The last chapter with the Jovian scientist. Anyone care to explain that to me? :P

Yeah, for a moment I thought that the Broker was the Jove scientist.

It is supposed to be mysterious, but it seems to hint that the Jove are in deeper trouble then anyone in the four empires does know. Earlier in the book there is also the information that even Concord lost any contact with the Jove.

The Jovian Scientist also seemed to have tried to prevent the Terran Artifacts in the New Eden System from being discovered by the empires. As we all know that the discovery led to Jamyl Sarum getting her hands on a superweapon, that is being fueled by a rare and unstable type of Isogen.

In one of the Chronicles that led to the opening of the Wormhole Space, the same Superweapon is used to blow up a huge deposit of the same type of Isogen, which led to a chain reaction throughout the Empires Space and beyond and opened the Wormholes.

Conclusion and further Questions:
- There is a link between the EVE Gate and the Wormholes and a highly advanced Technology of Terran Origin.
- The discovered Technology could be used as a superweapon, but that was perhaps not it's true purpose.
- Wormhole Space is open, but there are signs everywhere that Humans were there before, so it is not the first time the space was opened.
- The Structures found and the technology have similarities to Talocan Sites in Caldari Space and especially to Sleeper Sites in Minmatar Space.
- All Sites and Worlds in WH Space seem to be devoid of life, but have an extremely high number of automated defense Sytems.
- While most of the things found in WH Space are broken, the defenses are still formidable. Fully functional each System must have been a near impenatratable Fortress.
- Why all the Firepower and when the Creators of the Sleeper and Talocan Artifacts have perished, who closed the Gates to Empire Space and when did that happen?

Ok. Now I know it just wasn't me not understanding that chapter. Thank you for the answers.

Read this yesterday and was a little unsure. I didn't get the impression that the Jovians had gone through. Something has happened at the gate. The last sentance is the mystery one. Either the forces of the gate have destroyed the ship, or it's managed to cross through.

I prefer to go with the first as the original intro and backstory have pretty much established that the gate is closed.

I recently came across this in another topic... a very interesting interpretation. I really like this one:

Quote:
To add a little spoiler, the weapon was found near the Eve gate in New Eden system, as an ancient weapon from our ancestors, before we lost all out tech after the eve wormhole collapsed.

Usually the jove hide all these wreckage parts from the other nations, for keeping the balance between the empires and stuff, but with this one, even the jove were unable to keep the weapon away from Jamyl Sarum.

Why? Because an even more powerful and more ancient lifeform than the jove gave it to Jamyl, the eve wormhole itself, being some sort of lifeform. Which now controls Jamyl Sarum as a second self.

..... fancy alien stuff eh? But that's the situation. ^^

Hmm, why not, but then again the Entity might as well be called Enheduanni.

Another similar approach would be borrowed from Arthur C. Clarkes 2001 Book, some Human Scientists, survived the Collapse of the EVE Gate nearly intact or perhaps even engineered it as a beginning of a large scale experiment. They developed their technology much further then the Terrans ever did and evolved into beings of pure energy and no longer confined to a physical body. That would explain why the Jove said, that the Enheduanni are no longer human and are beginning to influence the civilisations of EVE with Jamyl Sarum as one of their agents.
