"I on the other hand am predicting a complete collapse and that tech will go down to 1500 pu. As such I have placed an order in Jita for that amount just so I can say that I actually back what I am saying." (Lord XSiV)

Given the staggering amount of rubbish Lord XSiV has flooded MD with over the last few days, I thought it was worth recording some of it for posterity so that we have something to refer to if anyone is ever tempted to take him seriously in the future. The following is a small selection of his recent statements. I haven't offered any detailed analysis as this is not possible in the absence of any rational argumentation to get to grips with. Instead I have provided some very brief comments but I think, on the whole, his words speak for themselves. The collection has aimed at variety and amusement rather than completeness. Enjoy!

1. We can start with the comment that provides the banner for this post. He predicts here that an increase in raw material requirements, such as were implemented in Dominion will lead to a decrease, or at best, no change, in the cost of that raw material.

2. "If Akita & Co didn't organize the lemmings to drive up the demand (and the subsequent hoarding/acquisition) to spark off a snowball situation then there wouldn't have been a blip anywhere and everything would have been the same."

Presumably, then, there was no change at all to the technetium requirements for production. Everyone hallucinated it.

3. "But instead we have a ton of lemmings rounding up other lemmings in what could be the biggest ponzi scheme since ebank - only this time using actual game mechanisms rather than just human stupidity."

Failure to understand the meaning of the phrase "Ponzi scheme".

4. "If you were a real t2 producer, you would know to have massive stockpiles of component and materials on hand (I myself keep at least a year or two worth) which were bought at bulk prices through whatever deal was the best at the time."

Abject failure to understand the notion of opportunity costs.

5. "If you were at all intelligent then you would actually take my suggestion and be working on the next [scam]....."

Thinks intelligence equates with scamming.

6. "t2 bpo owners aren't stupid. Well the recently acquired ones be, but generally the old school of isk printers are far too smart to be taken advantage of by clowns the likes of you."

Thinks possession of a T2 BPO (initially available through a lottery!) for a long time implies intelligence. His own statements provide a perfect counter-example.

7. "I know myself that I have a fairly large stockpile which protects me from market swings that you ADD short attention span traders like induce from time to time."

Utilises the logical fallacy of the ad hominem attack.

8. @Akita "To put the nail in the coffin - were you an ebank client? I myself called it a scam when it first came out...."

Bases ad hominem attacks on incorrect assumptions. Also wrongly accused other posters of being EBANK clients despite repeated public statements to the contrary. Also accused at least one poster (myself) of losing money in EBANK despite me joining the game after the EBANK collapse.

9. "Akita is back tracking far too much"

Akita has not backtracked on any of his predictions, as far as I'm aware. They were all, however, hedged from the beginning with his estimations and assumptions clearly labelled as such.

10. "Ever thought that I may have sold out to orders that were higher than yours? Regardless, the point I was making was that as part of the Akita & Co 'Pump and Dump', your low buy order was up on the blocks trading more than 35% below the sell orders."

Sells goods to buy orders at 35% below what he could have got selling on sell orders. Then calls the people he sold to who made a 35% profit on his goods idiots.

11. On keeping multiple years worth of raw materials on hand: "Tying up that much isk isn't tying it up at all - I would have to buy it regardless."

Again, failure to understand the notion of opportunity costs.

12. "Well interestingly enough I was trying to figure out if you guys had actually pulled off a proper pump and dump or were too stupid to figure out what you had accomplished.

From the posting it happened to be the too stupid option."

Repeated inconsistency. It's a scam/it's stupidity/it's a scam/it's stupidity depending on the point he is trying to make at any given moment.

13. "Now why would I rage quit? Let's see here, I have enough isk to play for free for the rest of my life on all of my accounts, a healthy t2 production operation and tons of fun tormenting lemmings"

Personality flaw - enjoys attempting to cause pain to others.

14. "(And yes, Akita is far over exposed if he hasn't gotten out yet. Those of us who did at 52-59k already made a killing and that killing was off people who got in then)"

One post later:

"Where did i say I got 'out'. I referred to Akita getting 'out' not myself or others you dimwit. Must I add failure to comprehend the english language to failure at basic math as your monumental accomplishments?"

Extreme inconsistency coupled with inappropriate attacks on those who pointed out what he had said before.

15. "Contradictory? What the heck are you talking about?"

Ahem.

16. "No one knows for sure how many tech moons are out there. Dotlan isn't accurate (probably as high as a factor of 3 or 4) and anyone in their right mind would be keeping their mouth shut on any undiscovered ones found since the proposed Dominion changes."

Whilst arguing that tech moons are worthless, provides support for his argument by claiming that people will keep the number of tech moons secret because of dominion changes that will make them ...???

I could go on. And on and on. All these are from just the first 4 pages of the Mittani's thread, from a mere 12 posts. Never in the field of MD conflict has so much fail been fitted into so few posts by such a small brain.

So you have skills at copy pasting statements out of context. It is good to see that you do have a use.

If you are so new to the game then why are you even in the discussion where billions upon billions of isk worth of assets are moved on a whim? What makes you think you are even qualified to participate in the discussion when you yourself have admitted to being of such insignificance? I would assume that someone with a ph.d in philosophy would know that - actually anyone with a shred of common sense would.

But alas your role of being a cheerleader in the Akita & Co 'Pump and Dump' propaganda crew has forever placed you into the pages of Eve history, where Market Discussion scams are recycled on a yearly basis, and the goal is to be 'liked' by everyone.....

Snore.

Anyhow nublet, in a few years when you get some tangible assets then you might have some credence. Until then, work your way up hauling around garbage and other consumer products that the new players are told to learn the trading game.

Leave the market manipulation to the big boys who know what they are doing, especially when it comes to math and spotting scams, and have the assets to do so.

Hehe. Very cute. I am a noob but a noob with a business that pulls in 10 bil a week profit. I'm guessing that would take over a trillion isk worth of t2 bpos? I do it with about 60-70bil in capital. I prefer to be a noob than a stagnant ancient player thanks.

Edit - also, not wanting to be pedantic but billions of isk aren't moved in the discussion. The discussion is about the movement of billions of isk. Subtle difference, I know, but significant.

/me stops lurking MD for a second

I have been following the discussions in here for a while now. I cba to post in them as my knowledge of, and interest in the market is much lower than most of you. However i want to say this.

Im glad there is people disputing the predictions alot of people in eve seem to take for a fact (technetium specifically ofcourse). However, your posting style makes me cringe.

Talking down anyone disagreeing with you, the constant use of these catchphrases, assuming everyone with another opinion is eachother's alt/cheerleader. These things really make you look like a pretentious prick, and if you really think like that you shouldnt parttake in any discussion either since you seem to can not stand the fact anyone would disagree with you.

As I posted in Mittani's thread - the timing seems a little strange on Lord XSiV coming out of the blue on this. The Technetium stuff has been discussed for months. Why now, after Mittani wrote an article?

I'm not saying it's goons, but considering whole alliances are gearing up to go to war over this whole situation, making Tech worthless might be worth it to someone, beyond the money-making avenue.

Might just be my paranoia talking, though ...

I have found the recent discussions on this forum rather amusing. I am also a "lurker" on these forums and have been for a long while.

Akita T several months ago made an analysis on the situation of technetium. He posted his math and his assumptions wide open to the public from the start. It even became a community project and lots of information was added to make the analysis more complete.

Though I had already done my own analysis and purchased my own technetium, around 500,000 units when it was still at 1,400 p, I was a little bolstered by the fact that it seems that I wasn't too far off in my own thinking.

Now here comes mr. Lord of the kingdom of the blind, says akita's math and assumptions are completely wrong. Has sworn up and down about Akita "scamming" or "being totally Oblivious" to what has been achieved in a massive manipulation. However being so good at math, I'm surprised to see that Lord has yet to show even one piece of "math" that refutes Akita's and the communities analysis.

Please post your spreadsheet and list of assumptions so that the community can have something conrete to consider rather than what seems to be the ramblings of someone trying to drop the price of tech so that he can get back in to cover the losses he's taking from having 2 years of dyspro products at much higher prices in stock.

Yes. So many tears. MD is literally drowning in tears extracted by your perceptive posting. You have shattered us and oh how we weep. Look, here they are ... Oh, wait, I'm sure they must be around somewhere. The Lord said so.

By the way, still waiting for you to tie a date to your prediction of tech at 1500isk per unit. Any time you're ready.

As to your narcissism, if you don't post because you care about people taking your views seriously, and you don't have some kind of unfortunate illness, why do you post? Oh, let me guess, for the tears and the lulz? Talking to other people purely because it amuses you is rather a narcissistic trait. But please, if you have another reason, tell us. I'm sure it won't be at all inconsistent with the other things you have said.Wink

BTW - will you keep giving us daily updates on the tech price situation? I'm sure it will do you good.

I recommend to Lord Xsiv that he reads "The Goal", as he might then understand how badly he fails at business economics and operations management. There's a reason why IRL manufacturers set up "just-in-time" supply chains and seek to minimise both process buffers and inventories of raw materials and finished products.

The attacks on Akita that he and his sidekicks have trolled MD with over the last few days are so replete with facepalmery that it makes me despair for the state of modern education...

I initially hoped this was the case as otherwise my estimation of the value of humanity as a species would have taken a knock but his posting history sadly suggests otherwise.

But you're right, he did do the tech speculators a huge favour.

Just thought I'd add a few more choice titbits that exemplify our dear Lord's deeply flawed character and inability to reason. Although these are not directly connected to his "arguments" about the market they should give anyone tempted to take him seriously pause for thought. A little casual racism, directed at one of the oldest and most culturally sophisticated peoples in the world, contempt for peoples' religious beliefs, some light support for foreign authoritarian regimes, and a plea for the introduction of tyrannical measures at home! These were in response to an Iranian player seeking to organise an in-game protest against the current Iranian regime.

Quote:

How about this, do nothing since it will not make one bit of difference.

Seriously people, protesting against any establishment does nothing. These acts of civil unrest are a waste of time; the people who organize them are only doing so for their own selfish motivations since they benefit in some way, shape or form either monetarily (as is the case for inciting civil unrest by foreign intelligence agencies) or for some extremist religious reasoning.

If the people want change then they will do it themselves. Most people in those countries are very simple and like the way things are, so leave them be. [Shocked my emphasis (RAW23)]

The world will be a much safer and better place once we ban social activism; the first step will be to make it so that it isn't a career option for high school drop outs.

And

Quote:

Reality check - the Iranian Government doesn't care what the rest of the world thinks. You and your little computer game protest isn't going to do anything. Your protest out in front of city hall isn't going to do anything. Praying to whatever fictitious deity you believe in isn't going to do anything.

...

There is no human rights abuse in China. They have malicious people just like every population has. In fact the US has a far higher incarceration percentage than China does. Propagandists want you to believe otherwise, but as was shown at the last Olympics the falsehoods they have spewed over the years has been refuted.

God, that one is priceless! Many thanks! Explains some of his animosity towards Akita as well. I'll go through it in a bit more detail tomorrow (tired now, teething baby kept me up all night last night) but for now just one absolutely epic inconsistency that juxtaposes beautifully with his comments in response to the Iranian protester, cited above.

This Lord guy makes his insecurities very evident. He certainly feels threatened by people who choose to speculate on the immediacy of things so boldly, and openly, this runs directly counter to his own stated methodologies with regards to stock piling years worth of materials like a hoarding squirrel. Thats how he feels secure, by having his ventures lined up for months and months in advance, and anyone who suggests that the big picture can change so drastically in that time threatens the way he chooses to do things. People that don't see things the way he does scares him, because if they are right, then his way must be wrong. On the other hand, he also knows that these types of things don't matter that much either in the end, he can recoil in confidence with that sentiment. He is a hoarder, so he will always be able to be an inventor, no matter how volatile things become, he has that stock pile and he'll be able to out compete direct competitors no matter what so he will survive.

I'm not saying Akita is right either, but its obvious that your aggressive disdain is out of some type of fear of this guys Tech evaluation ever being realized. And what is worse, you fear it being realized in half out of sheer market force and popularity that his report has now mustered. You express that now by constant reiteration of your attachment to the rise or decline of tech to this Akita guys reputation for better or worse. Every post you mention "pump and dump", so in case Akita is wrong, he will be known as a scammer for it (regardless of whether or not he was simply wrong if it turns out that way).

Theirs plenty of people that have been contributing to the discussion as the counter point, and believe that its not going to turn out the way the report suggests, but Lords angle is not to contribute the contrary as such... He's just afraid.
