the API pulls info to EVEMON for example including completed orders.

It just doesn't seem to pull transactions into EWA.

Did you download your wallet data with another application (from the same location/IP address)? If so, you've got bitten by CCP's API caching.

If not, have a look at Extras -> Application log, if there's an error.

Hey, I think that might be it. EVEMON tracks my trades and I tested a few other trade apps yesterday -- none of them pulled any transactions -_-

How do I resolve this caching issue? The logs show no errors apart from the usual noob corp trade roles.

PS - meh wrong character...

Either use an EVE API proxy (hop over to the Tech Lab forum, there you'll find those advertised) or use one application for one task.

if you're able to change your external IP address, the caching is per account and IP address.

Other than that, there's no way around CCP's caching.

Hello,

First, you should probably update your thread link on your contact page, as it points to an old thread Smile

I just downloaded and installed EveWalletAware for the first time. I believe that I have followed the instructions for inputting my API and marking a default account. However, when I go to the character tab and push the "Retrieve characters from EVE API" button, I get an error. According to the Application Log, the error is:

"Error: -2147012889, EVE API Error: 0, The server name or address could not be resolved, "

EveWalletAware cannot retrieve my characters.

EveHQ works just fine on the same system.

Shocked

Thanks a lot for pointing that out. Already fixed. Very Happy

Hmm, strange. Are you connecting through a proxy? If so, you need to configure EWA for using a proxy (menu Extras -> Options, tab "Proxy server").

If not, is perhaps your firewall or virus scanner (or something like that) blocking EWA from accessing CCP's API server?

I'm not trying to use a proxy, but there may be one here at work. However, EveHQ works on the default settings without having to enter any proxy information.

If you don't have any more suggestions, I'll try the software from my home computer this evening.

edit: one question, do virtual characters show personal as well as corp transactions in one place? I've been toying with using personal wallets on some alts to run various market manipulations (so they're easier to track) while I continue to trade out of the corp wallet on others.

I haven't looked at EveHQ in a long time. Not sure if it does use calls to the EVE API ... but I guess it has, at least for getting character information.

Well, we could make sure that your config hasn't become corrupted. Go to ? -> Show locations. There's an entry "Configuration file used" (points to EWA's INI file). Open that file in a text editor. Search for "EVEApiBaseURL=", located in the section [EVEApi]. The value for "EVEApiBaseURL" should be http://api.eve-online.com.

I can only guess that perhaps EveHQ automagically uses IE's proxy settings and therefore does work, whereas EWA needs to be configured for using a proxy. I mean, it's pretty easy: open your browser and check if it's configured to use a proxy. If so, configure EWA to use the same. The queries EWA makes are standard HTTP calls on port 80 using MS' MSXML library, nothing fancy there.

I've mentioned this before, perhaps that's how I made it into your head:

Quote:

Again, I wouldn't do that, but have a new feature in mind, which would must likely solve your problem: letting the user create a "virtual character". You than assign existing chars to that virtual character, making him the "sum" of those characters.

Quote:

edit: one question, do virtual characters show personal as well as corp transactions in one place?

No. They exactly behave like a real char. A VC either refers to the (sum of) the personal wallets of all related chars or the (sum of) corp wallets of all related chars.

Just found a simple bug with the quick briefing's chart - if you have a day with no buy/sell activity (none at all) instead of charting a zero the chart component ignores the point entirely and shifts later data-points one day to the left.

http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/2949/chart01.jpg

Note the empty sales value on 4-18 - this causes the sell graph to ignore that day and shift all futher points one to the left.

http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/509/chart02.jpg

This is more obvious, it's kind of funny once you figure out what you're looking at.

I just wanted to say how good your app is and how much I appreciate it. I started using it just as a way to update my personal database, but as time goes on and you expand your functionality I am starting to use my own database less and less. After the tyrannis changes I may completely retire my database.

A thought. Some items are bought, not to be resold, but either to melt down or to value add through industry. Do you have any intentions to add functionality to work better with those features? I'm not sure how hard it would be, but here's my thoughts on how it could work (without making a full fledged industrial app). Items could be identified by the user as being either input or output, and after subtracting out any surplus that might be resold you could group them as such in a balance sheet.

You could have the user define subgroups as well. Like say minerals vs ships/modules and salvage goods vs rigs. Leave the worrying about blueprint quantities to the user. They could theorhetically get very fine details based on their subgroups (like armor rigs) but that would be up to them.

Or just what i said at first, 2 large groups (input and output). I know some of the industrial apps do this better, but their financial tools are simply terrible.

Just knock out some simple vbscript to poll EWA's database from excel and you've solved your problem.

Hmm, I have a feature request, what do you think about a third option in addition to "Corp Data" and "Personal Data." Something along the lines of "All Data" - a combined view of corp and personal data. With the introduction of virtual characters this would allow a combined view of player trade performance in one place, across all wallets.

I'm willing to start a bounty pool if the feature interests you.

@Tehg:

Let me start with saying thank you very much for your kind words. Although my main philosophy with EWA is "no user input", letting a user create "input/output groups" (in lack of a better name) wouldn't interfere with the API data. I can see where you're coming from, as a producer and I can also see the added value of such a user grouping for other business purposes, if that grouping would be flexible enough. I won't promise to add something like this at this point. But I can promise you that I will at least have a look.

@Companion:

My first impression is: this sounds like it could easily be done. But the devil is in the details (does this make sense in English? It's a German proverb ...), so let me have a look at it first. Oh, and no "bounty" required. I do accept donations, of course. But I never added something because someone paid for it and I don't intend to do so. This keeps me independent to take EWA the way I want, without the need to carry that paid for feature around although it might be outdated or just a PITA to maintain.

Transactions show you what you've bought and sold, at face value - they don't show losses due to taxes and fees.

The journal shows all wallet in/out data, but in no greater detail than "market escrow authorized" or "xxx bought from yyy."

tl;dr- the journal shows all in/out data including taxes, fees, insurance, bounties, rent, etc. while the wallet only shows buy and sell data.

Hi, I would like to send a big Thanks your way. Your program is great!
I have one question, how long does it typically take to update my Wallet Transactions?

I am using Wallet Aware for example to track certain transactions that I make for another account of mine, but sometimes the recent orders wont show up in the program. Is there a set time delay between the actual in-game transaction until it shows up, or does it depend on other things. Can I manually update/fetch the data to speed up the process?

again, thanks for your effort, its a great app!

There are two factors which play a role here:

1) API cache.
Each API type (wallet transactions, market orders etc.) has it's own caching timer. You query it. CCP sets a timer. You won't get new data from the API server until that cache has expired. The expiration time is delivered along with the data and EWA recognizes those and won't query for new data until then. Under Extras -> Cached XML files you'll see a column "Cached until". That's how long you can't make a call to that API type for that account.

2) Delay between TQ and API server.
I've never measured myself nor did I read how long it takes before data is "moved" from TQ to the API server. I know there is a delay but don't know how long it is and if it's identical for all API calls.

First off, great tool and thank you for taking the time in providing us with something like this.

Now on to my question. I've downloaded, installed, and added a character just fine with WalletAware. But, for some reason I can't seem to find the Corporate Wallet JOURNAL anywhere?

It's nice being able to see transactions and all, but having recently seen a decrease in our corporate funds, I'm trying to use Excel to check all the divisions/tabs such as the Master tab and see who is taking funds and who is replenishing funds. Since EVE doesn't provide an easy way to view that information, I thought WalletAware had that capability, but... I can't seem to find a Corporate Wallet Journal anywhere?

I basically just want to take ALL the journal info and do a simple SUMIF function and see who has a negative or positive balance.

Is the corporate journal a feature that's not available with WalletAware? Is it something CCP does not allow? Bug?
