Alright so, I had a few questions for advice on what equipment to use for mining.

I've got a Myrmidon BC and am going to fit that out for mining operations (Since it is my biggest ship I own). I will be mining, with a friend hauling.

Aside from Mining Lasers II, mining laser enhancements, mining drones, and (Maybe) a cargo expander. What other equipment would be useful for a mining op?

Also, a question about refining. Is it really worth it? Even getting 100% minerals back from a refining process, when I look at ores like Veldspar, selling the ore seems far more profitable then selling Tritanium.

Also, should I use an actual deployable cargo container instead of using a cheap jetcan?

And I was wondering if it is possible to use password encrypted cargo containers in .7-8+ sec space.

When I was in Eve awhile back (I quit and am now rejoining) I used to hang in the Essense region, around Luminaire system. Is that a good region to still operate in or could I do better expanding out to other highsec space in different regions?

Thanks in advance for answers.

You're better off using a Vexor, as it gets a bonus to drone mining yield, though it's not a huge difference.

A survey scanner can be mildly useful, but a long cry from required.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Do the math, and act accordingly in each circumstance.

Jetcans are the usual answer. Just keep an eye on the clock - they're not reliable past 2 hours.

Technically you can, but without anchoring a container - it can be scooped up, whether it's passworded or not.

There's little varience in one highsec location over another, beyond smaller or larger crowds.

For your mid-slots, fit a microwarpdrive (or afterburners if you do not have the skills or enough CPU/Powergrid) for getting into range. The mid-slots are also good for capacitor rechargers if you are having trouble with cap stability. I believe normal jetcans will be sufficient, canflippers will usually avoid myrmidons in fear of a trap. Other than mining drones, carry a flight of ECM drones in your drone bay just in case you accidentally aggress one of the canflippers; just jam him and warp away. Additionally, carry some combat drones to deal with the npc rats.
