Yes, because the XPS series is obviously poor quality and it makes perfect business sense to build your own systems piecewise.

... You do realize Dell has their own tech support team, right? That saves business a **** ton of time and resources when something invariably does go wrong.

But LAWL THEY DON'T HAVE WINDOWS, CATHODE LIGHTING, OR WATER COOLED COMPUTERS SO CCP IS DUMB. Rolling Eyes

As stated before, before a company buys computers they have to know if they can get support.

Dell started and still has it's main focus on business customers and provides an excellent support service to business customers if anything goes wrong. What you experienced as a single individual customer no where near stands to what Dell offer large companies.

That is the reason many many companies go to Dell.

How many home users use Dells? Very, very few, that's how many. Dell are notorious for using the cheapest & least compatible chipsets, messing with the BIOS making it incompatible with 3rd party hardware. CCP should use similar setup as home gamers, defacto gaming standard video and audio to minimise compatibility issues, bugs and crashes. It might make the game a bit more stable.

Yes, because gaming rigs and development systems are 100% the same and have exactly the same needs.

Idiot.

Er... Dell screens are some of the best in the industry. I would develop on them!

As for the base units... it makes a lot of sense to not develop on the top end hardware, or your code may end up so slow it takes top end hardware to run it with any decent speed...

Oh wait?

Dells aren't that bad. The ONLY problem I've ever had with them is the fact that they cheap out on the power supplies (unless you spend a ****ton to spec out a system a particular way).

I currently have one I can't burn DVDs on because they put a damn 350 watt power supply in it with hardware that actually needs at least 700 watts to run comfortably, and as always happens, when I go to get a power supply they tell me there are no larger power supplies that will work with my equipment.

Their sales staff sux tho, I tried to order a replacement screen for my laptop and the guy tried to sell me an LCD TV...Thankfully I found a place that sells replacement dell laptop parts.

The reason Dell screens are some of the best is because they're re-badged Samsung's. I'm a former Dell tech for Small Businesses/Government and the techs are pretty well trained with a lot of information available to them including some very knowledgeable management.

The last time I called Dell as a corporate client with an issue I had to jump through a script with 'Josh' in India. And after 45 minutes asking him to repeat himself I just turned the computer off and packed it under my desk making sure to scan it during inventory every year there after. Of course that was years ago. Perhaps they've seen the error of their ways?

Really?!? Funny; the one I used was the best laptop I have ever used. It has the fastest mobile processor, the one of the best NVIDIA graphics card on the market, and a 17" screen not counting the 4 gig of ram.

Alienware Laptop
