Hello all!

We would like to extend a thank you to each of you who participated in our most recent survey. The response has been wonderful, and we've met our target number of responses sooner then anticipated. As a result, the survey has been closed. We will, however, reveal the winners next week.

Again, thank you to all who participated!

Winners have been announced! Please see this post for more information.

Official CCP survey was something like this:

Have you ever bought isk for real world currency?
__ Yes
__ No
__ Maybe

Must have been totally random on who they selected to do them because I got one. Was surprised, and was the first time I ever got one from CCP after almost 4 years of playing Eve. Was really nothing special, took like 20 minutes to do. Was long and tedious, lol.

That would mean they'd have to look at all the data they'd get, they don't care what we all think, only a small sample.

They used a 3rd party for the survey, I would suspect that you pay more the more people you test.

Why would they need to? Do you think political polls are given to every voter in a particular country? All you need is a statistically significant subset to infer information about the population.

Yeah but political polls look at millions upon millions of voter.

Eve is in the 100k +/- range.

They have to review the results of the survey first. The question on the survey was:

Should CCP offices have a new coffee machine installed?

You might be surprised. Lots of those polls have links for how many they polled and it's amazing how many of them "poll the nation" with a group of 300 people in a politically one-sided state.

Having been at the CCP Offices during my time on the CSM, I would have answered 'No'.

The CCP Coffee machine is quite good, even if it has a short milk straw.

Eh not quite what I was getting at. The sample size does not necessarily need to be large to provide an acceptable confidence interval for a finding.

Here's a calculator you can play around with. For 300,000 subscribers (last number I recall hearing), at a confidence level of 95%, to get a confidence interval of 2%, you'd only need to survey 2400 subscribers.

I got one of those surveys, unfortunately I have been too busy trying to get CCP to respond to my petitions to be bothered to fill out a survey. If you send me one again you can be sure I will mention the absolutely FAIL customer service that is provided.

Wouldn't it be smarter to post a copy of the survey on the forum? I mean, other forums allow you to have vote only polls and you can only vote once so as not to exploit it.
