First of all, I would like to congratulate the people of Rio. You all worked hard to win and have earned your victory. Savor it, and congratulations.

Secondly, as an American, I would like to say that I am RELIEVED that Chicago was eliminated in the first round. Not only is Chicago an absolute corrupt craphole, but it did my heart good to see the Ego in Chief get a smack-down from the world. Good on ya IOC!

Also, I'm looking forward to seeing sexy and scantily clad Brazilian women all over my HiDef TV in 6 years. YOWZA! Laughing

To borrow from BoB, "we didnt want that Olympic game anyway". Many Chicagoans, myself included, did not want the Olympics as its a financial strain on the city that often times puts the city in more debt that it starts out with (I believe there is a number somewhere that indicated about 45% of the city did NOT want the games, given this number its better this way as the city was too divided). Thanks to "wonderful" city leaders we're sitting in a 10 billion hole and the fact that the ******* Daily promised taxpayer money likely means he'll be greeted at O'hare with a noose (or atleast this will set the ground to let a new mayor get into office).

As for Obama comment, couldnt agree more. The guy is showing off and its ****ing alot of Chicago off. Though I doubt this will hurt him it wont do him any favors in three years for his home town.

Though this is Chicago, the Daily's have been the machine since before I was born. That would be '75.

Yep, I'm in the Chicagoland area as well and wouldn't want the Olympics here. Our infastructure sucks, crime is bad, high corruption, I hate Daley (see Meigs Field) and the highest sales tax in the nation (10%!).

Not to mention his idea that the Olympics would generate jobs and money is at best a pipedream.

Any construction would likely have begun in 2012-13, would have likely been union and in the interm made commuting in the city a living hell compared to what it is already.

Its incorrect to think that its possible for a city to make that much off the Olympics, and I'm only considering the obvious problems of that city being required to raise crippling amounts of money to build the bestest, state-of-the-art athletic facilities for ALL of the sports. And of course it all has to look AWESOME.

That said, congrats Rio, its about time South America got to host the Olympics.

That didnt stop him from using that as a platform to gather support. Obviously though it didnt get alot of his city following him.

There was talk of them building another International terminal at O'hare if we got it, don't know how true it was though.

Also a third airport was in the works wasn't it? Meh. My airline flies out of Midway, so that's all I care about.

And uh yea, Rio is every bit as corrupt as Chicago, not to mention crime ridden.

As for the OP: Stop crying like a petulant child. He won. A black man is your President. Run along and suck Rush and Glenn's **** and be a good little patsy. Laughing

Recently a gang beat a black kid to death in front of everyone who did nothing.

The video is around youtube, would you host the Olympics in Chicago, after hearing this?

Edit: Here's the link:

I know how Brazil security is overall, Rio should be fine, they will probably put a load of security to prove that the country itself is safe.

imo rio can deal whit the order issue better that chicago
rio have more problems that chicago
ppl support usage of force to put order
ppl wont cry so much like in USA if brute force is used
olympics will be the prefect excuse to send the army on fabelas

and maybe just maybe this will happen
fabelas are not owned there is no propriety for them is just occupied land the system capitalist need individual proprieties in order to do business and maybe they want to clean the area

Well what you have to consider is that what you witnessed on youtube is not a common occurrence in america. Tragic? Of course but its not something that happens every day or even every few years. The overwhelmingly vast majority of citizens will never have to worry about getting beat to death by a group of angry young men or have anything violent happen to them past domestic fights with the significant other or siblings. It's simply been tossed into the spotlight now due to the recent olympics shennanigans and the average persons bloodthirstyness for footage of that nature.

Now if you want to look at actual statistics instead of some media hype follow up the information in this link. Look at were brazil is on that list but more importantly look at the numbers. So if I was going to Rio for the olympics I sure as hell would not stray out of the protected foreign tourist sections so some random poverty stricken resident can split my skull with a machette and take my stuff. Chicago? Safe as can be for any attraction you could want to see or experience unless you for some obscure reason wander into a closed ally in the middle of the night that just happens to have a crimial hiding in it.

Peotone, but that might be delayed for the time being.

Midway you say? Hmmm, out of all the one airlines that fly out of there, who could it be Wink? I wish I took a job with them instead of my current airline which is about to go through some interesting times.

The next olympics are in London, in my own country. I am pleased it is but us Brits are the worst in the world the large scale projects. Just look at the Millenium Dome.

It will cost a lot more money than UK politicians quote but London is a rich city.

But i hope it goes well.
