Since the fleet overhaul created a loot log for combat-based operations, why not have a mining log? It'd make large-scale mining operations all the easier when payment per mined ore is involved.

Yes, please.

It would also make it easier to identify and adjust the payout for people who make bad choices of what to mine. A few months ago I had someone sitting in a lovely rich belt in w-space, mining omber instead of, say, the Ark or Bistot.

Not a bad idea... but ...

In a corp mining operation, for efficiency, you target every rock in reach and sweep the belt clear. It should not matter who mined what, just get everything you can. If you want to make a fair split, then do it on time spent mining or volume mined. If you split costs on rock mined then everyone will target ABC first and you'll get a few empty cycles as each rock is depleted.

I guess its up to you how you pay miners, but straight value is not always the most efficient policy.

I had wanted a similar option for some time now. However, you prayers are already heard :). You will be delighted to know that the new fleet interface already has this option.

When the fleet is formed [and it is important that it happens at that time] the option to create a log can be set.

When the option is set, a running tab is kept of who loots what in the fleet. This is valid for loot from rats, destroyed enemy players and also for mined minerals.

You should also be able to save the loot log as a .txt file and store it on your harddrive. How convenient can you get? [I have to say, I tried that saving feature but could not find it].

It works great. Actually i work ion some php stuff for my corpsite where I can import this file and store the relevant data in a database for further use (statistics, etc).
You get a nice .txt file which you could just drag&drop into excel and you get a nice table.
The logsystem count individual stuff from looting, mining and salvaging.
When you lets say veldspar, dense Veldspar and Concentrated veldspar you get 3 entrys in the file, one for each type. You don't get an idividual entry for each batch you got from your miner. Keeps the file smaller.
When you export that file (rightclick on loot-tab->export) you get a window with the path to that file. Just mark and copy. ugh

I tried out the loot logger for a small mining op, and it is quite nice. However, there are a couple of minor problems.

One being that it would be nice if there were two different modes, the first being how it works as is with duplicate entries being logged ( miner mines it, jet cans it, hauler scoops it, the same ore is in the entry twice, once for the miner and the hauler.) This can create skewed data however, for example if a miner repeatedly jettisoned and scooped ore. This problem can be eliminated with option two below, however, it would still be convenient to accurately see what each individual miner produced.

A second option would be to either disallow duplicate entries or to subtract that items entry for anyone that jettisons the cargo. This would let you know who ended up the the cargo in question. Both options would have different uses, depending on the way ppl want to organize their data.

Also, It seems that mining drones DO NOT have thier ore recorded in the loot logger. I set my drones to a differant ore type than my strips, and after MANY cycles, no loot log for the ore the drones had mined. This needs to be fixed.
