First learn to drop the "what's the best SOLO PVP"
You are not going to have many solo encounters, other then you getting jumped by alot of people while flying solo.

As for listing only a few ships being good for PVP, that is ridiculas. MOST ships can be effective in a fleet role.

Learning how to specialize in your fleet role is what makes for success in EVE.

Im afraid that simply isnt true. If your smart you can solo with great effect. Its these attitudes that i like, because its a huge slap in the face when an adept solo pvp wipes the floor with said fleet.

ofc if were talking mega numbers then, yeh you dont stand a chance, but it really is out there.

Oh wow, you are so funny and witty!

How did you manage do come up with this original idea of"fixing" others posts???

I am in awe of your wit! Rolling Eyes

As for OP, when you say done research, then say Caldari suck in PVP, you have done no research. You have read 1 or 2 troll posts that say Caldari suck.

lol Nice comeback dude... Sorry you got pwnd on the forums again. Didnt mean to make you cry. It's just funny to me that you tried to post here talking trash and now you are the one who ends up butt-hurt. Sorry but the only troll on this thread so far is you.

Random Plug also, i dont mean to be arrogant with this, but since its on youtube, il post a link the a video of solo pvp i made Part 1 of 4 here. See if you enjoy the ships used there, if you liked that then try watching Violators videos il re-edit with a link. It might inspire you to pick a race.

Kessah, you vid's are excellent and I have learned a bit from your fitting guides. Thank you. However, the videos need a serious music upgrade. Or you could just go with the ingame audio. Then they would be 10/10 in my opinion.

Unrelated question/comment to follow.

I am a new pilot, just hit 4mil sp. As far as weapons and ships are concerned I am trained in small lasers and Amarr frigs and cruisers (sorta). I fly punishers mostly and am interested in pvp. I have heard good things about the rifter, so I have started training for that. I don't know what weapons I should be training since I have read that I should be specializing but I'm guessing lasers are no good on a rifter...

Thanks

You are one of a few unfortunately, alot of people have said thats what they enjoyed most was the music. Cant win em all Sad

Your point about small guns, Amarr / The Punisher lasers or auto's, the Rifter uses Autocannons.

Lasers are not good on a rifter. no.

Dr. Proxyyy is here! I have been flying caldari ships for a long time for about a year now solo atleast. When i started the game back in early 08 in revelation, i train both caldari and amarr which at that point where both considered garbage for solo pvp! One thing i gotta make clear is, no matter what is said on these forums make sure you try it out for yourself! Before you come to what is considerd the general understanding! "Which is caldari suck at pvp! Train somthing else" and this applies to not only caldari ships but also whatever else is considered weird or out of the box...

While i have been making my case off the forums for awhile and just recently started posted because of boredom! I try to be helpful to caldari spec'ed pilots! So Here are some recent kills with my new NAVY HOOKBILL! Im gunna make a post about it at some point after i destroy about 10 ships or so...

blah blah blah don't worry about what race ships you fly or how you fit them. Just get out there, undock, get into fights. Rinse, repeat. You'll get the hang of it.

I dont recommend cross training since you are fairly new. If you are Caldari/missile spec'ed and you want to get into pvp then go with an AML Caracal. Its a wonderful killer of anything frig sized and can hold it's own(if flown/fit properly) against many T1 cruisers. Not only is it fun as hell to fly but it's also very affordable to lose. I strongly recommend that you try one out for a few days before you commit to cross training.

Also, Caldari do not suck for solo pvp work, in spite of what some very ignorant people will try to tell you. Rail-Harpy, AML Caracal, HAM Drake and Rook are just a few notable examples of Caldari ships that totally rock for solo.

This is pretty sound advice. Caldari have the "cant solo pvp" stigma attached to them and I never understood why. While it's certainly true that the dont have as many solopwn boats as some of the other races, the ones they do have perform extremely well.

Considering your skills I think the Assault Missile Caracal is a very good choice for you to start out with. Cheap, fun and powerful. Great for beginners and veterans alike. Heres a basic frig killer fit that I use:

[Caracal, Anti-Frig]
Ballistic Control System II
Damage Control II

Warp Scrambler II
Stasis Webifier II
Invulnerability Field II
Large Shield Extender II
10MN MicroWarpdrive II

Assault Missile Launcher II, Bloodclaw Fury Light Missile
Assault Missile Launcher II, Bloodclaw Fury Light Missile
Assault Missile Launcher II, Bloodclaw Fury Light Missile
Assault Missile Launcher II, Bloodclaw Fury Light Missile
50W Infectious Power System Malfunction

Medium Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
Medium Core Defence Field Extender I
Medium Core Defence Field Extender I

Hobgoblin II x2

Theres obviously a lot of changes that can be made dependent on your situation and tastes but this fit performs well. I ditch the neut and run 5 launchers sometimes. I know the DC is a sacred rule of pvp but sometimes I'll swap out mine for another BCII.

They have to sacrifice tank in solo PvP in order to have tackle/speed.

But, they do not have to sacrifice dps, unlike armor tanks.
