eve = car without a gas meter

you have to peek into a tank with a match to see how much there is gas left?

There's a meter, it's on your account management page.

Read the EULA that you agreed to

12. NO WARRANTIES

CCP disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including without limitation the warranties of merchantability, fitness for particular purpose and non-infringement. There is no warranty against interference with your enjoyment of the Game. CCP does not warrant that the operation of the System or your access to the System, or that your use of the Software, will be uninterrupted or error-free, nor that the System or Software will be compatible with your hardware and software.

While CCP attempts to have the System available at most times, CCP does not guarantee that the System will always be available, or that the System will not become unavailable during Game play. The System may become unavailable for a number of reasons, including without limitation during the performance of maintenance to the System, for the implementation of new software, for emergency situations and due to equipment or telecommunications failures.

As in life it is your responsibility to make sure you have enough funds/fuel/whatever to do the task in hand, is it that difficult to make a note of when your account is due to expire, set an alarm on windows and buy your gtc a week or so early?

Here's some maths.
Eve is normally availble for 8,347 hours a year allowing for the daily 1hr downtime (not always as long as an hour) and also taking off 48 hours for patches etc.
GTC's cost $35 for 60 days play (1380 hours @ 23 hours /day) so each hour of eve costs you $0.025

So basically if you're that p!ssed off that YOU made a mistake and want to blame CCP then crawl back into the hole and quit.

PS, if you've not got rid of your stuff, Your stuff - CAN I HAZ IT Razz

The problem with fixed-interval subscriptions is that you simply never know when they're going to expire.

Erm yes you do, when you pay by GTC you apply the code to your account and it tells you when it's going to expire next.
If you're not sure when that is you can always double check by going to My Account on Eve-O and it will tell you there too.

I understand your pain, but CCP apply these rules to everyone else and cannot have a different rule just for you as that would be very unfair don't you think?

OP didn't pay for sub or Plex. OP gets warning that time runs out.
OP still doesn't pay.
Service stops at end of paid period.

OP goes and complains on forum - typical.

@ the OP:

You do realize by now, I sincerely hope, that you don't actually have to wait until the last day of your subscription to add more time, right? You can buy 90 days and then 4 days later buy 90 more, and CCP will happily add the additional 90 to the 86 days you have left, for a total of 176.

The fact that your time ran out is, shockingly enough, your own damned fault, as are any ill effects that result from it. Shoulder the responsibility of minding your own affairs.

No, I'm setup on the yearly plan and still have a ways to go. Neat of ccp to put that in though.

That is not how eve works. That text show only when there is 3 minutes playtime left. BTW that picture is photoshopped

I am curious, what happens to your car when it runs out of gas?

Where is your inner boyscout? People get too used to not having to think ahead.

LOL
worst
analogy
ever

you car isn't a business.

if you don't pay your electric bill on the day it's due, they don't give you a 60 second warning and then turn out your lights. if you don't pay your cable bill on the day it's due, they don't give you a 60 second warning and turn off your cable. if you don't pay your car insurance on the day it's due, they don't give you a 60 second warning and cancel your policy.

bad way to run a business.

Lots of kn-ob-heads sticking their oar in here, t-osser-s thinking theyre is no need for in-game reminders because same kn-obheads have feckall better to do than check dates when game account runs out, get a life d-iks. Its a simple reminder that shouldnt even need bringing up here, ie, ccp should have brought this in long ago.
