I have some questions about a PvE armour tanking fitting on a Hyperion

Q1. For armour hardener, how many should I use? 1 for each type? or 2 for some specific type?
for example: 1 for EM, 1 for explosive, 1 for kinetic, 1 for thermal? Or focusing on a few types only? such as 2 for EM and 2 for kinetic?

Q2. If I am using a Armor EM Hardener, and also a Anti-EM Pump, do they consided to be similar? (since they give bonus to the same attritbute?)

q1: fit hardeners for the faction you are going against. unless its for wormhole space, in which case you need friends with remote reps.
(for omni-tank, i go with exp/kin/therm hardeners, eanm, and dc, assuming 5 slots worth of resist mods.

q2 - Yes.

Before asking how to tank, ask what you're going to be tanking. Once you know the incoming damage, the math is easy.

I assume you're talking L4 missions? Because if you look at PvP: sell Hyperion, buy Megathron (or Apoc if you can fly Amarr what I don't think).

For my L4 missions I went with 4 hardeners for a long time, and one or two LAR2. That was on a Dominix though, and seriously overtanked (mainly since I ran the missions in low sec and wanted to have a buffer for help to come in case I am mission jumped).
Lately I've refitted my Domi to a 1xLAR, 3xHardener setup with the rest going to MagStabs and cap gear - the idea is to manage aggro and kill stuff fast so incoming dps is reduced instead of absorbed. An EAMN helps a lot too thanks to good compensation skills.

Due to the Hyperion's repper bonus you can definitely use only one LAR2 and can probably do with less than four hardeners too. It all depends on your skill set and how you run the mission.

Why don't you go for a megathron? I don't mission anymore, but when I did mega was 1st choice! Fit 2 x hardners (mission specific) 1 x EANM, 1 x LAR, 2 x mag stabs, and a dc. For rigs fit 1 x Auxillary Nano Pump and 2 x CCC. With decent bs skills it tracks really well, most frigs insta pop if they aren't closer than 30km. And you have 25m3 more drone space than in a hyperion. My opinion is don't aim to tank, aim to kill before they get a chance to hurt you :D
