Edited by: Ruban Spangler on 29/10/2009 17:52:14 Is anyone fortunate enough to own a 5700/5800 ATI card and know if "Eyefinity" (screen stretched across multiple monitors) works on eve? |

While not your specific question -- I have an ATI Radaeon 2600XT (I think that's the right model) and used stretched desktop just fine from the Catalyst drivers. |

CCP demoed EVE across 3 screens at Fanfest 2009, so the answer is yes. |

Originally by: Ix Forres This was however technically cheating. The Matrox TripleHead2Go box you were using at FF presents itself in software to the computer as a single, very wide logical monitor, not showing EVE supporting multimonitor at all as it was only actually behaving as normal on a single monitor.
I don't know which hardware was actually used for the demo but everything I read about Eyefinity says that it does in fact do exactly the same thing you are currently describing, the game only sees a single large screen. The application does not need to be multi-monitor capable but only large resolution capable. So yes, nothing new over the horizontal span of the NVidia driver that I'm currently playing with, the only new thing is support for more than 2 screens without additional hardware (e.g. the Matrox solution). |

Yes it works :) Seen some screenies on the Scraphead Challenge Website.
I'm waiting for the prices to go down before i buy 4 of them :)
It was harder sadly to run eve over multiple screens on ATI upuntil they released these new video cards as the stretch mode maximum resolution on ATI cards was ALOT lower than NVIDIA's native support. I normally run with 4 video cards and have been able to run eve over multiple screens, but not at full resolution over all of them, although the client is able to run over two screens on different video cards without any frame loss. Until i find a way of creating a custom resolution to run eve in i won't be able to go that big until buy my new ATI cards. Its going to be awesome, atm, I can only run 8 screens, which will soon be 12 weeee! :)

Unfortunately for those of us with only two monitors stretching it across both doesn't cut it as the ship almost invariably ends up lost in the join between the two screens :(
I want the view of my ship on one screen (as if there were only one monitor) with the ability to pull other windows (chats, market, map, whatever) to the other. Not everyone can afford 300 whatevers for a triplehead thing, or a new graphics card, let alone the extra monitor that a triple head would require.

Yes it should work, I expect it may even work on the crazy 3x2 30' setup displayed at the unveiling event for eyefinity.
FYI People have been stretching eve across three screens for years. |

ive heard that in order to use eyefinity you must have 1 of the 3 monitors using a display port. the new port they have. and using an adapter will not work |

Mostly true, tho with an "active" DP to DVI adapter will work. |

THAT is a proper multi-monitor support. Being able to have completely different views on separate monitors. I.e. a battlefield on one monitor and starmap on other. Not what people in this thread discuss. |
