Hey, I have a hauler alt on my main account, so obviously I don't want to take up too much training time with getting a blockade runner. If I slap a regular cloak on an Iteron III will I be able to warp to a gate, jump, then on the other side turn on the cloak while slowboating far enough to warp safely? This is assuming the gate is camped as most low-sec gates nearby are.

Thanks.

if you combine your cloak with a MWD and some practise, yes. Also 2 warp core stabbis won't hurt your chance for survival, though it won't help against HICs.

If you dont hit the MWD prior to cloaking, every half-capable pilot will approach your last position and simply decloak you, which would result in a nice explosion and one less iteron III in eve.
All your hope are either to mwd/cloak back to gate, let him hit you ONCE and jump through, or choose a random direction, mwd/cloak and simply prey the hunter is not good at guessing your last travel direction before you cloaked up. And then wait for him to be bored and leave.

Any half decent camper, no matter if you pulse the MWD or not, will catch you. Additionally, do you realize how long you would have to slow boat off the gate to the point where they could not grab you?

Well I don't have a whole lot of options here, I need a blockade runner but can't spare the time to train it, and can't afford a second account. And running them down from high-sec on my main is fairly risky with the larger ships, plus the camps.

Put up a courier contract with a decent payout and let someone who's specialised in hauling take care of it.

Nothing replaces a real cloaky blockade runner. The MWD+Cloak trip might work 50% of the time... and you are left slowboating for 20 minutes to gain the necessary 40km or so min range to make it safe to warp.

If you need a blockade runner, train a blockade runner.

Well basically their is no viable option for you. A cloak on a t1 indy is an easy kill for anwyone who wants to try.

I can't fly either the Amarr or Gallente haulers, but neither the Caldari industrials nor the Minmatar ones have enough power grid to fit a MWD; they have 80 MW base, 100 MW with Engineering V, and the smallest 10MN microwarp drive I know of requires 150 MW of grid. You could fit a combination of Power Diagnostic Systems, Reactor Control Units, or Ancillary Current Router rigs to increase the grid I suppose.

Some time ago (before I trained up blockade runners), I would often escape in my cloaked, cargo-expanded iteron v ;). My method was to de-cloak from jump, quickly engage the cloak, align to my exit point, de-cloak and warp (once aligned and at full speed, it was almost instant). The guy chasing has a small amount of time to de-cloak you before you're aligned (but not much). Of course if you jump into a camp and can't cloak for whatever reason, you're dead anyway. To avoid the chase, I would make 1/2 way marks on pretty much the entire route (if it was a regular route), cloak at the 1/2 way point and log off. The best technique though, is to fly ahead with an alt to check local and around the gates. Your main flies to 1/2 way points until the alt gives the all clear. I serviced a POS up in the drone regions like this for a few months. The journey actually became quite tedious after a while!

May try that trick, as I really don't have the month it takes to get a blockade runner on my alt, just too many things I need on my main right now.

Otherwise, I'm not really sure what I'm gonna do, I guess just pay out in courier contracts.

Lets say you try to do it yourself.
Half of the time, you will lose your cargo and a lot of time.

With a courier contract, you will receive the collateral if the contractor loses the cargo, so you're 100% safe. Just do a courier.

I trained my combat character for a Viator, and it's so useful I'm putting aside the month for my other character. It's just THAT useful. Blockade runners are pretty much uncatchable in low-sec (unless you get REALLY unlucky and be <2,500m from a camper after jumping) and are critical for 0.0 logistics when moving crap around.

Train it, you won't regret it. Cool

I second that! Cool

Blockade Runners are so fast too! They make all trips to market take less time. They are also great for turning 20 jumps into 5 jumps by cutting across lowsec/nulsec.

m8 if you decloak alligned you still need to go from 25% to 75% speed (assuming you fitted a t2 cloak) and any half decent gatecamp will have you locked down before then

if your cargo is worth it just haul in a frig , they wont even want to lock you
and 150m3 is enough to move all faction and worth selling mods (aka named mwd worth 10m+)

for the rest i suggest exequror (or how ever its spelled)

as for the crap , reprocess it and sell minerals on location .

just a few alternative to dying in a hauler

I'll think about training for a blockade runner, in the meantime just do the courier contracts I suppose.

Can't haul in a frig, as I'm doing this for my corp who trains newbie pirates. I'm going to be hauling frigs and their fittings + ammo down to our HQ for them to fly. Also cruisers and such when they get into them. Along with my random stuff as well.
