I hate to do it. This game has so much potential but then just seems to fall on its face in the end. Maybe Im missing something? Is there more to this game that I didnt see?

So I got my toon somewhat leveled up skill point-wise. Can fly battleships. So what am I supposed to do? I dont want to mine, I dont want to run anymore missions. What else is there? I tried FW briefly and found it the most boring form of PVP ever. I took me many nights before I even had a chance to shoot at someone. Im sorry but thats not good game design if youre going to have PVP in a game. If someone wants to PVP they should be able to get into it immediately, not flying around endlessly looking for something to shoot then you do finally see something youre "allowed" to shoot at without taking a security hit but hes 200km out flying at 2000 whatever so you have no chance of getting him.

I dont get it. What are you supposed to do in this game?

I thought I might try running some DEDs, problem is 90% of them are lvl 1-2. And most of the lvl 2 ones in my region are rogue drone which only drop materials and dont carry bounties. The closest one of interest a lvl 4 was 12 jumps away. I dont want to spend 30 minutes hoping gates, thats bad game design.

I dont know, am I missing something? Is there more to EVE that Im just not aware of? And if there is more shouldnt it be a little easier to find out about?
If you can seriously say that EVE lacks content without it being a troll then you don't get EVE and never will. It's not for you, move on.

Playing EVE in the long term is more about strategy than action/whatever. Like someone said in a reply, set goals, I for example want to make a super fascist state under my rule, conquering all nullsec and lowsec, bring massive gank fleets and start shooting mission runners and all carebears until they rebel and start pvping instead of losing their time playing a multiplayer game in singleplayer mode.

Also making a little of everything is fun, carebearing stuff. I hate it but I really enjoy to rat in dangerous places like nullsec, make missions, etc... but just for a few days.

Be creative, like someone said, "Playing EVE in the long term is more about strategy than action/whatever." eheheh Very Happy

Your missing something important, which is to join a Corp that does more than mining and missioning. The War Dec can be great fun with a group of people that do not want to be pushed around, my corp will just lie low, but a corp that wants to fight is a great laugh, find one of those. When I first started I was in a Corp that was war decced and they were useless but still had a laugh running around making an inept attempt to fight.

I joined a High Sec Corp that was mainly made up of mining alts of players in 0.0. However there is a growing group of mains in the corp that are now doing things like worm hole mining and sleeper killing, another found a nice 0.2 system and is mining that system. For my part I am building up my main to make the move into 0.0, I am building up ISK for that reason, you could of course try this

http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1125673

Goto page 44 and review this channel "hub514" That looks like an interesting way to get into 0.0, its where I intend to do it.

With this toon I go into low sec when bored and run around until someone tries to kill me then run them around the place. So far had lots of fun being chased and only lost one ship, was not podded. That can be a huge laugh and you learn skills, though nothing expensive, I normally use Frigates.

i also recommend rvb if you're looking for pvp. another option is to join a pvp or pirate corp. you said you don't want to leave your current corp because you like the people, but if you quit, you'll be leaving it anyway. so you might as well try a pvp-oriented corp.

Join a corp and move to 0.0. If you're trying to play solo eve doesn't last long.

Im in a Corp but its a small one in high sec. I had the thought maybe I should switch corps but havent wanted to because the guys Ive been playing with are good people. But all everyone in the corp seems to do is mine or run missions. Mining I have no interest in and missions Ive done enough to make me vomit.

Just as in real life its important in EVE to make friends and do stuff together. Its called socializing :P

But in the end helping others all the time instead of yourself will end up with you suffering thus you sometimes have to prioritize yourself above others. Like in your case you didnt and here you end up now.

People in nullsec can be nice too (sometimes) and you can have much fun in small roaming gangs.

TL:DR Move to 0.0, find a corp/alliance to stay and thats active (not napfest participants) and have all the fun you can get!

New people hear about EVE and think its something like CS:S in space, but in reality the 'real' PvP is in the extremely robust market simulation and the territory/resource control game of 0.0. The rest of the game is just people finding stuff to do to keep from getting bored Twisted Evil

99% of the content in EVE is generated by the players, scams, wars, radio shows, spying, the list just goes on and on, i hear some players even role play.

Get into a larger corp and get into some of the player made content, it is far more fun.

Get your butt to low sec and a pirate/pvp player-run corporation. Regardless of your current corp mates being good guys or not, it's obviously not the right corp for you. You can't moan about not seeing enough action if you won't even go where the action is.

here's a really good read when questions like these are asked :)

Awesome By Proxy: Addicted to Fake Achievement,

in short, *matt*s have a better time of things than *paul*s in expansive environments like eve. ... maybe you're a paul.

Some people just don't have the ambition/creative inclination to find enjoyment in a sandbox type of environment. These people tend to be happier in a more scripted/linear style of game where they're spoon-fed content. You sound as if you may fit into this category, and may be happier in a different style of MMO.

Edit: I realized after reading that my statements might be taken as a flame or insult. That was not my intention. Simply trying to make the point the the style of play in EVE is not for everyone, but that there are some of US who've looked for a game like this for years.

you know what there needs to be?
Battlegrounds.

You queue up, join a battleground for something like a 10v10, 20v20 or whatever fight.
It "transports" you to the battle area and when everyone is ready the battle begins. Each side obviously starts away from eachother.
After the battle, you get sent back to wherever you were, in the station or whatever. lost your ship in the battle? don't worry, it didn't really explode, it was just a 'fun' battleground thing!

Heck, call it a "virtual reality training exercise" for pod pilots if you need a reason for it.

But hell, it would be fun and it would be a way for more people to PvP without worrying about losing ther precious ship. I don't currently PvP at all because I don't want to lose my ships, with a system like this I would definetly do it, maybe even get more experienced at PvP and convince me to try it more out in the 'real world'.

Flame on.

Just for the very remote chance that you aren't trolling: This was attempted by CCP, the very server rejected the concept. TQ simply doesn't want to deal with fake losses. I love that server.

Get a 2nd account train main account for pvp and 2nd account for scanning and hauling , and go pirate :D

Nothing beats griefing , failing that join red vs blue or faction warfare .

As for lack of game content ... lol Razz
